Death's Daughter
The Lady of the Lake... When William heard that name again, he felt terrible.
He wanted nothing more than to punch Arya, then grab her fishnet-covered outfit bandages and slam her against her body.
Questioning and inquiring:
"So you're called the Lady of the Lake?!"
No wonder he loathed her so much; didn't that mysterious witch also call herself Vivian, the Lady of the Lake?
Or was it... a trend at the time, where witches would go out calling themselves "the Lady of the Lake"?
Just like girls nowadays, regardless of whether they're tanks or not, they all uniformly call themselves "little fairies"... Actually, they're more like mountain girls.
The witch originally thought that revealing her identity, even if it couldn't intimidate the two of them, would at least allow her to take control of the conversation.
To her surprise, they both stared at her with strange expressions, as if she were a con artist.
"What's wrong? Is something wrong?" she asked, somewhat annoyed.
"If I may ask, what kind of special organization is the Lady of the Lake? Like the Death Eaters?" William said with a slightly teasing tone.
"Anyone who joins can have this title?"
The witch naturally understood the sarcasm, but instead of getting angry, she patiently explained:
"The Lady of the Lake is not an organization, nor is it a single person; it's a term used to refer to a group of people."
Who is it?
"The witches who live in Avalon."
"Avalon..." William repeated the place name.
Avalon was certainly aware of this, given that stories of the Lady of the Lake, Merlin, and King Arthur were repeatedly circulated in the Muggle and wizarding worlds.
Moreover, William pinpointed its location to be in the Underworld.
The mysterious witch who called herself Vivian was imprisoned there.
Earlier, she had even given William a fake Book of Two Ways, attempting to lure him there.
"Before I was killed, the Lady of the Lake, including myself, were reduced to only three." The witch sighed, looking at William and Hermione:
"Did you encounter the witch who claimed to be the Lady of the Lake? What was her name? Was she Elaine?!"
Hermione shook her head and said, "She said... her name is Vivian."
The witch suddenly clenched her fists, a flash of anger crossing her face:
"I am Vivian, she is impersonating me!"
William and Hermione exchanged a knowing look.
Not long ago, they suspected that the witch imprisoned at Stonehenge was not Vivian.
According to Sir Cadogan:
Merlin could not possibly have imprisoned Vivian for 1,500 years; that would be an act of utter hatred.
"Does she have any other distinguishing features?" the witch pressed.
"That witch is imprisoned inside Stonehenge and can only contact us through magical projections," William said.
Vivian's eyes were cold, as if she already knew her identity.
"So who exactly is she? Is she Morgan le Fay?" Hermione asked softly.
The witch glanced at the girl in surprise, then nodded hesitantly:
"I don't know how you knew her identity, but I'm certain, she is Morgan!"
Vivian scoffed:
"She impersonated me back then and tricked Merlin into a carefully prepared trap."
"I can't believe that 1,500 years later, they're still using the same tricks; they haven't improved at all."
"However, I thought she was long dead because Merlin trapped her inside Stonehenge," the witch said menacingly.
"I never expected that power could seep out from Stonehenge. It's truly remarkable."
"Aren't you... the spirit of Egypt's Beautiful Queen?" Hermione asked cautiously.
"Grindelwald said, 'It is from her tomb that your soul will be resurrected.'"
"You mean that young wizard? I've seen him." Vivian simply smiled.
"He was truly remarkable; he summoned my soul from Cleopatra VII's tomb."
But is what's lying there necessarily the mummy of Cleopatra VII?
"That woman's soul has long since become the tonic that nourishes my soul and helps me resurrect."
William stared at the witch and suddenly remembered that she had indeed said she had been "killed."
Vivian was lost in thought for a moment before explaining in a weary voice:
"When I died, only a remnant soul remained; even the Holy Grail could not revive me."
Merlin led me to the tomb of Cleopatra VII.
This female pharaoh meticulously prepared many things in preparation for her resurrection.
Merlin then grafted my soul onto the mummy, using her resurrection methods to slowly nurture the soul.
Just as I was about to be resurrected, Grindelwald arrived and forcibly removed me from the mummy, bringing me back to life.
He mistook me for Egypt's Beautiful Queen, but I am not; I am Vivian, the Lady of the Lake.
"Who killed you?" William was more curious about this question.
"Morgan did it!" Vivian gritted her teeth.
"In the Battle of Camlann, King Arthur killed Mordred, but was also seriously wounded in the back."
"King Arthur was dying at the time, Morgan escorted him to Avalon."
I thought Morgan had repented, so I agreed to help with the treatment.
Then she suddenly attacked me, almost killing me, then transformed into my likeness, set a trap, and invited Merlin to the appointment.
Vivian paused for a moment and said:
"But she was no match for Merlin. In exchange for my soul, Merlin spared her life, trapping her within Stonehenge instead of killing her."
"Why did you trust Morgan back then?" Hermione asked astutely.
She felt this was very illogical; if Voldemort suddenly surrendered, either Dumbledore or William might have been believed by some people.
The Dark Lord is the Dark Lord... yet Vivian softens and trusts Morgan?
She's either a true saint, or there's something else going on.
"Because of Morgan..." Vivian gave a bitter laugh. "She was also Lady of the Lake, she was my... younger sister!"
"Morgan is your sister? Isn't she the Duke of Cornwall's daughter?" William looked completely bewildered.
Vivian looked up at the sky with a hint of bewilderment and said:
"These are some unspeakable secrets, do you want to hear them?"
William, not considering himself an outsider, said with a gossipy expression, "Anyway, the night is long, so there's no harm in listening."
According to the History of Magic, Morgan and King Arthur were half-siblings.
At that time, King Uther fell in love with a duchess Igraine Ignatius.
Merlin cast Transfiguration Spell, making King Uther look exactly like her husband, the Duke of Cornwall, thus helping King Uther to reunite with Igraine.
Igraine eventually became pregnant and gave birth to King Arthur.
Morgan is the daughter of Igraine and the Duke of Cornwall...
William always believed that Morgan hated Merlin so much because he had helped King Uther cheat on her father.
Now it seems there's even more explosive news to come.
"Morgan, like King Arthur, was not the son of the Duke of Cornwall," Vivian whispered, revealing the secret from back then.
"Before Merlin helped King Uther, there were others who did the same thing as King Uther long before Merlin did."
On his wedding night, he transformed into the Duke of Cornwall and spent the night with Igraine.
After that night, Igraine became pregnant and gave birth to Morgan.
"..."
The Duke of Cornwall's green is even purer than I imagined.
Not only was he cheated on on his wedding night, but neither of the two children his wife gave birth to were his biological children?
That's so pitiful!
And Duchess Igraine, she's really unlucky... Why does it always end up being her husband, spending the night with her?
How beautiful must she be?
Most importantly, who was that beast who transformed into the Duke of Cornwall on their wedding night?!
So clever!
That man was my father and Morgan's father.
"He is... Death."
"..."
"We are all daughters of Death."
