Little Spider Kicks Yu Xiaogang Flying
Halfway up the True Dragon Mountain Range.
Zhao Lan, Qian Xunling, and Bibi Dong walked at the front.
Zhao Shan and another person followed the three of them at a considerable distance, seemingly on purpose, escorting the Evil Soul Master.
Zhao Lan glanced at Qian Xunling beside her and said, "Ling, you're so young and so strong. You're sure to make your name known throughout the continent someday."
Qian Xunling smiled. "Of course."
Bibi Dong snorted and shot Zhao Lan a look. "Obviously! Martial Uncle is incredibly powerful. Even your clan master..."
"Little Spider," Qian Xunling said with a chuckle.
Only then did Bibi Dong lower her head and pout, though she cast another resentful glance at Zhao Lan. Zhao Lan didn't understand why Bibi Dong was looking at her that way, but she could clearly sense Bibi Dong's hostility.
Zhao Lan merely smiled back, however. She wasn't annoyed by a child's possessiveness. After all, even though she was already this old, she was quite possessive herself. She gazed affectionately at the young man beside her.
Just then, a boy in fine blue brocade clothes came running down the mountain, crying and wiping away his tears. He was going so fast that he stumbled, though he didn't fall. But every step after that was no longer of his own choosing.
"Ah!!!" The boy hurtled downhill in terror.
"Is that...?" Zhao Lan seemed to recognize him.
But the boy had already hurtled up to Qian Xunling.
Qian Xunling didn't know the fellow. He narrowed his eyes slightly and stepped aside, and the boy crashed to the ground. He fell flat on his face and skidded a long way, eating dirt.
Bibi Dong hid behind Qian Xunling and watched him warily.
Zhao Lan seemed to realize something and exclaimed repeatedly, "That looks like the clan master's son, Yu Xiaogang."
"Yu Xiaogang?" The two men holding the Evil Soul Master behind them instantly looked as terrified as Zhao Lan. One of them and Zhao Lan hurried to help Yu Xiaogang up. He was badly scraped all over, and his clothes were in tatters. The pain made him wail, "It hurts!"
"Why didn't you catch me?" Yu Xiaogang looked resentfully at Zhao Lan and the other man, his eyes red from crying. "It's all your fault."
Then Yu Xiaogang looked at Qian Xunling and pointed at him. "And you! I was falling right in front of you. Couldn't you have caught me?"
Qian Xunling chuckled. "Why should I catch you? You fell on your own. How can you blame anyone else? If you want to blame something, blame your own clumsy legs."
"How dare you speak to me like that?" Yu Xiaogang had already been feeling stifled in the clan and had run down the mountain to vent his feelings. Who would have thought he'd fall flat on his face on the way down, with so many people watching, and then run into someone who dared talk back to him? He gritted his teeth in anger. "What's your name? You dare provoke me? I'll make you pay for it!"
The people in the clan knew he only had half a rank of innate Soul Power, but they only dared look down on him behind his back. This person actually dared look down on him to his face, as if he had torn through the last sheet of window paper.
Yu Xiaogang simply couldn't bear such humiliation.
Zhao Lan stood up and walked over to Qian Xunling. "Ling," she said quietly, "he's the clan master's only son. We can't afford to offend him. Why don't you apologize to him first?"
"Why should Martial Uncle apologize to him? Who does he think he is?" Bibi Dong stepped forward and snapped at Zhao Lan. She had wanted to do that for a long time, and now that she had the chance, she immediately stepped forward. At the same time, she pointed at Yu Xiaogang, so angry her teeth itched. "He fell on his own in the first place. Why was Martial Uncle obliged to catch him?"
"You little..." Yu Xiaogang glared resentfully at Bibi Dong, a girl as lovely as a carved doll. He hadn't wanted to insult her at first, but now that she had made her position clear, he naturally wouldn't back down either.
Bibi Dong snorted and planted her hands on her hips. "What, do you want to fight? I'm afraid I might accidentally beat you to death."
Seeing the two of them like this, Qian Xunling felt a little elated. It had worked. It seemed he wouldn't have to send Little Spider to meet the gods and Buddhas after all. In truth, Qian Xunling had originally hesitated over whether he should really send her to meet them.
After all, Little Spider was his martial niece.
He had practically been raising her as his own daughter.
He would have found it rather hard to do.
But now, it seemed there was no interference from some so-called law of causality, so the matter was easy to resolve. Qian Xunling pointed at Yu Xiaogang and said to Little Spider, "Little Spider, go kick him a couple of times."
"What?!"
Everyone stared at Qian Xunling, dumbfounded.
That included Bibi Dong. She asked quietly, "Martial Uncle, I was only trying to back you up just now. There's no need to actually hit him, is there?"
Qian Xunling grunted and stared at Bibi Dong. "Are you going to kick him or not?"
Little Spider lowered her face. "All right."
With that, Bibi Dong walked toward Yu Xiaogang.
Zhao Lan tried to stop her, but Qian Xunling reprimanded her. "I advise all of you not to lift a finger. Otherwise, it won't be Little Spider kicking him. I'll do it myself."
"Ling, you'll offend the clan master this way. He's a Soul Douluo-level powerhouse, and he might even be able to reach for the Titled Douluo realm someday," Zhao Lan warned.
Qian Xunling chuckled. "So what?"
"Little Spider, do it."
Now that Bibi Dong had made up her mind, she wouldn't hold back. She glared fiercely at Yu Xiaogang. The person she really wanted to kick was Zhao Lan, but Yu Xiaogang was the son of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's master, so kicking him seemed more threatening.
Bibi Dong grinned.
Yu Xiaogang flinched at the creepy laugh.
Still, he didn't think a little girl could deal with him, so he pushed himself upright. "Let's see what you can do to me."
Bibi Dong kicked at him. Yu Xiaogang raised his hands to block, but she was simply too strong. She kicked him straight to the ground, nearly making him vomit up swill.
He truly hadn't expected a little girl to be so strong.
"I was wrong! I surrender!"
"Too late." Bibi Dong raised her foot and kicked Yu Xiaogang several more times. Then she looked back at Qian Xunling. Only when he nodded did she run happily back to his side and ask, "Martial Uncle, I was impressive, wasn't I?"
Qian Xunling smiled. "You were."
Yu Xiaogang, on the other hand, had been kicked so badly that he couldn't stand.
Just then, a powerful surge of Soul Power came from behind them. Zhao Lan and the others looked over and saw a dignified middle-aged man glaring furiously at Yu Xiaogang, who lay on the ground in dirty, disheveled clothes.
Yu Yuanzhen roared, "Who did this?!"
Yu Xiaogang wept, directing all the frustration and resentment in his heart at Qian Xunling and Bibi Dong. "It was them, Father."
Yu Xiaogang looked at Qian Xunling.
But Qian Xunling merely waved. "It's only been two days, Sect Master Yu. Don't you recognize me? We met and spoke at Xue Ye's grand ceremony."
"You are...?" Yu Yuanzhen stared closely at Qian Xunling, his anger vanishing abruptly. Qian Xunling replied, "Ling."
"It really is you." Yu Yuanzhen certainly hadn't forgotten him; he was simply astonished. He hurried over to Qian Xunling, then casually said to Zhao Lan, "Take my son back to the clan for treatment. Don't worry about anything else."
"Oh... oh." Zhao Lan nodded and helped Zhao Shan up.
Qian Xunling pointed at the Evil Soul Master. "Sect Master Yu, I still have some use for that Evil Soul Master. Could you let me have him? I can trade something else for him."
Yu Yuanzhen looked at the Evil Soul Master, whose limbs had been cut off, and waved a hand. "There's no need for a trade. I can just give him to you, Immortal Ling."
"No, I don't like owing people favors. A trade would be more proper," Qian Xunling replied.
Yu Yuanzhen didn't insist. He nodded and said, "Then what do you intend to give in return, Immortal Ling?"
Qian Xunling thought for a moment, then pointed at the pig that was panting with exhaustion as it trotted along beside Yu Xiaogang. "I don't have anything good on hand right now, and ordinary things wouldn't interest you. That's your son's defective Martial Soul, isn't it?"
Yu Yuanzhen nodded, looking somewhat dejected. "Yes."
Qian Xunling replied, "I don't know whether it will help, but I think you could feed this pig Martial Soul more Soul Beast meat and the like from now on. Perhaps you'll reap an unexpected harvest."
"Really?" Yu Yuanzhen wouldn't have believed it from anyone else, but word of Qian Xunling's deeds had already reached him, and he believed him firmly. He nodded. "Thank you for your guidance, Immortal. If it truly works, Yuanzhen will be endlessly grateful."
