Stark Let Grindelwald Go?!
Umbridge was undoubtedly ostracized and targeted by representatives from various countries.
If she just sat there quietly, like a puppet, no one would deliberately make things difficult for her.
At most, there might be a couple of sarcastic remarks, expressing sympathy for Dumbledore.
Who would really make things difficult for a younger person?
He really is a junior.
Many of the wizards present had graying temples, and quite a few were Dumbledore.
Being Umbridge's godfather is too young; she'd be more like her godfather.
But Umbridge, on the other hand, brazenly declared that she would inherit Dumbledore's responsibilities and obligations... Does that mean she'll inherit the position of Grand Master of the International Confederation of Wizards?
To put it bluntly:
Are you worthy?!
The Italy representative slammed his fist on the table and said bluntly, "If my information is correct, United Kingdom is currently overwhelmed with its own problems; Voldemort has been resurrected once again."
The Italy representative's words caused many people to whisper among themselves.
In terms of international influence, Voldemort certainly doesn't compare to Grindelwald.
After all, even at his peak, this second-generation Black man never led his Death Eaters out of the British Isles and into the European continent.
But an opponent that Dumbledore couldn't handle was certainly no ordinary opponent.
"That's just Dumbledore's side of the story," Umbridge explained, still smiling.
"He's old and has dementia, that's why he says such delusional things..."
"Excuse me," United States. Representative Picquery interrupted her directly.
"And what about William Stark? He's not that old, surely he's not suffering from dementia?"
I heard the news came from Stark; he witnessed it firsthand and even fought Voldemort.
"Ha~ You actually believe what a minor wizard says? Stark is just lying to get attention..."
"An underage wizard?" the France representative exclaimed in support.
"Excuse my bluntness, but your so-called little wizard saved Paris and Venice."
He is not only a recipient of the Order of Merlin, but also of the Medal of Valor and the Italy Order of Magic.
"Given Stark's reputation and abilities, his words are more credible than yours."
After all, we've never heard of your name before.
To put it bluntly, instead of listening to your nonsense, it would be more direct to let Stark speak.
The France representative's words were echoed by many wizards.
Why were Stark and Granger invited to the International Confederation of Wizards Conference?
They just wanted to hear about the attacks in Paris and determine the level of danger posed by Arya Grindelwald.
Who do you think you are, Umbridge?
"Yes, you haven't even resolved your own country's problems, yet you still want to continue serving as president and managing the International Confederation of Wizards?" the Argentina representative added sarcastically.
"What wishful thinking!"
The France and Italy representatives were so enthusiastic in supporting William because someone had given them instructions before their arrival.
But Argentina, of course not! Do you really think he'd consider United Kingdom's interests?
How could that be? What does United Kingdom's fate have to do with Argentina... Okay, actually it does.
He wished United Kingdom would die.
The reason is simple:
Not long after Voldemort's downfall, the Death Eaters were carrying out a frenzied revenge campaign, plunging the United Kingdom Wizarding World into chaos and political instability.
The Argentina Magical Congress saw an opportunity to take advantage of the situation and decided to launch a war to occupy the Falkland Islands.
But unexpectedly, at the International Confederation of Wizards, Dumbledore sanctioned the Argentina Magical Congress, banning wizards from participating.
Thus, the Falkland Islands War resulted in a crushing defeat for Argentina.
So, he's just using this as an excuse to make a fuss? He's determined to ensure that United Kingdom doesn't have another chairman in the near future.
But Umbridge didn't realize that she only felt utterly contemptuous and offended.
She had never suffered such humiliation!
Picquery said in a deep voice, "As I said, the magical world is facing a crisis. We must immediately come up with a feasible solution to capture Grindelwald."
Stark and Granger arrived in Nurmengard immediately, and I think... we could let them participate in this meeting and speak freely."
Umbridge's eyes darted around.
That won't do!
Before coming, Fudge specifically instructed her:
We must use every means possible to prevent Stark and Granger from speaking at the International Confederation of Wizards Conference.
Especially the claims about the "resurrection of You-Know-Who".
If we let the two of them talk like this, who knows what they might say that would be detrimental to Fudge.
Umbridge suddenly had a good idea.
She said in a sweet, cloying voice:
"Does Picquery mean... that they're preparing to try United Kingdom wizards?"
"Not a trial? Just an inquiry." Picquery shook his head.
"I saw no inquiries whatsoever!" Umbridge suddenly exclaimed indignantly. "All I saw was unfounded suspicion!"
"You suspect... that Stark and Granger are the murderers who let Grindelwald go? You want to put our wizards on trial!"
Picquery was momentarily stunned.
What is this crazy woman saying?
Umbridge stood up and said:
"Whatever crimes Stark and Granger committed in Austria, legally, as a member of the United Kingdom Wizengamot, I have the right to extradite them back to the United States."
"Then, he was given a rigorous trial by the impartial United Kingdom Wizengamot."
Umbridge flashed a badge with the letter W on it.
Not long ago, Dumbledore was stripped of his Wizengamot status, while she was successfully enrolled through Fudge's efforts.
According to the Wizengamot Charter of Rights, Wizengamot has the right to extradite its own sorcerers back to the country if they commit crimes abroad.
In fact, it was William who gave Umbridge the inspiration.
That year, when Scamander was imprisoned in Paris, William proposed to extradite him back to the United States.
But Cregan refused.
Because William was merely Youth Representative of the Wizengamot, he only had the right to hear cases, not the power to extradite prisoners back to their home country.
But Umbridge is Wizengamot and has the right to extradite her.
To put it simply, this right is used to protect domestic wizards from persecution in other countries.
Umbridge, however, used the opposite argument, claiming that Picquery wanted to put the two men on trial.
Umbridge's goal was simple: to forcibly extradite William and Hermione back to the United States to prevent them from saying anything inappropriate.
Is this reasonable?
Of course it makes sense.
Is there any way to stop it?
Of course, there are.
After all, Grindelwald's case involves international affairs, International Confederation of Wizards has the right to refuse.
But isn't there no president now?
If you're going to refuse, at least you should elect a president first.
The meeting room buzzed again, as if it were a foregone conclusion that William and Hermione would be taken back to the United Kingdom.
Therefore, the two of them would not be able to mention Voldemort at the Wizarding Convention.
Picquery looked at Umbridge, suddenly stood up, and calmly said:
"I'm going to the restroom. You guys continue your conversation."
Inside the room were only William and Hermione, and Missandei, who stayed by their side constantly.
Hermione was holding a Two-Way Mirror and trying to contact Anne.
Before William left United Kingdom, he obtained several Two-Way Mirror and gave one to Anne and Hermione so they could stay in touch.
The main task was to keep an eye on Anne's progress, making sure she didn't slack off and focused on finding the Horcrux.
But now it comes in handy.
William sat at the table, examining the scraps he had collected from the cell.
He felt it was burning wood, much like a magic wand.
As for Dumbledore, William has not yet made contact with the headmaster.
He didn't know how to tell Dumbledore.
How should I put it?
Principal, Grindelwald has run away!
Principal, did your former lover run away?
Headmaster, Grin Grindelwald is looking for you!
Wait... he's not really going to find Dumbledore, is he?
If that's the case, it's probably not a pleasant surprise, but a shock.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
