William received the Order of Merlin and survived Voldemort’s attack on Gringotts with Fawkes’s blessing, then recovered and returned to Hogwarts with Hermione and Neville. He left the stretch with greater magical power, a resolve to help Neville’s parents, and Akali’s Mystery Shop underway.

• William received his Hogwarts invitation, chose his guests for the Order of Merlin ceremony, and brought his family and friends to London, where he accepted the medal and met Fleur Delacour.
• At Gringotts, Voldemort attacked with a Ukrainian Ironbelly, and William defended his companions until Fawkes’s blessing empowered him to drive Voldemort away.
• William confronted the Ministry and Gringotts over the danger, arranged for the dragon’s remains to be divided among several recipients, and collapsed from his injuries.
• After recovering at St Mungo’s, William learned his magic had grown and visited Neville’s parents, resolving to master Prehistoric Mysteries in hopes of curing them.
• William and Hermione returned to Hogwarts by train, where William protected Neville from Slytherin students and helped recover Trevor after Draco stole the toad.
• William, Fred, George, Cedric, Cho, Hermione, and Neville organized Akali’s Mystery Shop’s products and promotion during the journey to Hogwarts.
• William and Hermione promoted the shop on the train, where William took orders for Amortentia and explained to Hermione that it caused artificial infatuation rather than love.

William began his first year at Hogwarts, built friendships and expanded his magical business while exploring the school’s defenses with his friends. The group reached Dumbledore’s office, and William joined Ravenclaw’s Quidditch tryouts as the school year continued.

• William arrived at Hogwarts, rode a Thestral across the Black Lake, and joined the feast, where Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Neville were sorted into Gryffindor.
• William began studying Animagus magic with Professor McGonagall and sold the Hogwarts Magical Map with Fred and George, while Professor Quirrell’s poor teaching disappointed his class.
• William and his friends followed Hagrid’s clue to the forbidden Third Floor Corridor, fed Fluffy, and passed the Devil’s Snare, flying keys, and Wizard’s Chess challenges.
• Hermione solved Snape’s potion puzzle, and the group crossed the Fiendfyre to find Dumbledore in his office, where he deducted points for their rule-breaking but rewarded them for completing the challenges.
• Dumbledore and Snape discussed William’s power, Voldemort’s possible return, and Harry, while Snape warned that William might become a Dark Lord.
• Cho caught the Snitch at Ravenclaw tryouts, and William made one hundred shots during his Chaser trial as five Nimbus 2000s arrived for the students.
• Malfoy taunted Harry during Flying Class, Professor McGonagall made him return Neville’s Remembrall, and William helped Professor Sprout investigate possible Knarl damage in the greenhouses.

William’s pursuit of Quirrell’s secret leads to a series of pranks, a disastrous encounter with the Merpeople, and a journey to Nicolas’s birthday gathering. The arc ends with Nicolas beginning to tell William his own story about Death and the Three Brothers.

• William helped kill the Troll that attacked Hermione, then suspected Quirrell after learning he had been near the forbidden corridor.
• Harry caught the Snitch to win Gryffindor’s match against Slytherin, and William and his friends began offering a bounty for the secret beneath Quirrell’s turban.
• William and his friends attacked Quirrell with pranks until Christmas, while Quirrell continued hiding his face beneath armor and a turban.
• William and Cedric cut a Merperson’s hair, provoking the Merpeople chieftain, and William escaped with his friends on a broom as the chieftain flooded the Slytherin Common Room.
• William and Hermione’s golden toad carried them through the Black Lake and crashed on the Devon coast, where Newt rescued them on Frank and explained why the Merpeople had attacked.
• Mercury told William and Hermione a different version of the Three Brothers’ tale, in which Death gave the brothers gifts tied to potions, wisdom, and control over time.
• William and Hermione reached Nicolas’s estate, where Newt confronted Rita Skeeter’s accusations about Seraphina Picquery and her child.
• Nicolas showed William around the estate, then took him inside and began telling him a story about Death and the Three Brothers.

William learned Nicolas Flamel’s search for the Deathly Hallows, then helped the centaurs fight Voldemort and became entangled in the aftermath of Quirrell’s death. During Ravenclaw’s Quidditch match, a Basilisk attacked Hogwarts, and Dumbledore urged William to use Ravenclaw's Ring to save the dead students, including Harry.

• Nicolas told William how he found the Book of Abraham and traced Salazar Slytherin’s wand through Isolt Sayre, while explaining his search for the Deathly Hallows and his fear of death.
• William spent Christmas with Hermione, gave her a portrait badge, and joined Fred, George, and Cedric to gather Hallucinogenic Mushrooms in the Forbidden Forest.
• William and his friends found Voldemort drinking unicorn blood and fighting the centaurs, and William used a water dragon to battle Voldemort until Dumbledore arrived and drove him away.
• Quirrell tried to reach the Philosopher’s Stone through the enchanted rooms, but Snape’s potion killed him, and Voldemort abandoned his body and turned him into a ghost.
• William confronted Snape over the mushrooms and his accusations, while Dumbledore and Snape discussed Voldemort’s possession of Quirrell and the Ministry investigated William and the events at Hogwarts.
• Hagrid told William that a hooded stranger had given him a Norwegian Ridgeback egg, and Newt agreed to care for it while William prepared for Ravenclaw’s final Quidditch match against Slytherin.
• A giant Basilisk erupted from the Quidditch pitch and attacked the Gryffindor stands, where William struck it with a Conjunctivitis Curse before Dumbledore killed it with the Sword of Gryffindor.
• Dumbledore told William that forty-five students had died, Harry had swallowed the Philosopher’s Stone and died, and Voldemort had unleashed the Basilisk as a distraction, then urged William to use Ravenclaw's Ring to save them.
