Su Yao left Qixia Mountain to pursue a third talisman, but the Daozheng’s restrictions and a journey through Zhongnan brought him face to face with Xicheng and a hidden affliction. After Xicheng sent him to the foot of Zhongnan, Su Yao obtained a spirit object and became caught in a secret realm dispute that ended with Changlu ordered to complete a task in Nanzhao.
Su Yao reached Nanzhao, learned he could not return to Mount Zhongnan, and destroyed the Lu Household after its attack on Liu Yunhe and Li Siyi. With Gui Hong driving back the tribe’s pursuers, Su Yao began establishing Qixia Temple’s branch residence at Golden Ao Mountain.
Su Yao faced Mianning’s judgment, defeated Ji Jie, and learned the truth about his birth parents before returning to Golden Ao Mountain. With the mountain’s defenses raised, he refined a new talisman, hatched Xiao Huang, and began preparing to receive guests.
Su Yao established Pear Garden on Golden Ao Mountain, recruited disciples, and defeated Shen Yuxiao in a sword contest. As Gui Hong revealed the growing upheaval across Nanzhao and the Three Powers, Su Yao began organizing his students and preparing them for their cultivation paths.
Su Yao and his companions carried the immortal casket to Longchuan, where a miners’ uprising brought Proclaiming Earth’s reincarnation into the world. Back on Golden Ao Mountain, they faced a Greater Yin manifestation and the political fallout of Renzong’s death, while Su Yao suspected the succession crisis was tied to the Five Qi Essence-Suppressing Curtain.
Su Yao broke through to the Purple Mansion, became Qixia Temple’s acting master, and received competing heavenly decrees as Nanzhao’s crises gathered. The ruler prepared for the Purple-Blue Secret Realm expedition while ordering action against Kuiwu and Ao Xiao and seeking to preserve Nanzhao.
Su Yao held a Dharma banquet that established Qixia Temple’s influence, then confronted and killed the officials and True Persons who moved against it. As Mo Chen’s attempt to attain the Geng Wood Fruition Position ended in catastrophe, new conflicts over Nanzhao’s fate began to surface.
Su Yao resisted Cang Lan’s attempt to turn him from the Immortal Dao, defeated Ao Xiao and Kuiwu, and recovered in seclusion as Nanzhao’s turmoil deepened. Yang Xiu attained the Purple Mansion and joined Su Yao just as signs of the Proclaiming Earth True Lord’s return appeared.
Su Yao and Yang Xiu fought Chen Hai at Longchuan before returning to cultivation under new obligations. Thirteen years later, Zilin reached the Purple Mansion and reunited with Su Yao, while Yang Xiu stayed away from his friends out of guilt over cultivating True Martial Mountain's methods.
Su Yao and his allies repelled demons, opened the Purple-Blue Secret Realm, and secured its treasures before Nuoli made the realm his own. After reconciling with Yang Xiu and drawing closer to Zilin, Su Yao examined the Great Qing edicts and warned that the court might move against the immortal sects after the Crown Prince’s ascension.
After Zhu Ji took the throne and the Qixia cultivators defeated Chen Hai’s Proclaiming Earth undertaking, Su Yao returned to Qixia Mountain and became entangled in the heavenly breach and Mount Lao’s plans. He revealed his fifth Divine Ability, killed Zhao Shouyi, and headed toward the Demonic Qi to prepare to seek gold and clear the miasma.
