Forming a Team? Chen Ze's Tournament Idea
The two hid behind a tree, peeking out with their sniper rifles trained ahead.
When someone showed their head from behind the rock, a Kar98k shot rang out.
The shot hit the person trying to peek from behind the rock.
The person went down, and the other side didn't rush to force an attack. Instead, they laid smoke to the side and went for the revive.
Just then, Xiao Dingdang suddenly heard a car behind him.
That was... the team from the school!
Realizing who was coming, Xiao Dingdang had a bad feeling.
They could still fight one team, but with two teams closing in on them, there was no way they could win.
"Go!"
"Get in the car and fall back first."
Xiao Dingdang decisively ordered Mai Senpai to retreat.
Mai Senpai didn't hesitate either, quickly pulling out smoke grenades and throwing them toward the car.
As the smoke spread, the two slung their guns over their backs and sprinted toward the car.
As he ran, Xiao Dingdang pulled out flashbangs and grenades and threw them to either side, keeping the players on both flanks from rushing them.
But just then, the team coming from the school seemed to realize what Xiao Dingdang and Mai Senpai were doing. They drove straight into the smoke after them.
Hearing the roar of the approaching car, Xiao Dingdang bit down hard on his lip.
These guys really won't let up. They're not even going to let this go?
All I did was shoot at you a few times. Just take it and move on. Why are you so worked up?
With that thought, Xiao Dingdang jumped forward, hoping to avoid being run over. But the result disappointed him: he failed to dodge the car and was knocked straight to the ground.
Although Mai Senpai got into the car, the vehicle rushing at him blocked him in at point-blank range. All four opponents got out and gunned him down together.
Both of them went down and turned into loot boxes, drawing a long sigh from Xiao Dingdang.
He had to admit, fighting with just two people really was hard.
After returning to the lobby, Xiao Dingdang sighed and said, "Xiao Ma, do you think we should find two more skilled players?"
"With just the two of us fighting four-player squads, it feels like we're struggling."
It wasn't that he lacked confidence in his aim or skills. There were simply too few of them, and sometimes there was nothing they could do.
Just like the last round: eight people had closed in on the two of them. No matter how good his aim was, he couldn't spin around and fight them all, could he? Did they really think he was a god?
Hearing Xiao Dingdang, Mai Senpai thought for a moment and said, "I think we should, Brother Zuo. I feel the same way."
"Everyone's aim is pretty good now. The main problem is that the two of us have too little margin for error."
"With two more people, we'd have a much bigger margin for error."
Xiao Dingdang nodded, feeling much better. It seemed Mai Senpai felt the same way.
Comments streamed through the livestream chat, strongly agreeing with Xiao Dingdang's idea.
[Yeah, God Zuo, of course it's hard with just the two of you. How about I carry... let me join you guys?]
[Take me, God Zuo. I'm super obedient. I'll do whatever you tell me.]
[Count me in. I'm gold rank-that's pretty good, right?]
[Give it a rest. You'd just be a free kill. You might as well let me do it.]
[So you're putting a team together? If you really make a squad of top players, who could possibly stop God Zuo?]
After reading the chat, Xiao Dingdang suddenly thought of something and said, "By the way, do you think Starfield will hold a PUBG tournament?"
"Didn't Minecraft have the Starfield Building Cup before? It'd be interesting if they did one for this too."
If he really put a team together, how satisfying would it be to play in a tournament if one came along?
He couldn't imagine it. He just hoped Starfield had the same idea. If not, he could always suggest it himself.
Over the mic, Mai Senpai paused at Xiao Dingdang's words, then laughed. "No way, God Zuo. The game just came out. Even if there's a tournament, it can't possibly be this year."
"Even if there really is a tournament, you'd definitely need a team of people who know each other to compete. Bringing in two randoms wouldn't work."
After hearing that, Xiao Dingdang wanted regular teammates more than ever.
If possible, he really wanted to find three regular teammates to play with.
Then they could enjoy racking up kills, have a lower margin for error, and communicate more too.
As far as he was concerned, Mai Senpai was already a skilled player. With two more at roughly the same level, he couldn't say they'd be the strongest team, but they certainly wouldn't be bad.
What they didn't know was that Su Ye had already thought of this.
And it wasn't just Su Ye. As a game designer and developer, Luan Le'an had the same idea, but Su Ye had shelved all of it.
The time wasn't right yet. Su Ye wanted to wait until the game had gradually spread across the domestic market before actually launching a tournament.
Players' ranks hadn't settled yet, and no one knew who the top players were. If they held a tournament now, there would probably be plenty of people just filling slots.
He didn't want to see that, nor was he willing to. What he wanted to see was the country's top players, even the very best players in the world, competing onstage.
Rigorous tactical planning, pinpoint accuracy with total focus, the extreme plays players pulled off during matches, and so on.
Those were what made a tournament compelling. Without them, he would rather not hold one at all than let a tournament ruin the game.
Meanwhile, in Chen Ze's livestream.
After playing PUBG for the past few days, Chen Ze had discovered that the game really wasn't for him.
His aim was bad, and he simply couldn't get used to this kind of shooter.
So he went straight back to Minecraft.
Watching the number of viewers in his livestream fall, his heart sank helplessly.
As Starfield's new release, PUBG was unsurprisingly popular beyond belief.
Second was Minecraft, Starfield's debut game. Even so, compared with PUBG, which had only recently come out, Minecraft wasn't quite as popular.
It looked like he needed to do something different, or PUBG streamers would draw away his traffic and popularity.
With that thought, Chen Ze ended his stream for the day and leaned back in his chair.
When had his traffic been at its best? When he played PUBG? Or Minecraft?
No, that didn't seem right either.
His livestream had topped a million viewers that time.
[Starfield Building Cup]
That was right. The last time he, Dan King, Xiao Dingdang, and the others had commentated on the Starfield Building Cup, his traffic had been higher than ever.
If that was the case, then... what if he held a Minecraft tournament himself?
As he thought about it, his ideas grew clearer and clearer.
Right, why don't I just hold a Minecraft tournament myself? There are plenty of streamers like me who can't get used to PUBG.
If I hold a tournament and bring together the streamers who are still streaming Minecraft, it'll definitely work out well.
I can invite Muyu, Zimin, Jianan, and all the others. A tournament with them would definitely be worth watching.
At that thought, Chen Ze excitedly pulled out paper and a pen and began writing a proposal.
P.S.: We've reached a hundred thousand Chinese characters. I wonder if the first round of promotion will come through, hehe.
I'm planning to include all the well-known Minecraft streamers later. Do you have any favorites? You can leave a comment here, and I'll see it.
