Background and History
Rise as a Wind-Dao Clan
The Ye Clan’s sacred land stands at the summit of the Cloud Mist Mountain Range. Its hereditary possession of the wind heavenly position makes it the foremost authority on wind cultivation: profound wind methods and Divine Abilities are traced to its lineage, and wind cultivators are expected to acknowledge its supremacy 4 5.
A clan legend attributes the Azure Nether Heaven-Suppressing Seal to an exceptionally talented founding-era True Lord who built the clan’s foundation through ruthless campaigns against rival households. Its later strength rests on generations of cultivation inheritances, refined Divine Abilities, and accumulated combat experience 83.
Suppression and the Ten-Year Retreat
Ye Zhanqiu’s pursuit of the autumn Dao provoked coordinated opposition from the Sima, Chen, and Xie clans. Their True Lords concealed Lesser Yin, maintained spring across Huainan and the Central Plains, and suppressed Jiangnan to obstruct his breakthrough. The Ye Clan sealed Yunlan and withdrew from public affairs while its subordinate realms fractured and outside powers exploited the crisis 21.
During Zhanqiu’s disappearance, Ye Qingming placed Ye Zhanshan in charge. Ye Jinyu and Xiao Qingyao took refuge with the Xiao Clan, where Jinyu lived as a hostage. Xu Feng initially described Zhanshan’s administration as corrupt and exploitative: revenues declined, four Purple Mansion guardians died in uprisings, and retaliatory purges killed even previously loyal realm cultivators 1 5.
Zhanshan later explained that his apparent passivity concealed an effort to preserve the clan under overwhelming external pressure. His brothers served the court, fought in the Southern Frontier, and campaigned across the Ruin Realms, while the ancestor risked serious injury to secure help from the Xiao Clan’s True Lord and incurred a debt to the Wang Clan 21.
Zhanqiu’s Return and Jinyu’s Succession
Zhanqiu returned as a Golden Core True Lord and declared that Ye Jinyu would become young master. The court’s congratulatory investiture concealed an attempt to bind his autumn lineage to bloody sacrifice and deepen hostility between the Ye Clan and the Ruin Realms. Zhanqiu countered by announcing that the Late Autumn Blood Sun Scripture, including its means of dispelling resentment and delivering departed souls, would be spread throughout the realms 5 7.
The succession dispute ended when Ye Zhanshan urged his sons to support Jinyu. He revealed that the ancestor’s wind-providence divination had identified Jinyu as someone of great destiny who could lead the clan to its peak. Ye Jinming and Ye Jinxuan publicly submitted, and Jinyu formally assumed authority over secular affairs at the year-end gathering 21 22 23 24.
Wind Abyss Campaign
Ye Qingming regarded Wind Abyss’s rich wind origin as a means to strengthen the clan’s heavenly position. Because Golden Core cultivators could not personally conduct the realm campaign, Ye Jinyu was selected to represent the clan 8.
Jinyu established a southern stronghold at South-Pacifying City, recruited independent cultivators, and attacked the Azure Luan ancestral land. Qing Lingxi killed her rival Qing Lingyue, took control of the Azure Luan Clan, and pledged its allegiance to him. Its surviving forces became Azure Plume, and seventy percent of the Southern Domain’s Demon Race subsequently submitted 33 38 40 45.
The clan also brought Great Yin under its protection and direction. An attack attributed to Sima Ruiming broke Emperor Yin Huan’s resistance before Ye Jinxuan intervened as rescuer; Zhang Xuan explicitly recognized this as a Ye Clan scheme to secure both submission and a favorable reputation. Yin Huan accepted Ye authority and received orders to muster for war 54 55.
Contest for Jiangnan
After Wind Abyss, the clan maintained outward loyalty to Great Jin while seeking advantage from Sima infighting. Ye Jinyu later entrusted Jia Ru with its secret network, enabling coordinated intelligence gathering, covert disruption, and the exposure of three assassination plots connected to Azure Waves Heaven 68 77.
The clan restored the expelled alchemist Ye Chen to its genealogy and protected his disciple Qi Ming. It subsequently destroyed the Gu and Lu clans, both supporters of Azure Waves Heaven. Ye Qingming justified their destruction to Sima Honglin as punishment for collusion with witch and demonic forces; Honglin accepted the explanation but warned that Jiangnan must remain part of Great Jin 80 81 83 85.
When imperial authority fractured, Ye Qingming authorized the seizure of Jiangnan. Jinyu moved from securing territory to governing it, outlawing Dao Devouring and Dao Ginseng cultivation. The Zhu Clan’s direct line was executed after it concealed prohibited resources 93 94.

Governance and Reforms
Ruin Realm Administration
- Earlier system: Guardians remitted fixed tribute quotas, while incomplete accounts allowed hidden production, private trade, and collusion with local powers 23.
- Superior-realm autonomy: Stronger realm origins restrict True Lords more heavily, encouraging indirect rule through local alliances rather than the outright extraction practiced in lesser realms 24.
- Transport Commissioner system: Centralizes resource allocation and audits realm production, reducing guardians’ control over concealed revenues 23 24 94.
- Native recruitment: Realm cultivators can enter Transport Offices and receive cultivation methods, materials, and recognized standing 94.
- Advancement into the clan: Talented natives who pass assessment may ascend to Cangxuan, cultivate in Yunlan, and become recognized Ye Clan branch members 94.
- Demonstrated result: The clan’s realms remain stable during the Great Peace Temple’s wider incitement of Ruin Realm rebellions 94.
Enforcement
- Tianlan rebellion: Local lineages conceal resources and invoke Great Jin’s backing against the reforms. Ouyang Yu records their wealth, the Punishment Hall intervenes, and Fengyi crushes the revolt 24 27.
- Ban on Dao Devouring: Jinyu prohibits Dao Devouring and Dao Ginseng cultivation throughout the clan’s own and subordinate realms 94.
- Mandatory disclosure: Jiangnan clans must submit Dao Ginseng registers and lists of incomplete cultivation methods within three days; noncompliance is treated as disloyalty 94.
- Zhu Clan punishment: Fengyi kills its two Purple Mansion heads, and its direct line is executed after evidence proves it secretly moved Dao Ginseng 94.
