Captain Lin is suspicious and methodical when assessing potential threats. After noticing Lu Chen’s composure and the strong smell of flames on him, he refuses a subordinate’s suggestion to kill him immediately. Instead, he orders continuous surveillance, a background investigation, and a review of the medical room’s footage 5.
His enforcement of authority is ruthless. He stabs a restrained suspected traitor during interrogation, orders Lu Chen captured dead or alive, and kicks an injured guard while demanding pursuit. His determination to catch Lu Chen also reflects concern for preserving his own position 5 7 8.
Although he insists that the base’s rules cannot be broken, Lu Chen’s power visibly intimidates him. Repeated defeats turn his controlled suspicion into anger and fear. Nevertheless, he continues organizing an evacuation while wounded as the base collapses 6 7 20 24.

History
Shelter Arrival and First Manhunt
Captain Lin first meets Lu Chen when he arrives at the temporary shelter carrying his injured father, with Xiao Lu accompanying him. He questions their origins, notices Xiao Lu’s healing talent, and offers to escort them to the medical room. Lu Chen refuses his help, leaving Lin increasingly suspicious 5.
That night, Lu Chen witnesses Lin torturing a suspected traitor before stealing medicine from the storeroom. Lin subsequently places him under surveillance and orders an investigation into his background and activities 5.
When Lu Chen attempts to leave with his father and Xiao Lu, Lin confronts him over the alleged theft of a regeneration agent and the unauthorized removal of a patient. He also offers to protect Lu Chen’s father if Lu Chen joins them. Lu Chen rejects the offer and evades the ensuing search by using upgraded thermal-shielding and vision talents to escape through a drainage pipe 6 7.
Lin responds by sealing the base, ordering inspections, and detaining people with Eagle Eye-type talents. He prioritizes finding Xiao Lu as a route to Lu Chen. While reviewing surveillance, he also recognizes a ragged man carrying a child near the rear gate, reacting with surprise and saying, “Long time no see...” 7 8.
Medical-Area Confrontations
When Lu Chen returns in disguise to obtain a nerve regeneration agent, Lin exposes him and orders the guards to attack. Lu Chen incapacitates them with gravity manipulation and flames, takes the medicine, and escapes. Lin raises the alarm and orders him stopped dead or alive 8.
Later, Lin personally guards the room holding Lu Chen’s unconscious father. He intercepts the rescue attempt and fires an electromagnetic pulse gun while Lu Chen is carrying his father 19.
The confrontation ends in Lin’s defeat. Lu Chen blocks the gunfire, attacks with flames and sonic oscillation, shatters Lin’s eardrums, and destroys his weapon before escaping through a drainage pipe. Lin orders pursuit, the destruction of surveillance footage, martial law, and a report to Professor Zhao about the escaped test subject 20.
Base Collapse and Death
Lin brings armed soldiers onto the battlefield during Lu Chen’s assault on the base and demands that everyone surrender their weapons. Lu Chen shoots apart his communicator, cutting his cheek with the fragments and intimidating the soldiers into silence 22.
Following Professor Zhao’s death, Lin organizes an evacuation despite his injuries. He confronts Lu Chen, blames him for destroying the base, and objects when he prepares to leave with Su Wan, her injured father, and Xiao Lu while others still need help 24.
Lu Chen copies Lin’s Tactical Command during the encounter. When Lin fires his pistol at Lu Chen’s back, the shot fails to hit him. Lu Chen retaliates with a wall of fire, reducing Lin to ashes within seconds 24.
