Merlin Did It Too
Whether Merlin was the world's number one braggart, William doesn't know, but Sir Cadogan certainly looks a lot like him.
According to him, he came from an ordinary, unremarkable wizarding family.
The wand was unremarkable, well... it was more like unusual... it was made of Blackthorn wood with Troll whisker whisker core.
This is very rare.
The last time I saw Troll core wand was a few years ago, a creation by Cedric.
That Halloween, Quirrell let Troll into the school. After it was killed by William, Cedric used the Troll's hair to make this wand.
Aside from the extremely long delay in casting spells, it's not much different from a regular wand.
To what extent will it be delayed?
To put it simply, after you unleash an Avada Kedavra, never put your wand in your pocket.
Because you never know when it might suddenly release a green light and hit you.
I never imagined that Sir Cadogan's wand had Troll core. Tell me, is this kind of wizard... one of King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table?
If he didn't get in through King Arthur's back door, then he must be King Arthur's biological son.
"No, it was Merlin who introduced me; I didn't pull any strings!" Sir Cadogan angrily clenched his fist.
Oh, so you went through Merlin's back door.
Surprisingly, Sir Cadogan was also a close friend of Merlin.
Sir Cadogan was indeed a friend of Merlin; otherwise, he wouldn't have been placed in the Knights.
Back then, the Knights were a legitimate organization... the kind that provided a stable stipend from King Arthur.
"I have three wives... The four of us live together happily, harmoniously, and very comfortably!"
Sir Cadogan was still a winner in life up to this point, until one day...
He drew the longsword and brandished it angrily.
"The Wyvern of Wye struck southwest England, causing immense devastation."
Then, King Arthur sent me to defeat the Wyvern of Wye.
"Wyvern of Wye?" Hermione squinted in confusion; she had never heard of this species of dragon before.
"Magical Creatures that lives near the River Wye, similar to a fire dragon, we all call it the Wyvern of Wye."
Sir Cadogan looked smug and boasted:
"Those two dragons were at least a hundred meters long; compared to them, ordinary fire dragons were like lizards."
William and Hermione exchanged a glance.
It sounds like... the Little White Dragon and the Xiaohong from the Goblet of Fire.
Sir Cadogan continued recounting his adventures with great enthusiasm.
"The first time I faced a dragon, it ate my horse, broke my staff, and melted my sword."
But I was not afraid!
I found a new mount—a chubby little pony—and rode it, charging towards the dragon once more.
He pointed to the pony beside him, which was grazing and completely ignored him.
"At that time, all I had left was a broken wand, and nothing else."
But I was fearless, forging ahead without hesitation, displaying great courage...
Sir Cadogan's face flushed slightly, growing increasingly excited:
"The dragon tried to swallow me and the horse whole, so I slid in... and dove into its mouth, piercing its tongue with my Troll wand."
Good heavens... William was completely speechless; this was the first time he'd ever seen someone slide right into an enemy's mouth.
"I know I was hasty, but the arrow is on the bowstring and must be released." Sir Cadogan brandished his greatsword, putting on a show:
"The spell I cast a few days ago has finally been released from my wand, causing a terrible explosion..."
"You killed the dragon?" Hermione asked.
"You escaped?" William said.
"No... no, I was eaten and died." Sir Cadogan shook his head.
"After I died, my three wives took my inheritance and remarried, and my son is now calling other women 'Dad'."
"..."
You make it sound so exciting, with William and Sir Cadogan!
After all that, his story wasn't a comedy at all; it was a complete tragedy, with a touch of dark humor.
As expected, the Troll wand was completely unreliable; a spell could delay things for so long.
If Sir Cadogan had been swallowed any later, he might have become the first wizard to be killed by his own spell.
"Where's Merlin? Isn't he your friend?" Hermione asked sharply. "Where did he go?"
"At that time, Merlin had been missing for a long time."
Sir Cadogan squatted in front of the pony, sulking. He pulled up a blade of grass that had luckily escaped being trampled by the horse's hooves and chewed on it, grass and mud along with it.
"Everyone says he's dead, killed by Vivian, the Lady of the Lake."
Otherwise, King Arthur wouldn't have sent us to deal with that dragon.
"Is this rumor true?" William asked, frowning.
This statement is almost identical to what he found.
"Of course it's fake." Sir Cadogan shook his head.
"How could Merlin possibly be killed? Besides, Vivian is his student; why would she trap Merlin?"
The implication was that Merlin was still being held captive. Hermione immediately said:
Who trapped him?
"The evil black witch... Morgan le Fay, she transformed into Vivian, deceived Merlin, and imprisoned him."
William squinted and thought carefully; as expected, the rumors were all unreliable.
As for Morgan le Fay, most wizards have heard of him.
Because of her name, it also appears on the Chocolate Frog Card.
Morgan le Fay was not only a famous dark wizard, but also King Arthur's half-sister.
Unlike Merlin, almost all the historical accounts of King Arthur's origins are the same.
King Arthur was the son of King Uther and Igraine, wife of the Duke of Cornwall.
Uther was a good wife, especially the wife of the Duke of Cornwall.
With Merlin's help, he transformed into the Duke of Cornwall, entered the castle where Igraine resided, and spent the night with her.
After that, she became pregnant with Arthur.
After the Duke of Cornwall died, Igraine married King Uther and had this child.
Morgan was the daughter of the Duke of Cornwall and Igraine, so... Morgan and King Arthur were half-siblings.
Morgan's descent into darkness, becoming a dark wizard and wanting to kill Merlin, is not entirely incomprehensible.
After all, it was Merlin who helped Uther do those dirty things, including sleeping with someone else's wife.
It's even possible that Uther might say, "Merlin did it too."
All I can say is... this entertainment industry is truly chaotic.
"How do you know what happened later? Weren't you already dead?" Hermione asked.
"I am dead, but Merlin reappeared a year after his disappearance and helped me paint this picture," Sir Cadogan said proudly.
I've said it before, we're friends.
Merlin isn't dead?
"No... According to Merlin, he was on the verge of death... After he appeared, he fought a great battle with Morgan."
Finally, Morgan was killed.
Sir Cadogan continued speaking eloquently:
Merlin then trapped the two dragons inside the Holy Grail, and they vanished completely from that time.
William rubbed his temples, finally understanding the situation regarding the white and red dragons in the Goblet of Fire.
This red dragon is still pretending to be weak and docile... If you're so docile, how come you can attack everywhere and get trapped by Merlin?
I don't believe you for a second.
Of course, William also knew one thing: Vivian, the Lady of the Lake, did not kill Merlin.
This deal... seems feasible!
