Quirrell Died Such an Unjust Death
In his past life, William had seen this job posting:
Summer jobs are being offered in the Syria war zone. Part-time positions are available. The salary is 8,000 yen per day, paid daily.
It's no different from playing PUBG normally, and we provide guns and rocket launchers. You drive an 8x4 off-road truck, all of which are bulletproof, and meals and accommodation are included.
With such favorable conditions, William was immediately tempted. He was a master at winning in PUBG, a real sneaky player.
It's a pity William wasn't old enough, otherwise he would definitely have signed up.
Regardless of whether the bidding process is real or fake, at least they know one thing: high risk, high reward.
Correspondingly, the wages of crematorium workers who carry corpses are also very high.
After all, in that location, there's a very high chance of encountering strange and supernatural events. Who knows, you might even become a ghost after being scratched by a fingernail...
So the question arises: what about the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor at Hogwarts?
Low pay, lots of work, high pressure, and an irresponsible boss...
Wait, these descriptive terms seem to apply to most positions.
And let's add one more thing: the mortality rate is high!
In three consecutive years, two professors died, and one was imprisoned in Azkaban... And this is only the number William currently knows; surely there are many more he doesn't know?
Suddenly, the school legend of the cursed Defence Against Dark Magic... resurfaced once again.
What was the cause of Quirrell's death?
The students naturally cleared themselves of all suspicion immediately.
Many analysts believe that Quirrell's death was caused by the excessive academic pressure at Hogwarts.
There are seven years in total, and only one Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor, Quirrell. He gets up earlier than Hagrid and goes to bed later than Filch every day, with classes packed full of non-stop.
Even the strongest body will break down from overwork!
Professor Binns died from excessive pressure, didn't he? Even in death, he still had to continue serving the evil Hogwarts.
As for the usual pranks, those were just to relieve Professor Quirrell's stress.
That makes so much sense that William was speechless!
Fourth floor (Restricted Section).
Dumbledore stood silently before Quirrell's body.
Snape looked grim as he stared at the poison that had been drunk on the table, feeling deeply distressed.
It wasn't because of Quirrell's death that I was saddened, but because of myself.
Regardless of how many injuries Quirrell suffered, the most crucial cause of death was drinking poison, and that cannot be changed.
Am I going to Azkaban again?
Damn it!
They shouldn't have listened to Dumbledore and foolishly brewed so much poison. They should have added some cough syrup or something similar to disguise it as poison.
"Don't worry, Severus," Dumbledore said calmly.
"Take a look at the back of Quirrell's head."
Snape walked over curiously and turned Quirrell over.
His head was bald, with a noticeable indentation on the back of his head, as if something had once been placed there but was now gone.
"This is..."
"A Dark Magic, a very profound, evil Dark Magic."
It allows a wizard to inhabit the body of another wizard and, to some extent, use the host's body.
"Of course, the cost is that the host's lifespan will be significantly reduced," Dumbledore explained.
"Who's attached themselves to Quirrell's head?" Snape's voice trembled.
"You know who it is, Severus." Dumbledore stared at Quirrell's corpse.
Snape's face was extremely grim. He said in a strange tone, "You knew all along that the man... was on Quirrell's head?"
"Yes, I sensed something strange when I first met Quirrell. Although he hid it very well, making it difficult for most people to detect, I happen to be much more observant than most."
Dumbledore spoke calmly, without much pride.
"After what happened at Gringotts, I became even more certain of my guess."
"You knew that person was on Quirrell, yet you let him stay at the school?" Snape glared angrily at Dumbledore.
"Principal, is your brain full of Troll snot?!"
With so many students at school, and Potter... impulsive, arrogant, haughty, ignorant... that man wanted to kill him!
Aren't you afraid?
"Severus, the choices Harry will face in the future will likely be far more difficult than they are now!" Dumbledore's voice was deep and calm.
"This is a test and a trial, it's very important! If I can't even withstand this, I'll have to change my plans ahead of schedule."
"Besides, I'm keeping a close eye on Quirrell."
"And Quirrell's death? Was that also within your expectations?" Snape scoffed.
Silence, a terrible silence.
Dumbledore miscalculated.
In his original plan, Harry was supposed to gradually discover Quirrell's problem under various forms of guidance, and eventually voluntarily enter the Restricted Section on the fourth floor.
Inside the Restricted Section, Harry, with the help of his friends, overcomes various obstacles and ultimately bravely confronts Voldemort, defeating him with the power left behind by Lily!
This is how the whole story should unfold.
But plans can't keep up with changes.
Dumbledore never imagined that Voldemort would wreak havoc in the Forbidden Forest last night, recklessly draining Quirrell's life force.
Even more unexpectedly, after the great battle, he actually came to the Restricted Section to steal the Philosopher's Stone.
Most surprisingly, Quirrell, a character whose role was merely a plot device, died before the story even ended.
He also has a bit of a headache now.
"What do you plan to do with this Restricted Section?" Snape asked. "And the Philosopher's Stone?"
"Keep it." Dumbledore sighed. "I know Voldemort better than he knows himself."
I'm pretty sure Voldemort didn't leave. He wouldn't just walk away like that; he's definitely hiding somewhere in the school.
"Where could he be hiding?" Snape frowned.
Dumbledore moment, then said softly, "Many, I will check them all one by one, but I'm afraid he might be hiding somewhere I don't know."
"Is there anything about this school that you don't know?" Snape scoffed.
"Severus, Hogwarts has many secrets, and even I cannot know them all."
There is such a place now; I know it exists, but after searching for a long time, I still haven't found its exact location.
Snape looked at Dumbledore with suspicion, as if trying to discern whether he was telling the truth.
After a moment, Snape asked again, "What about Quirrell?"
He was a Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor, and he died so mysteriously at the school. The Ministry of Magic will investigate. How do you explain that?"
Dumbledore had already prepared his explanation. He calmly said, "It was Quirrell who attacked Gringotts. He is a dark wizard lurking in the school."
I think Cornelius would be happy to see such a criminal caught, even if it's just a corpse!
"Where's the evidence? Will the Ministry of Magic believe it?" Snape asked.
"My words are the evidence. He wasn't in his room at night, but appeared in the Restricted Section. He was obviously trying to steal the Philosopher's Stone."
Dumbledore pointed to Quirrell's body, "You see, he's lying right here."
"Perhaps he was just curious... the evidence isn't that convincing," Snape countered.
"William is my witness. I will have him questioned by the Auror and tell them that he is certain Quirrell is... the black wizard who attacked Gringotts."
"Isn't that a bad idea?" Snape shook his head. "Stark is the only eyewitness, and the Ministry of Magic will definitely have to release his testimony to the public in order to close the case."
Snape said in an exaggerated tone, with exaggerated sarcasm:
"What will the newspapers say? Ha! The youngest recipient of the Order of Merlin has once again resisted the dark wizard and protected Gringotts!"
How will the public react? Will excessive praise negatively impact the child's development?
"William is more mature than you think."
Snape shrugged noncommittally.
Although he disliked Stark, he didn't want him to become like Potter!
Come to think of it... why is Harry's personality so unlike Lily's?
Snape let out a long, regretful sigh.
If Harry were Harley, he would risk his life to adopt her!
Dumbledore waved his wand, and Quirrell's body floated up, enveloped in a huge box.
Dumbledore picked up the parchment scroll from the table again and glanced at the empty Potions Number Four.
After a long silence, he finally couldn't help but ask, "By the way, Severus, what was the answer you calculated?"
Snape asked curiously:
"What's wrong? Don't you know? The answer is obvious," Dumbledore, "You have a 2 in your hand, and Snape has an 8."
"..."
"What's wrong?" Snape looked completely bewildered. "Did I miscalculate? Impossible... You must be wrong, Headmaster!"
Snape vehemently refused to admit he was wrong.
Dumbledore silent; he suddenly felt that Quirrell's death... was somewhat unjust.
