Amun
A Goblin strode into the living room.
He was old, and wore a neatly pressed, custom-made flannel suit, which made the Goblin look rather strange.
Not only does it clash with Gringotts, a Gringotts, but it also contradicts his Goblin identity.
"Welcome, both of you, especially you, Mr. Stark." Jorah smiled.
"I applied to Gringotts in the United Kingdom a long time ago to invite you to Egypt, thankfully it wasn't too late."
"You're too kind," William said casually.
"I presume your Order of the Phoenix has already reached an agreement with Gringotts in the United Kingdom regarding the specific terms for dealing with the Death Eaters."
Jorah clearly knew who was in charge in the United Kingdom now, and didn't mention the Ministry of Magic at all.
He paused, then said with emphasis, "Let's not discuss this further here. Let's go directly to find out about the condition of the Temple of Amun..."
Upon arrival, the Goblin was already urging William to get to work, not even giving him a night's rest... typical old capitalist.
William waved his hand and smiled:
"Time is of the essence, and this is the right thing to do both morally and logically, but..."
He said in a troubled tone:
"The situation has changed beyond my expectations. I need Mr. Jorah to give me a reasonable explanation."
Otherwise, this agreement... will have to be dropped.
Jorah frowned. "Is there anything that bothers you?"
"When I arrived in Cairo, I saw an apartment building collapsed, and many people were dead, including many of the wizards who had participated in the Alchemy conference."
William squinted at the Goblin:
"I know the Egyptian Ministry of Magic didn't dare let me in. It was only through Gringotts ' mediation that they sent me an invitation."
Gringotts is also one of the organizers of the event.
"But with so many wizards dying at once, neither the Egyptian Ministry of Magic nor you seem to be quite indifferent?"
William's question was pointed, but given his current power and status, there was no need for him to be too polite.
Besides, Goblin fear power more than virtue.
The more polite you are to this kind of race, the less polite they become.
Moreover, there are indeed many doubts surrounding this matter... William has every reason to question it, both morally and logically.
Jorah seemed quite troubled. He rubbed his hands together, and after a moment, lowered his voice:
"Mr. Stark, we're now partners, and I won't hide this from you. Actually, we have some history together."
William raised his eyebrows high.
"You surely remember Arya Grindelwald, who caused the Paris nuclear crisis," the Goblin said.
The Egypt Wizarding World was aware that Arya had come to Egypt.
The International Confederation of Wizards held in Vienna that year specifically discussed this matter and even warned the Egyptian Ministry of Magic.
"A few years ago, we discovered Cleopatra VII's tomb, and after much difficulty, we managed to break through it," the Goblin said angrily.
"But Arya suddenly appeared, killed many Goblin, and stole the most important magical item from the tomb."
"You mean, she was responsible for the apartment collapse too?" Hermione asked.
"Very likely," Jorah said.
"This Alchemy conference will discuss how to open the Temple of Amun. She probably wanted to stop us, so she assassinated those wizards."
Is there any evidence?
"Of course." Jorah nodded. "Have you two heard of the Muslim Brotherhood?"
William nodded slightly.
He had heard of this organization in his previous life.
Founded in 1928, it is a religious and political organization primarily based on Sunni traditions.
Although it had been designated a terrorist organization before William's time travel, in reality...
At an earlier point in time, the Muslim Brotherhood was one of the major forces dominating Egypt.
Even after the so-called "Arab Spring" in the West, which was actually the "Arab Winter" of "democratic" Revolutions, the Muslim Brotherhood seized the opportunity to rise to power and even had a president.
This organization not only has a huge influence in the Muggle world... but also plays a pivotal role in the Egypt Wizarding World.
"The founding of the Muslim Brotherhood is related to Grindelwald," Jorah said.
Its Founders was Hassan Banner, who was not only a wizard but also a Grindelwald's Acolytes and a subordinate of Grindelwald.
Back then, Grindelwald sent him to Egypt to gain the support of that land.
This is easy to understand, as Egypt was United Kingdom colony at the time.
The United Kingdom Ministry of Magic also has control over the Egypt Wizarding World.
Given the situation in Europe at the time, if a wizarding war broke out, United Kingdom wizards would likely land in Egypt and steal Grindelwald's homeland.
To launch a great holy war across Europe while protecting their home front, they naturally needed the support of wizards from the Middle East and Africa.
This further highlights the difference in strategic vision between Voldemort and Grindelwald.
This second kid has spent most of his life hopping around in that tiny corner of the United Kingdom, but he still hasn't figured it out.
At his peak, Grindelwald's influence extended all the way to Egypt.
And its lingering influence continues to this day.
"After Grindelwald's defeat, the organization was almost wiped out, and even Hassan was killed," Jorah sighed. "Just like the Death Eaters of the past decade."
"But after lying low for a while, they became active again and started moving around."
The collapse of the apartment building was inextricably linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.
"As for whether it has anything to do with Arya?" Jorah shrugged.
"It's obvious that she's Grindelwald's daughter, and her title alone is enough to easily gather the Muslim Brotherhood around her."
Moreover, given what she did in Paris, she had already become a spiritual leader for many dark wizards.
"So it's not that we're indifferent, but that the enemy is wantonly sabotaging and preventing our rescue," Jorah said.
William neither confirmed nor denied this explanation, but he also found it quite reasonable.
In this situation, Arya is indeed the prime suspect.
Since the explanation made sense, William stopped worrying about it for the time being.
Led by Jorah, the three strode toward a narrow metal passage.
"This is it," the Goblin said, opening a magically protected door for them. "We're here."
William and Hermione stepped into another world.
This small room looks like a holographic movie theater:
The phantom of a temple floats in mid-air.
Giant stone pillars support massive rocks, and the building also features ancient relics such as a sphinx and a ram, creating a magnificent and awe-inspiring structure.
"Muggle call it the Karnak Temple, or the Temple of Amun," Jorah explained.
The Karnak Temple was part of Thebes, the capital of Egypt during the Middle and New Kingdom periods.
It was also the center of worship for the sun god Amun and the site of the largest temple in ancient Egypt.
In fact, in ancient times, wizards and Muggle lived together, and wizards ruled over the latter.
The most powerful wizards were elevated to godhood by Muggle, becoming various kinds of "gods".
Powerful wizards also protect ordinary people from natural disasters and even resist attacks from powerful Magical Creatures.
Amun, as the most powerful sorcerer of that era, helped the pharaoh establish the Eleventh Dynasty of Egypt.
His status quickly rose to that of the chief god of all Egypt.
As for Ra, who originally held the highest position as the sun god, he was replaced.
In fact, the two merged among Muggle to become the so-called "Amun -Ra" god.
This temple before us is what he left behind.
However, that's not the point.
The key point is this temple, which is also the world's oldest magic school.
Back then, the Four Founders studied here.
It was also William's destination in his search for the Land of Death...
And the four coffins left behind by the Four Founders are right here!
