Background / History

Spirit Hall Orphanage and Discipleship

Bibi Dong was sent to Spirit Hall's orphanage when she was very young and had apparently never left Spirit City before traveling with Qian Xunling. At six, she left the orphanage and became Qian Xunji's disciple after awakening Twin Martial Souls and Innate Full Soul Power. She initially regarded Spirit Hall as an ideal home and intended to remain there for life 2 6 104.

Qian Xunling recognized that both her Martial Souls were spiders and nicknamed her “Little Spider.” Although his intrusive behavior and teasing initially frightened her, his gift of Ten-Thousand-Year Whale Glue helped her absorb an exceptional first Soul Ring 1 2 3.

When Qian Xunji pressed her to explain that improvement, she disclosed the Whale Glue method. Qian Xunling rebuked her for sharing something valuable after recognizing its importance. Her promised “punishment” was to accompany him as he escaped Spirit City through a wormhole 3 4 5 6.

Travels Across the Continent

Traveling exposed Bibi Dong to injured commoner Soul Masters, sect privilege, and lethal violence. In Suotuo City, she asked whether Spirit Hall could help wounded outsiders who were being refused treatment. Later, a female Evil Soul Master took her hostage before Qian Xunling subdued the attacker; witnessing the woman's suicide left Bibi Dong frightened and sleepless 8 10 11.

Qian Xunling deliberately emphasized developing her judgment before concentrating solely on martial cultivation. Their subsequent travels took her to Heaven Dou City, the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, and Soul King Village. At the well, she persuaded him to spare Dugu Bo; on True Dragon Mountain, she instead defended him aggressively and kicked Yu Xiaogang at his command 13 16 24 25 34 37.

Death Canyon and Sea God Island

Bibi Dong insisted on remaining with Qian Xunling during the journey to Death Canyon. Chen Xin protected her from a wolf ambush, and she accompanied the group to the Death Spider Emperor's lair. After Qian Xunling absorbed its ring, he reserved two Soul Bones for her rather than using them himself 43 45.

She later reassured Ah Yin and Xiao Wu that Qian Xunling had promised not to kill them, and he assigned her to look after Xiao Wu. The group reached Sea God Island through his wormhole ability. During his year of secluded cultivation there, Bibi Dong remained with Ah Yin and Xiao Wu; he had entrusted her with managing affairs in his absence 48 49 54 63.

Far North Training

After returning briefly to Spirit Hall, Bibi Dong continued traveling with Qian Xunling. In Snow Woman Town, she hung a “Medical Clinic” sign on his house. He later took her into the snowy wilderness for practical training, where repeated failures at Soul Power control exhausted her but did not stop her from trying 67 68 76 81.

His growing affection for the Snow Empress made Bibi Dong increasingly jealous. The Deep Sea Demonic Whale King urged her to become strong enough to seize whatever she wanted. She openly rejected his reasoning, but privately resolved to grow stronger so that she would not lose Qian Xunling 90 93.

Spirit Hall Conflicts and Star Luo Journey

At eleven, Bibi Dong confronted Qian Xunling over his attempts to distance himself from her after marrying. She explained that years of constant companionship had made separation unbearable, leaving her unable to eat or sleep properly. He subsequently allowed her to accompany the attack on Clear Sky Castle, with Golden Crocodile offering to watch over her 104 105.

Bibi Dong again persuaded Qian Xunling to relent during the Clear Sky Castle operation, prompting him to wonder whether she had become his conscience. She later accompanied him to the Star Luo imperial city and questioned his plan to abduct Empress Zhu Zhuxi, initially worrying that it would hurt his wives. He explained that the abduction was retaliation for the empire's treatment of Spirit Hall 106 115 116 117.

Personality

Bibi Dong is compassionate and readily challenges cruelty, even when she is frightened of the person responsible. She objects to robbery, asks for help for wounded strangers, and refuses to release Qian Xunling's leg until he agrees to spare Dugu Bo. Her attachment to him does not prevent her from condemning actions she finds wrong 7 8 25 36.

She is also easily frightened by unfamiliar surroundings, nighttime noises, powerful Soul Beasts, and death. Early in their travels, she fears being abandoned and begs to sleep in Qian Xunling's room. Over time, that need for reassurance develops into intense emotional dependence and jealousy toward women who attract his attention 8 10 17 77 93 104.

Despite his frequent jokes about her intelligence, Bibi Dong can be observant and persistent. She correctly identifies that his anger over Chen Jianjun's departure reflects genuine concern, and she continues practicing snow traversal after repeatedly falling face-first into the snow 39 81.

Her loyalty can also make her confrontational. She fiercely defends Qian Xunling against Yu Xiaogang and follows his order to kick him, contrasting with her usual reluctance to witness violence 34.
