Ch. 21Disguised as an Elder

Wentesi disguised himself as a Buddhist elder after Wuchen mistook his Golden Land for the sign of an eminent monk reincarnated. Wuchen offered to accompany him to the Buddhist Shrine Secret Realm, while a gathering of Buddhas learned of Wentesi’s journey and decided not to guide him back to the Pure Land.

  • Wentesi realized Wuchen had mistaken his Golden Land for a Buddhist elder’s and pretended to be a silent, reincarnated monk.
  • Wuchen introduced himself as a disciple of Dharma Master Daliang and invited Wentesi to the Buddhist Shrine Secret Realm in Bashu.
  • Wuchen offered to refine the mortals and two Evil Cultivators for Wentesi, but Wentesi refused the mortals’ Blood Qi and ordered the Evil Cultivators killed.
  • Wuchen killed the two Evil Cultivators and asked to accompany Wentesi, who remained silent.
  • In the Northern Region Buddha Kingdom, the Buddhas discussed Wentesi’s awakening and journey toward the secret realm, then agreed to leave him to his own plans.

Ch. 22Seeking to Become Wentesi's Disciple

Wentesi tested Wuchen’s deference and learned about the Buddhist Shrine Secret Realm, which opened every thirty years in the Chuan Region. Wuchen mistook Wentesi for a reincarnated Buddhist elder and begged to become his disciple, but Wentesi asked what he would gain by accepting him.

  • Wentesi claimed he no longer wanted to visit the Buddhist Shrine Secret Realm, and Wuchen dropped to his knees in alarm.
  • Wuchen explained that the secret realm opened every thirty years and that he had come on Dharma Master Daliang’s orders.
  • Wuchen guessed that Wentesi was a Buddhist elder who had reincarnated to cultivate anew, and Wentesi chose to let him believe it.
  • Wuchen asked to serve Wentesi and become his disciple, then described how Dharma Master Daliang controlled and exploited him.
  • Wentesi asked Wuchen what he would gain by taking him as a disciple.

Ch. 23Wentesi Only Accepts Those with Fate

Wentesi demanded Wuchen’s treasures as the price of building fate between them, then left without accepting him as a disciple. Wuchen was left with only preliminary fate and ordinary clothes.

  • Wentesi said he would not accept Wuchen as a disciple unless they had fate, then hinted that Wuchen could offer him the Brahma Sound Six Consciousnesses Many Ears Penetration.
  • Wuchen gave Wentesi the scripture and his gold storage bracelet, then surrendered the Soul-Stabilizing Bell after Wentesi threatened to end their chance at fate.
  • Wentesi also took Wuchen’s monk’s robe, and Wuchen changed into coarse clothes he found on a corpse.
  • Wentesi declared that they had only forged preliminary fate, leaving Wuchen bitterly disappointed that he had handed over his possessions without becoming a disciple.
  • Wentesi flew away, leaving Wuchen alone on the plain as vultures circled nearby.

Ch. 24A Chance Encounter with Crow Lord

Wentesi stayed in the Chuan Region to investigate why he had crossed into the cultivation world and search for treasures, but he encountered the injured Crow Lord, who was being hunted. Crow Lord tried to flee after revealing his pursuers were close, and Wentesi blocked his path.

  • Wentesi flew through the mountains, accidentally smashing a flock of Iron Skylarks, and reflected on the treasures he had taken from Wuchen.
  • Wentesi decided to remain in the cultivation world rather than return home, hoping to learn about its secrets and find treasures.
  • Wentesi felt hungry and spotted a wild boar, but sensed an approaching demon before he could dive after it.
  • Wentesi recognized the badly injured Crow Lord, who initially failed to recognize Wentesi in his larger dragon form.
  • Crow Lord revealed that a golden eagle and a firebird were hunting him and tried to escape, but Wentesi spread his wings and blocked his path.

Ch. 25Unafraid of [Wings Fire]

Wentesi confronted the Crow Lord’s pursuers and defeated the three demons with overwhelming force. He left the Crow Lord stunned after proving immune to [Wings Fire].

  • The Crow Lord told Wentesi that a first-layer Qi Ingestion firebird of the [Wings Fire] lineage and a sixth-layer Embryonic Breathing golden eagle of the [Wind Qi] lineage were pursuing him.
  • A Hook Snake of the [Winnowing Basket Water] lineage appeared with the golden eagle and firebird, and the Crow Lord warned Wentesi about its venomous tail.
  • Wentesi charged the three demons, broke the golden eagle’s wing, and sent it crashing into a mountainside.
  • Wentesi ignored the firebird’s flaming feathers, swallowed it, and then blasted the fleeing Hook Snake in half with dragon breath.
  • The Crow Lord stared in shock and asked Wentesi whether he was not afraid of [Wings Fire].

Ch. 26Greater Yin Plots Against Greater Yang

After learning that Greater Yin cultivators destroyed Eight Seals Mountain and the Southern Xiang Mountain Range three days after Wentesi left, Wentesi suspected they had been hunting him for mastering the Hairy Head Sun Method. He decided against fleeing the cultivation world and considered using a Field of Merit to gather information and test Greater Yin instead.

  • Wentesi confirmed the Hook Snake was dead, found the golden eagle barely alive, and decided to keep it as a meal.
  • Crow Lord praised Wentesi's strength and explained that a Wind Travel Pearl had helped him reach the Embryonic Breathing Fourth Layer before the golden eagle and firebird chased him west.
  • Crow Lord told Wentesi that Greater Yin cultivators had destroyed Eight Seals Mountain and the Southern Xiang Mountain Range seven months earlier, three days after Wentesi had left.
  • Wentesi realized the Greater Yin cultivators might have been searching for him because he had mastered the Hairy Head Sun Method, and he feared they would kill him if they found him.
  • Wentesi calmed himself by reasoning that Greater Yin could not locate him immediately, then decided he could use a Field of Merit to gather resources and test Greater Yin's response.

Ch. 27Not in the Mortal World

Wentesi converted the dying golden eagle into a merit field and saved it with part of the Jade Life Leaf before sending it with Crow Lord to a marketplace in the Chuan Region. Meanwhile, a True Person and his son discussed their failed search for [Hairy Head Sun] and decided to continue at their leisure.

  • Crow Lord refused Wentesi’s offer to become his merit field, insisting that he would rather die than lose his freedom.
  • Wentesi converted the nearly dead golden eagle into a merit field and fed it part of the Jade Life Leaf to heal its worst injuries.
  • Wentesi asked Crow Lord to take the golden eagle to a large marketplace in the Chuan Region, and Crow Lord promised to repay him for saving his life.
  • Wentesi flew away to find a safe place to return to his territory, while Crow Lord set off west with the golden eagle.
  • At Dongting Lake, a plain-robed True Person told his son Jun'er that their divination had failed to locate [Hairy Head Sun] and could not be repeated for thirty-six years.
  • The True Person proposed enjoying the mortal world while continuing their search, and speculated that [Hairy Head Sun] might have escaped into the Sun Grotto-Heaven.

Ch. 28Farming the Golden Land

After seven months in the cultivation world, Wentesi returned to Emerald Valley, where he found that his Golden Land had spread across most of the territory and supported thriving Spirit Plants. Kru reported that ordinary soil could not sustain the plants, but the Golden Land could, leaving Wentesi surprised by its potential for farming.

  • Wentesi broke out of his cramped cave, rose through the lake, and absorbed Greater Yang Qi from the sun before flying toward Emerald Valley.
  • Wentesi found that most of Emerald Valley had become Golden Land and that a field of bluish-gold Spirit Plants was flourishing there.
  • Walker and Kru recognized Wentesi when he landed, welcomed him back, and settled the Devil Creatures who had prepared for a possible fight.
  • Kru reported population growth and the sale of stored three-flower honey, then explained that the spirit seeds failed in ordinary soil but thrived in the Golden Land.
  • Wentesi realized that his Golden Land could support farming and was surprised by the discovery.

Ch. 29Die, Ally!

After waking from a seven-month slumber, Wentesi discovered that crops grown in the Golden Land had matured rapidly and were rich in Greater Yang Qi. He went to meet the Great Tree Sage, but was attacked by Luola and, despite being told Luola was an ally, fired his strongest dragon breath at them.

  • Kru showed Wentesi the Golden Land’s spirit crops, and Wentesi ate White Jade Grain and other plants that had mutated and matured unusually quickly.
  • Kru reported that twenty bearfolk and thirty minotaurs had sought refuge in the territory after the wilderness divine envoy drove them out.
  • Kru told Wentesi that the Great Tree Sage wanted to speak with him, so Wentesi ate from the expanded food warehouse and flew to the Great Tree Sage.
  • An unseen attacker ambushed Wentesi with blue-flamed strikes, knocking him into the ground before he could locate them.
  • An old man called the attacker Luola and told them Wentesi was an ally, but Wentesi unleashed his strongest dragon breath at Luola anyway.

Ch. 30The Short-Haired, Wheat-Skinned Girl

Wentesi blasted Aila with his dragon breath, overwhelming her with Hairy Head Sun Law Power. After Kan'erde failed to stop the power and revealed himself as a Sanctuary expert, he apologized to Wentesi for his disciple’s attack, and Wentesi began planning to extort him.

  • Wentesi saw that his opponent was Aila, a level-twelve warrior, and she charged at his dragon breath with a kick.
  • The dragon breath exploded against Aila’s foot, sending her flying as Hairy Head Sun Law Power pierced her Battle Qi and caused her unbearable pain.
  • Kan'erde caught Aila and tried to remove the invading power with white light, but it failed and the power resisted even his domain.
  • Wentesi tried to flee, but Kan'erde’s domain trapped him; Wentesi recognized that Kan'erde was a Sanctuary expert and stayed alert.
  • Kan'erde withdrew his domain, identified himself as an ascetic of the Church of Light, and apologized to Wentesi for Aila’s attack.
  • Wentesi noticed Kan'erde’s sincerity and decided to extort the Sanctuary expert.

Ch. 31Profiting and Sharing the Spoils

Wentesi used Aila’s pain to bargain with Aierde for compensation, then removed most of the Hairy Head Sun Law Power from her body. The Great Tree Sage appeared and said he had invited Wentesi to share the spoils from the Abyssal Rift.

  • Wentesi refused to help Aila until Aierde offered compensation, while keeping the Hairy Head Sun Law Power from endangering her life.
  • Aierde explained that the Great Tree Sage was gathering Wilderness experts and said the Abyssal Rift would arrive in two and a half normal years.
  • Aierde offered to act on Wentesi’s behalf once, and Wentesi bargained him up to three times.
  • Wentesi sucked most of the Hairy Head Sun Law Power out of Aila, stopping her screams and easing her condition.
  • The Great Tree Sage appeared in the central tree and told Wentesi he had called him to share the spoils from the Abyssal Rift.

Ch. 32Selling Demon Remains to the Immortal Cultivation World

Wentesi learned that the three churches planned to manage the Abyssal Rift as a controlled source of demons, then negotiated for a share of the demons to fight. After accepting one-tenth of the allocation, he asked to keep the demon remains for possible use in the immortal cultivation world.

  • The Great Tree Sage explained that the churches planned to open the Abyssal Rift gradually, using demon incursions to drain its energy while rewarding those who killed the invaders.
  • Wentesi asked why he had only one-tenth of the demon allocation, but Aila and the Great Tree Sage explained that the three churches were contributing the work and resources.
  • Wentesi laughed off his demand and accepted his share after learning the churches had already settled the allocation.
  • Wentesi asked the Great Tree Sage and Aierde if he could have the demon remains, which they regarded as useless and contaminated waste.

Ch. 33Cultivating Techniques

After barely defeating Aila, Wentesi resolved to cultivate harder and used the Golden Land to contact his Field of Merit golden eagle. He found the eagle and the Crow Lord trapped by a human cultivator, and tried to take control of the eagle.

  • The Great Tree Sage and Aierde agreed that Wentesi could dispose of the small Abyssal Rift's demon corpses, and the Great Tree Sage told him the rift would open in three months.
  • Wentesi left after sensing Aierde wanted to tell him something, while the Great Tree Sage hoped to recruit him for the Goddess of the Wild.
  • Wentesi recalled how Aila had nearly beaten him and decided to cultivate the Hairy Head Sun Method, the Great Sun Earth Buddha Sutra, and other techniques to strengthen himself.
  • Wentesi used the Golden Land to sense his Field of Merit golden eagle in the cultivation world.
  • Wentesi saw that a long-bearded cultivator had trapped the golden eagle and the Crow Lord in a formation and net, intending to sell them to the Maple Household.
  • Wentesi sent his consciousness through the Golden Land and tried to take control of the Field of Merit golden eagle.

Ch. 34The Merits of Dao Lineages, the Mystic Phenomena of Heaven and Earth

Wentesi took control of a golden eagle and rescued the Crow Lord from a cultivator who planned to sell them. As the old man pursued them, Wentesi prepared to use his true red dragon body for a single counterattack before fleeing.

  • The Crow Lord tried to bluff the old man with claims of a powerful Heavenly Feather Crow Tribe, but the cultivator saw through the lie.
  • The old man explained that the current [Floating Light Leaping Gold] Mystic Phenomenon favored Metal Virtue and dismissed the [Wind Qi] lineage as weak and useless.
  • Wentesi examined the golden eagle's sparse spiritual power and learned that its [Wind Qi] abilities focused almost entirely on travel and escape.
  • The old man began drawing the captives toward him, so Wentesi used [Hairy Head Sun] Law Power to break the golden threads and burn a hole through the net trapping the Crow Lord.
  • Wentesi grabbed the Crow Lord and fled west, but the old man pursued without attacking, apparently waiting for Wentesi to tire.
  • Wentesi decided to use his true red dragon body for one strike to disrupt the pursuer and escape.

Ch. 35Alive

Wentesi rescued the Crow Lord and a golden eagle from an old human cultivator, then left to consider how he might learn to foresee danger. In Emerald Valley, newly arrived minotaurs worked to expand the fields as a young minotaur hoped life under the red dragon lord would be safer.

  • Wentesi controlled the golden eagle to evade the old man's golden threads while carrying the Crow Lord away.
  • When Wentesi's consciousness returned to his dragon body, the old man pursued the exhausted eagle until Wentesi attacked him with pillars of fire, allowing the captives to escape.
  • The Crow Lord thanked Wentesi, who warned him to be more careful and told him to contact Wentesi if trouble arose at the market.
  • Wentesi flew home and considered divination methods that might warn him of danger before deciding to eat.
  • In Emerald Valley, Kru ordered the minotaurs to clear more farmland as the territory's population grew.
  • A young minotaur hoped that Steward Kru's promised share of the harvest would mean enough food, while his father remained doubtful; the son took comfort in the red dragon lord's arrival.

Ch. 36Fields of Merit That Cultivate Too Slowly Must Be Eliminated!

Wentesi grew frustrated with Walker’s slow cultivation and ordered him to try a different technique, then studied a hearing technique that sharpened his senses. The chapter ended with Kru reporting that a powerful old human ally had arrived to visit.

  • Wentesi judged Walker’s progress too slow and instructed him to stop cultivating the Hairy Head Sun Method and practice the Formless Muscle-Changing Sutra instead.
  • Wentesi considered finding more talented Fields of Merit and estimated that he would reach the Fifth Level of Embryonic Breathing in about two weeks.
  • Wentesi studied the Brahma Sound Six Consciousnesses Many Ears Penetration Technique and mastered its first part, which let him hear sounds for several miles and focus on specific noises.
  • Kru told Wentesi that a powerful old human claiming to be his ally had arrived outside the dragon’s nest.

Ch. 37A Misunderstanding in Wentesi's Favor

Wentesi caught Aierde eating crops from his field and confronted him, but learned that Aierde mistook the Hairy Head Sun Law Power in him for the power of the God of Light. Wentesi chose to let the misunderstanding stand for now, hoping his supposed status as a believer might bring benefits.

  • Wentesi heard Aierde in his planting area and found him eating White Jade Grain and Mountain Ginseng while the guards watched.
  • Wentesi accused Aierde of stealing his crops, and Aierde apologized while explaining that the plants' light energy had confirmed his suspicion about Wentesi.
  • Aierde recalled sensing the Power of the Rule of Light in Wentesi and concluded that the red dragon was a chosen believer of the God of Light.
  • Aierde addressed Wentesi as a fellow believer, and Wentesi realized he had mistaken Hairy Head Sun Law Power for divine light power.
  • Wentesi decided to play along without confirming or denying the belief, and Aierde took his silence as acceptance.

Ch. 38I Admire the God of Light

Aierde believed the God of Light had chosen Wentesi for a secret purpose and kept quiet about the red dragon's divine favor. When Wentesi learned that the Church of Light traded goods for contribution points and saw its offerings, he became eager to acquire them.

  • Aierde admired Wentesi and decided not to report his divine favor to the Church of Light, fearing spies would expose the God of Light's plans.
  • Aierde praised Wentesi's Hairy Head Sun crops and explained that the Church of Light valued them as treasures.
  • Wentesi asked whether he could sell the crops for gold, and Aierde explained that the church used contribution points instead.
  • Aierde showed Wentesi his clergy badge and the church's shopping interface, including Light holy water and Magic Guardians.
  • Wentesi grew excited over the listed goods and nearly drooled on Aierde, who told him to calm down.

Ch. 39A Definite Goal

Wentesi tried to gain access to the Church of Light’s exchange goods by seeking friendly-force certification, then chose class books and seeds over gold. After Aierde left, Wentesi received news that Field of Merit and Crow Lord had reached the market and set a goal to advance his cultivation within a year.

  • Wentesi admired the Church of Light’s exchange goods and persuaded Aierde to submit his territory for friendly-force certification.
  • Wentesi asked whether his crops could be exchanged for contribution points and learned that physical goods required delivery by the church’s griffin transport team.
  • Wentesi selected the Battle Dragon and Elemental Breath Dragon class advancement books, along with various magic plant seeds, instead of gold coins.
  • Aierde promised to send clergy to discuss the exchange and then left to attend to the abyssal rift.
  • Wentesi sensed Field of Merit’s report that Field of Merit and Crow Lord had reached the market, then planned his activities across both worlds and aimed to reach the Qi Ingestion Realm within a year.

Ch. 40Green Snake Market

Wentesi possessed the Field of Merit golden eagle while flying with Crow Lord to Green Snake Market, where Crow Lord planned to seek protection from a local demon. Wentesi persuaded Crow Lord to follow him instead, and they landed outside the market after hearing it was founded by a green snake demon and a cultivator surnamed Xu.

  • Wentesi possessed the Field of Merit golden eagle and observed Green Snake Market as he and Crow Lord flew toward it.
  • Crow Lord explained that he planned to visit his friend Yan Shijiu and pay respects to Great King Bearded Vulture, a Middle Stage of Qi Ingestion demon.
  • Crow Lord described the grades of Spiritual Qi and said Great King Bearded Vulture cultivated second-grade [Earth Virtue] Spiritual Qi.
  • Wentesi refused to pay respects to Great King Bearded Vulture and invited Crow Lord to follow him, and Crow Lord agreed.
  • Crow Lord told Wentesi that Green Snake Market was founded by a Foundation Establishment Realm green snake demon and her human dao companion, whose surname was Xu.
  • Crow Lord and Wentesi landed outside Green Snake Market.
