Background and History
Previous Life and Early Hunting
Gustavo retains memories and combat expertise from a previous life. He had been a Qigong Style master, cultivated Blood Qi Berserk to Lv42, and created Fist of Destruction. His past experiences also taught him to distrust delays and prepare for accidents 82 83 140 386.
After his birth as a Dragon-Hunting Spider, he initially remained near his family’s cavern. Seeking creatures with soul talents, he asked Spider Mom for help. She required him to raze a Nirat Cyclops settlement 330 kilometers east of the nest within three months and kill at least 90% of its inhabitants. Gustavo promised to return with the chief’s head 78.
At the settlement, he exploited the conflict between the Nirat Clan and Dog Demons, infiltrating the fighting before attacking Oduoka. Subsequent clashes with mercenaries showed his preference for combining ambushes, burst abilities, and prepared escape options. In one encounter, he stole Rig’s backpack and discovered a treasure map inside 82 83 85 90.
Developing Puppets and Seeking Experience
Hunting supplied Gustavo with both physical improvements and stolen knowledge. The Ironback Azure Bear was particularly valuable: its remains strengthened his talents, its soul provided nearly a century of gravity experience, and his exoskeleton evolved into Thorn Iron Armor. He then constructed a Gene Warehouse inside his abdomen 142 143.
After escaping the Earth Flame Python with Shadow Cloak, Gustavo continued developing three puppets. He eventually left his territory to seek experience, first visiting Mora and Bradley and giving them a sword and staff. His early puppets could convincingly pose as living followers, but he considered them too crude to operate independently 152 189.
During his battle with Wight, the Eye of Distortion dismantled his defenses and destroyed the Elia and Lennar puppets. Gustavo continued fighting alone and broke through to Tier Seven under pressure 205 206.
He later treated the injured Fujia Huanshe with Blood Marrow while secretly eating pieces of his regenerating flesh for gene fragments. Fujia accepted his explanation and became grateful to him, leaving Gustavo interested in recruiting him 212.
Land of Nightmares and Revenge
The Land of Nightmares drew Gustavo in after detecting his powerful soul. He immediately verified that his protective spatial mark still worked, then used Soul Devourer and the Star Swallowing Technique to turn a gluttony trial into an opportunity for growth 385.
In the Nightmare Casino, he countered a devil’s impossible dice result by revealing a split die of his own. His soul subsequently reached Tier Fourteen. When confronted by the Nightmare Projection, he activated Sylvain’s spatial mark and used his father’s projected power to destroy it with Fist of Destruction 386.
After creating Parasitic Spider Eggs and advancing to Legendary, Gustavo infiltrated Night City to retaliate against the Brooks Mercenary Corps. He enslaved Deputy Commander Aisi, used her to lure Brooks out of her mage tower, and struck Brooks with Death Knell and the Nightmare Greatsword 388 390.
Black Spider and the Demonic Sea
Three years of consuming dragon remains brought Gustavo to Epic Tier One and supplied material for combat puppets. His return to Black Spider produced both spectacular military victories and increasingly disastrous incidents associated with his luck-draining talent 474 476.
Sylvain assigned him to operations against Conservative Faction hardliners, but collateral misfortune escalated as far as a meteor devastating an administrative planet. The Thunder Star Pillar volunteered to supervise him on a guerrilla mission. When their ship emerged from a spatial storm beside a Crimson Alliance fleet, Gustavo’s army and evasive abilities ultimately helped them survive 476 478.
Later, while trapped with the King of the Demonic Sea in the Tirmis Gravitational Field, Gustavo received help from Mingke’er and Asuye. Mingke’er sealed the Goddess of Misfortune’s badge inside his soul, stopping its interference with his Fortune. Asuye admitted him to the Devouring Faction and gave him a strand of original Divine Power 585.
Gustavo gradually turned his enforced proximity to the King of the Demonic Sea into companionship. Logo and Lancelot supported his sanity, judgment, and willpower, while clan and faction resources enabled his advance to Peak Demigod 609.
Fate Supremacy War
During the Fate Supremacy War, Gustavo inhabited a prematurely born, weakened spider body and formed a blood pact with Victor. Victor protected him despite severe injuries, while Gustavo used poison and Fate Shop purchases to recover his strength 641 642.
The pair’s pact allowed them to amplify restoration effects and fuse their powers. Gustavo taught Victor the Black Hole Fission Meditation Method and helped him pursue revenge against the Shadow Serpent Clan 642 646 669.
Gustavo and Lancelot later ambushed Clauvidius and three other True Dragons. After killing and devouring them, Gustavo recovered his independent Invincible Demigod combat strength. Consuming Sophia subsequently carried him to Saint rank 681 684 690.
Divine Cultivation and the Demon-Hunting War
The Lord of the Fallen Realm taught Gustavo applications of the Devouring Divine Law and revealed that Dragon-Hunting Spiders had been created by an Eternal as weapons against the True Dragon Clan. He also gave Gustavo a one-use escape method against a Main God 723.
While searching through space-time storms, Gustavo discovered an Aslant Civilization planar warehouse and a component of the Illusory and Real Prism. His dealings with Queen Vera turned the discovery into a resource partnership 742 743 744.
Logo later gave him the Black Hole Origin Heart and insisted that he absorb it before devouring more Divine Laws. The painful reconstruction of his body and digestive space greatly advanced his understanding of Devouring 830.
During the Demon-Hunting War, Gustavo studied Abyss Sealing Studies, sealed his Mind Beast, and hunted throughout the Endless Abyss. His ability to move through deep space and resist Abyssal erosion let him evade stronger opponents while continually accumulating Divine Laws 930 931.
His reputation grew from that of an ordinary Peak True God to one of the war’s foremost Invincible True Gods. By its final stages, he had created at least six Main God techniques. However, his growing Mind Beast and an unexplained sense of agitation increasingly affected his behavior 966 1012 1013.
Fall into the Abyss and Later Conquests
Gustavo devoured fragments of the Heart of the Abyss despite recognizing the danger of deeper entanglement with the Abyss Will. Their negative emotions joined the Mind Beast in attacking his mental seals 1022.
When the Lord of Time attacked, Gustavo resisted with his expanding Dao and Main God Skills. He subsequently appeared in an armored, upright Abyssal form wielding the Ancient Sword of the Abyss. The Prison Lord later regretted not intervening, recognizing that the attack had allowed Gustavo to fall completely into the Abyss 1030 1031 1058.
After Gustavo and Kaos each claimed half of the Heart of the Abyss, the Abyss Will removed Gustavo’s share into the void and established rules for the sword: only Main God-realm demon lords could challenge him, and it would become his permanently if he remained undefeated for a thousand years 1057.
Gustavo later destroyed the Floating Light Civilization, killing its three Main Gods and devouring its population and territory within seven days. He identified Angley, God of Wisdom, as the mastermind behind the attack on the Aslant Civilization and marked her as future prey 1227.
In the Spirit Ruins, he devoured the accumulated wisdom and heart of an entire domain to attain Eternity. After consuming the collapsing ruins, he sensed that he had forgotten something and heard a voice ordering him to wake 1241.
During the Age of Great Conquest, Gustavo conquered the Rune Domain, sealed the Lord of Inscriptions, and strengthened his Abyss Card system with the Dao of Runes. Further conquests culminated in his advancement to Third-Step Eternity alongside Lancelot 1323.
Appearance
- Early spider form: Three meters tall and five meters across, with eight black, barbed legs, bony joint spikes, and folding-sickle tips lined with serrations 75.
- Armored development: After consuming the Ironback Azure Bear, he reaches nine meters tall and develops a thick, silver-white, spike-covered exoskeleton, especially protective of his abdomen 142.
- Reduced spider disguise: Compresses a twelve-meter body into a smooth-shelled, four-meter black spider with eight silver eyes and a vacant expression 191.
- Human form: Usually resembles a fair-skinned boy with plump cheeks and an innocently vacant expression. On Planet Illinois, he adopts a youthful appearance with slicked-back hair and a loose black forelock 724 830.
- Mature true form: By the time he absorbs the Black Hole Origin Heart, his natural spider body is almost as large as a star 830.
- Abyssal form: Stands upright with muscular limbs, heavy bone armor, Abyssal markings, a crown of Abyss Power, and eight bladed legs spread across his back like bony wings 1031.
- Eternal transformation: His eight dark green eyes turn gold; eternal light flows along his legs, and his armored spikes gain the power to tear laws apart 1241.
Personality
Gustavo is calculating, suspicious, and unusually cautious for a Dragon-Hunting Spider. He habitually considers defeat before victory, preserves escape methods, and uses apparent vulnerability to draw enemies into traps. His experiences with Luck Deprivation reinforce this tendency 85 619 831.
His caution coexists with ruthless predation and a strong appetite for revenge. He suppresses his species’ instinctive bloodlust rather than allowing it to dictate his actions, but shows little mercy toward enemies or prey. He prefers immediate retaliation and continues pursuing grudges even when opponents offer compensation 78 642 940.
With trusted companions and close family, he is teasing, generous, and sometimes deliberately ridiculous. He gives Mora and Bradley valuable equipment and resources, flatters powerful elders without embarrassment, and readily performs helplessness when it might gain him assistance. This shameless playfulness sharply contrasts with his clan’s aloof reputation 189 583 635 744 757.
Gustavo recognizes that power can distort his judgment. Daciu’s attack forces him to confront arrogance born from repeated victories and insufficient mental tempering. Later, the Mind Beast’s influence makes him increasingly irritable and battle-hungry despite his earlier emphasis on self-control 748 1013.
Abilities & Skills
Devouring and Genetic Assimilation
Gustavo’s principal path converts consumed beings and resources into personal growth, knowledge, and military material 390 478 609.
- Predator: Uses gene fragments to strengthen and evolve talents; in combination with Luck Deprivation, it accelerates their development 390.
- Soul Devourer: Absorbs soul energy, memories, and learned experience, including gravity knowledge and combat skills 140 142 474.
- Devourer: A perfect-grade talent that supports his comprehension of the Devouring Divine Law and can absorb hostile powers, including Bainide’s Dusk Contract 609 619.
- Devouring Divine Realm: Incorporates acquired Divine Laws, expanding from thirteen documented laws to hundreds during the Demon-Hunting War 723 931.
- Black-hole digestion: The Black Hole Origin Heart transforms his digestive space, allowing prey to remain inside while he continues hunting 830 931.
- Limits: Powerful talents strain his gene chain. Absorbed soul information also introduces negative emotions and stray thoughts that require management 390.
Soul Attacks and Control
His soul strength can greatly exceed his physical rank, making soul techniques one of his strongest offensive tools 386 617.
- Death Knell: Attacks and disrupts souls; he uses it to deepen Fujia’s sleep, disable Brooks, and shatter Hidden Thorn Zelanxia’s soul 212 390 619.
- Parasitic Spider Eggs: An ultimate-level, SSS-rank-equivalent soul talent that covertly subjugates living targets. At its introduction, Gustavo judges Peak Legendary targets unable to resist and Epic targets potentially controllable 390.
- Controller: Enslaves targets unable to resist and channels his soul strength into attacks and battlefield control. After enhancement, his soul techniques alone provide Peak Demigod combat power 617.
- Mental Pollution: Weaponizes negative emotions and mental impurities acquired through Soul Devourer instead of simply discarding them 390.
Gravity, Energy, and Spatial Movement
His inherited memories provide a broad foundation for gravity techniques, while previous-life energy-control experience accelerates his mastery of Star Capture 77 140.
- Gravity Control: Enables flight, reduces gravity’s hold on his body during charges, and creates gravitational fields and funnels to disrupt enemies 83 143 619.
- Star Capture: Improves energy strength and controllability while enhancing gravity-type attacks 119.
- Air-Stasis Corridor: Restrains movement and works alongside Gravity Control against fast opponents 90 119.
- Energy silk: Can be reinforced through gravity; Gustavo considers extremely thin strands suitable for cutting weapons and ambushes 77.
- Mobility limit: His early supersonic flight is possible but consumes substantial energy 143.
Martial Arts and Burst Techniques
Gustavo combines remembered martial expertise with physical talents to deliver attacks far above his ordinary output 83 226 386.
- Blood Qi Berserk: Burns flesh and blood to increase constitution and energy intensity; leaves the user weakened afterward 83.
- Muscle Berserk: Initially increases strength by 15% and speed by 10%, at the cost of higher stamina consumption 83.
- Furious Roar: Initially grants pain suppression for 60 seconds and increases strength and speed by 30% 85.
- Mental Resonance: Coordinates mental power and bodily energy, adds mental shockwaves to energy attacks, and can stun enemies with lower mental attributes 83.
- Fury of the Stars: Makes his energy more violent and destructive 207.
- Shred Max: Concentrates stacked physical and energy enhancements into his eight blade legs 226.
- Fist of Destruction: A self-created technique inspired by Greater Dispel Magic. In his previous life, he used it to shatter a deserted planet; its major drawback is a drastic reduction in strength afterward 386.
Defense, Poison, and Disguise
His defenses combine a powerful exoskeleton, enhanced vitality, toxicology, and methods of concealing his true capabilities 85 140 207.
- Thorn Iron Armor: Provides greatly increased passive defense, countershock damage, and active defensive applications 143 205.
- Tough Life: Grants 20 additional health points per Constitution point when first documented 207.
- Poison expertise: Draws on natural talent, the Complete Compendium of Top-Tier Poisons, Logo’s pharmaceutics, and inherited clan knowledge 140.
- Poison Calamity Body: Becomes several times stronger at Legendary and enters the top-tier talent category 390.
- Body compression: Physically shrinks and restructures his body rather than using magical shapeshifting. His four-meter disguise reduces combat power by about 30% 191.
- Existence concealment: Combines Garnacross’s Existence Erasure with Controller to temporarily erase the auras of his causality and fate 729.
Gene Warehouse and War Legions
Gustavo turns his own body into a mobile production base, using consumed material to support both individual advancement and armies 478.
- Gene Warehouse: Begins as a honeycomb-shaped structure made from physical spider silk inside his abdomen 143.
- Expanded mother nest: Golden Maple Tree material and spatial resources enlarge it to the area of a small or medium city and increase its gene-fragment absorption capacity a hundredfold 478.
- Dragon Soldiers: Use ancient True Dragon bones as principal material, giving them exceptional durability 478.
- Bloodline Sanctuary upgrades: Incorporates a mechanical dragon nest core and selected insect-clan genes to improve soldier production 616.
- Strategic role: Legion combat supplements his Devouring Law and personal fighting strength, giving him another avenue of improvement when individual cultivation stalls 617.
Fate and Foresight
His luck-related powers offer rapid growth and warning, but also expose him and nearby allies to severe consequences 476 609.
- Luck Deprivation: Helps drive talent growth but produces dangerous backlash and widespread misfortune 390 476 609.
- Future Insight: Helps him evade concentrated ship fire despite his enormous body 478.
- Flame of Luck: Raises his luck attribute by igniting pale golden flames over his Fortune 619.
- Warning Bell of Fate: Warns him of danger and releases fate mist that partially conceals his Fortune and karmic existence 617.
- Utterly Sincere Mind: Provides indistinct images of approaching threats 617.
Sealing and Main God Techniques
Sealing becomes a second central law alongside Devouring, allowing Gustavo to restrain prey, contain mental threats, and operate within the Abyss 930 1241.
- Abyss Sealing Studies: Protects against Abyss Power and the Abyss Will; later grants a strong suppressive advantage against Abyssal demons 930 931.
- Mental seals: Confine the Mind Beast within his sea of mind, though its continued growth threatens their stability 930 931 1022.
- Sealing webs: At Eternity, spreads threads across several light-years to immobilize fleeing Spirit Wisdom 1241.
- World Devouring: A Main God Skill used to swallow and digest Supreme True Gods 966.
- Void Devouring: An armor-breaking Main God Skill combining Devouring, Space, and Matter System mysteries, inspired by the Void-Devouring Claw 1014.
- Other Main God Skills: Fate Tribulation, Nightfall, and God Slaying appear among the techniques he combines against the Lord of Time 1030.
- Abyss Card system: Incorporates the Rune Domain’s Dao of Runes after he seals the Lord of Inscriptions 1323.
