Taking Stock of the Spoils
Su Han thought it over.
The Blood Pillar Realm was the fifth realm.
The strength granted by this cultivation technique at that realm roughly corresponded to the level of a true disciple of the Ten Thousand Immortals Cult.
Even if he asked Kong Fuxian for anything beyond that, he probably wouldn't be able to get it.
Chen Yixi's life wasn't worth that much.
Once he knew this really was the limit,
Su Han stopped haggling and agreed.
"Deal."
"How do we make the exchange?" Kong Fuxian asked.
"Send the cultivation techniques to Chen Yixi's phone," Su Han replied. "Once I've confirmed there's nothing wrong with them, I'll naturally let her go."
Kong Fuxian was uneasy and made a request.
"I want to make the exchange in person."
"No." Su Han refused outright. "Do as I said."
"How can I trust you to let her go?"
"You don't have to trust me, but whether Chen Yixi lives or dies is up to you."
In the end, Kong Fuxian sighed.
After all, she was in Su Han's hands.
With the two of them speaking over the phone, even if he was stronger than Su Han, he couldn't bring that strength to bear.
So he could only accept the condition and agree.
"All right, I'll send them to you now."
"I hope you'll keep your word."
The call ended.
Not long afterward, the phone promptly chimed twice.
It had received two messages.
Su Han hurriedly opened them.
They were two files.
The first was the complete cultivation technique for Surging Waves Immortal Martial Arts: Wolf Smoke Chapter.
The second was the complete cultivation technique for Surging Waves Immortal Martial Arts: Blood Pillar Chapter.
Su Han quickly read through them.
With his current comprehension at over seven hundred points, he was fully deserving of the title of monster.
He could also easily work out whether the two cultivation techniques were logical and complete.
A moment later, Su Han understood.
They were both genuine.
He put the phone away.
Chen Yixi was still lying nearby, having watched the phone call and Su Han receiving the messages.
Seeing that they were nearly finished, she spoke again,
her voice much colder than before.
"Su Han, you've received the cultivation techniques."
"Now, you can let me go, can't you?"
Su Han nodded, seemingly with no intention of going back on his word.
"You can go."
Chen Yixi hadn't expected Su Han to agree so readily.
Delighted, she wanted to leave as quickly as possible,
but her limbs had been crippled, and she couldn't bring even a fraction of her strength to bear.
Lying on the ground, she could only scrape against the floor, unable to do anything at all.
Su Han watched her from the side without speaking.
Chen Yixi struggled for a long time.
Finally, she gritted her teeth and spoke.
"You... help me up."
"Or call me a car."
But Su Han still said nothing.
He just watched her quietly.
A sudden wave of unease rose in Chen Yixi's heart.
She looked into Su Han's eyes.
They were cold, as cold as ice.
There wasn't a trace of emotion in them.
"You..." Chen Yixi's voice trembled slightly, and a chill ran through her heart.
But she didn't get the chance to finish what she was going to say.
Su Han suddenly moved.
Without the slightest warning.
His qi and blood erupted as he blasted a punch at Chen Yixi.
His fist, wrapped in blood-colored flames, crashed into Chen Yixi's chest like a red-hot hammer.
"Splurt!"
Chen Yixi's chest caved in instantly.
All her internal organs shattered.
Chen Yixi's eyes widened, and bloody foam welled from her mouth.
She lay in a pool of blood, staring fixedly at Su Han, her eyes full of disbelief.
She spoke in a broken voice.
"You... wh... why..."
"Didn't you... promise to let me go?"
Su Han looked at her, his voice calm.
"I already let you go just now."
"But unfortunately..."
"You didn't leave."
Chen Yixi's eyes flew wide.
Her face was full of resentment and unwillingness.
But with her internal organs shattered, her life force rapidly ebbed away, and she couldn't utter another word.
Soon, the light faded from her eyes.
Her head lolled to one side, and she breathed no more.
Su Han withdrew his hand and casually flicked the blood off it.
He had never intended to truly let Chen Yixi go.
After all, from the moment he had killed Zhao Lei, he had already offended the Ten Thousand Immortals Cult.
He had long since thought it through.
Whether or not he killed Chen Yixi, they wouldn't let him off.
In that case, why let the tiger return to the mountain?
Since he had offended them, he might as well do it thoroughly.
Su Han paid no more attention to Chen Yixi's corpse.
He began taking stock of tonight's gains.
He had come to downtown Jinghai City tonight and seemingly done nothing but wander around.
But Su Han was very satisfied.
He had gotten what he wanted.
First was the Giant Whale Sect's Secret Martial Arts, which he had obtained and cultivated to the True Gang stage.
With the fusion of three kinds of True Gang, plus his Immortal Martial Arts qi and blood reaching the Beacon Fire Realm,
his strength had soared to a new level.
His chances of taking revenge had increased a little more.
Next,
he had also obtained a clue about the real culprit behind his parents' deaths.
Self-Circulating City, and the so-called "benefactors."
Sooner or later, he would kill those so-called benefactors and avenge his family.
The Ten Thousand Immortals Cult didn't know any more, so he could only start looking for clues with the Sturgeon Group.
He would definitely pay the Sturgeon Group another visit later.
Then there were the Immortal Martial Arts cultivation techniques. This time, Su Han had obtained the next two installments in one go.
The Wolf Smoke Realm and the Blood Pillar Realm.
At his cultivation speed, he would probably need them soon.
When the time came, his strength would rise once again.
Lastly, there was his older sister.
Although he hadn't found her yet, at least he knew she was at Benevolence Hospital, not far away.
Su Han finished taking stock of everything.
He truly had gained a great deal this time.
Then he looked out the window at the city, where daylight was beginning to break.
He knew it was time to leave.
Su Han stood up and walked out of the room.
Unlike last night, there were people in the corridor again.
Several hotel staff members, mingled with security patrol officers and hotel guests.
Everyone wore an expression of fear and bewilderment as they went about their business, moving back and forth in a constant bustle.
Outside, all kinds of alarms and clamor continued to sound.
Given the scene and the fighting yesterday, things were presumably still in utter chaos even now.
Su Han blended into the crowd and walked out of the hotel.
He came out onto the street.
Day had fully broken.
But the sky was still dim, as though shrouded in a layer of gray mist.
Smoke rose everywhere, like ruins in the aftermath of a fire.
Farther away, he could indeed see quite a few fire engines putting out fires, with personnel rushing about anxiously.
Large sections of buildings had collapsed on both sides of the street.
Broken walls and piles of rubble lay everywhere.
Su Han looked again at the Giant Whale Sect's tower in the distance.
The tower had been broken in half, with charred remnants everywhere; its former splendor and prosperity were gone.
Judging by the marks where it had broken, it looked as though someone had smashed it apart by force.
Many other buildings had collapsed as well.
It looked as though a major earthquake had struck.
And indeed,
the Ten Thousand Immortals Cult's operation last night had been a major earthquake for Jinghai City.
The power struggles and battles between major forces were a calamity that fell upon ordinary people through no fault of their own.
But none of that had anything to do with Su Han.
From beginning to end, Su Han's only goal had been to find his enemies and take revenge.
He took one last look, then turned and left.
He blended into the crowd and disappeared.
