The Ancient Era in Progress: Beginning
Within the space that had been created, the Ancient Tree of Life towered into the sky.
Ah Yin, who had been brought back, looked around in bewilderment.
She could sense that nothing about the space had changed, but strangely, the woman in the aqua-green dress who had been meditating was now immobilized, and her lord was in a different position.
It was like suddenly losing internet connection while playing a game, only to reconnect and find that all the other characters had shifted positions.
Little Gu Yuena eyed the unfamiliar woman who had suddenly appeared, warily looking her up and down. She was considering whether to claw her to death when Gu Yue hurriedly spoke up in the Sea of Consciousness to warn her, and she paid Ah Yin no further attention.
The little girl deftly moved her hands, and seven-colored elements rapidly flowed into the Goddess of Life.
The Goddess of Life felt her cultivation swiftly fall below God Level, and even her faint connection to the Ancient Tree of Life was severed. She could not help sighing inwardly, hoping only that this young dragon would not be like the Dragon God and slap her to death one day over a bad mood.
Seeing that the seal had succeeded, little Gu Yuena planted her hands on her hips and gave a smug huff. Then, perfectly satisfied, she returned control of the body and retreated to the Sea of Consciousness for a long sleep.
The moment Gu Yue regained control of the body, he nearly spat out a mouthful of old blood.
"Hiss..."
A piercing agony, mixed with weakness, spread throughout his body.
He had only just returned from Douluo I, where he had experienced firsthand the Silver Dragon King at her peak.
Yet now that he was back in the ancient era, every cell in this body was wailing.
It was like a legendary captain preparing for takeoff, only to go limp the very next second. It was extremely uncomfortable...
Gu Yue cursed up a storm in his heart:
Damn that Asura God! If you wanted to cleave the Dragon God, fine, but why did all the injuries land on me? Surely I didn't inherit them from that old geezer the Dragon God?
Before that old geezer got cleaved, he even said the Silver Dragon King was born from his benevolent thoughts, the hope of the whole village. He couldn't have dumped his injuries on me, could he?
So that sword strike of yours, Asura God, was deliberately meant to make the hope of the whole village drop dead early, was it?
Forcing himself to endure the weakness and agony, Gu Yue kept his expression calm.
The Goddess of Life looked at the young dragon before her, then repeatedly glanced at Ah Yin nearby. She could not help blurting out a question:
"You entered meditation for a moment just now. How did this strange creature suddenly appear?"
"She looks human, but she has the presence of a beast. It doesn't seem like she transformed, either. She seems both human and beast, but she isn't a beastman. I never saw such a strange creature in any of the lower planes once ruled by the Divine Realm."
As she spoke, the Goddess of Life grew even more puzzled.
"Besides, the Douluo Plane is clearly a savage lower realm where even cultivation has yet to emerge. Where did this creature come from? You don't seem surprised at all."
On the present-day Douluo Continent, the great war in the Divine Realm had only just ended. Soul Beasts were still ordinary wild beasts, and humanity had only just been born, so it was natural for the Goddess of Life to find this incredible.
Listening from the side, Ah Yin felt that her whole grass brain was not enough to process what she had heard.
She felt she needed to call on the Blue Silver Grass network and use the brains of all the Blue Silver Grass to think it through together.
The space had warped just now, and she had yet to figure out why the two of them had suddenly teleported out of nowhere. Now, hearing such outrageous words, her brain crashed completely.
A moment later, piecing together these clues, she spoke up somewhat uncertainly to ask for confirmation:
"My lord, could it be that this isn't the era we came from?"
Gu Yue looked at the silly blade of grass in surprise, not expecting her to figure it out. He answered casually, "The ancient era. To be precise, it's the era when humanity had only just been born and even the concept of Soul Beasts had yet to take shape."
Ah Yin's CPU overloaded and began to smoke...
The Goddess of Life, standing nearby, was also stunned by his words. She could not help blurting out another question: "What do you mean by that?"
Faced with the Goddess of Life's utterly astonished question, Gu Yue did not answer.
This space was only so big. Shut her in with that silly blade of grass Ah Yin long enough, and sooner or later she would figure everything out. Going out of his way to educate her and clear up her confusion now would be something to do only if he had too much time on his hands.
Besides, he had not forbidden Ah Yin from explaining things of her own accord. Given Ah Yin's brains, it was only a matter of time before she let it slip anyway.
Gu Yue rose into the air until he was level with the Goddess of Life's eyes.
"You'll find out eventually, but..."
"Xiao Lu, if I remember correctly, after I 'rescued' you from the Divine Realm, I 'lulled you to sleep' the whole way here. You didn't wake up until we entered this space."
Gu Yue leaned closer and deliberately lowered his voice as he laughed.
"If you were asleep the whole way, how could you be so certain this was the Douluo Plane? Xiao Lu, you've been naughty. You actually dared to play unconscious earlier?"
The Goddess of Life thought, This is bad. Meeting Gu Yue's gaze, she guiltily turned her head away, pressing her red lips together and refusing to admit it.
"Oh? You're a tough nut after all. Looks like I'll have to give you a proper punishment."
Gu Yue's gaze fell on the Goddess of Life's slender waist with ill intent.
The Goddess of Life instinctively tried to circulate the divine power in her body to push Gu Yue away in resistance, but Gu Yue suppressed her with a backhanded move.
Gu Yue promptly turned both hands into dragon claws and aimed them straight at the Goddess of Life's waist and armpits.
"Ah-! Wait... wait, stop... ahahaha, what are you doing? Oh... no, stop it, quickly-"
The Goddess of Life, who had been keeping a straight face and refusing to come clean a moment ago, broke down the next. She laughed uncontrollably, shaking like a flower in the wind as her delicate body twisted and struggled. Tears even welled up at the corners of her pale eyes.
In her panicked struggle, she was unable to push the young dragon away because she had been suppressed. To stop those unrestrained little hands, the Goddess of Life instinctively opened her arms and, in her desperation, pulled Gu Yue tightly into her embrace.
That embrace really did it.
Gu Yue had the body of a little girl and was already small. When she grabbed him so tightly in her panic, his whole head was caught off guard and plunged deep into her ample softness.
In her panic, the Goddess of Life held him extremely tight, leaving not the slightest gap. The pressure bearing down on him and the heavy sensation of suffocation nearly made his eyes roll back as he passed out on the spot.
"Mm... let, let go."
Gu Yue desperately flailed his short little legs amid the warm fragrance and soft jade. Bracing both small hands against what was in front of him, he finally managed to push himself free and yank his head out.
"Hah!"
He staggered half a step back, clutching his chest and gulping for breath, his little face flushed bright red.
Now he finally understood how little Gu Yuena had felt when he had squeezed her before, but before he could offer her an apology in his heart...
The scent lingering around his nose and between his lips and teeth was like the greenery of blue mountains beneath a clear sky after snow, and like the delicate fragrance of flowers and orchids beaded with dew at dawn, carrying a warm, soft lingering trace that set his heart astir.
Pleasant as it was, Gu Yue appeared both furious and annoyed. Pointing at the mature goddess before him, he said:
"Damn you, number one wet nurse of the Divine Realm! You think having a lot of milk makes you so great?"
Gu Yue casually gave her a slap on the side, producing a crisp little smack. Her body swayed and she stumbled backward, nearly losing her balance.
The Goddess of Life held both hands tightly before her chest, her entire face and snowy white neck already flushed scarlet with embarrassment.
Her chest rose and fell rapidly. Her eyes misted over as she bit her cherry lips and glared at Gu Yue through tears, feeling both humiliated and aggrieved.
She had clearly just been trying in her panic to stop her from making trouble. Who could have known it would turn into this?
But she soon made peace with it. Fortunately, the one before her was a newly born female dragon, not a male. Letting her have a couple of mouthfuls of milk was no great problem.
Gu Yue had no idea what she was thinking. After calming his heartbeat, he directly strengthened the seal.
Looking at the Goddess of Life, who was utterly powerless to resist, Gu Yue stepped forward and pinched her cheek, lifting his chin slightly.
"Xiao Lu, I'm in a good mood, so I won't hold what just happened against you. But as my spoils of war, what should you call me now?"
The Goddess of Life bit her reddened lower lip tightly and refused to speak.
The next moment, seven-colored light suddenly swirled in Gu Yue's palm. The Goddess of Life jumped in fright, instantly recalling the terrifying sight of the Dragon God tearing a dragon king apart with a basic attack.
Under Gu Yue's teasing gaze, she could only lower her head in humiliation, struggling to call him in a quiet voice:
"My lord."
Gu Yue cupped a hand behind his ear and raised his voice:
"No spirit! I can't hear you! You want to work for me when you're that quiet? Louder!"
Pressed relentlessly by Gu Yue, the Goddess of Life could only close her eyes, flush bright red, and shout at the top of her lungs:
"My lord!!"
Her clear, embarrassed and angry voice echoed through the space, shaking the Ancient Tree of Life's branches and leaves.
"Very good, full of spirit."
Gu Yue nodded in satisfaction, relaxed her seal, and pointed at Ah Yin, who was still questioning her life as a blade of grass.
"Since you're the deity of the law of life and also my subordinate, I'll give you your first assignment. Her true form is the Blue Silver Emperor. She transformed into human form through a special cultivation method, and all of her origin is stored within her body. She no longer has the lifespan advantage of a beast and is no different from a human. I want you to turn her back into her beast form."
After all, hundreds of thousands of years separated the ancient era from Douluo I. Even if Soul Beasts transformed, they were still Soul Beasts and could not become gods at all.
Ah Yin had now taken human form, and sooner or later her lifespan would run out. If she returned to her true Soul Beast form, there would be no need to worry about that. As for the heavenly tribulation, he had another way to deal with it.
Gu Yue flew forward again, patted her shoulder, and KFC'd her:
"Xiao Lu, you'd better work hard. The organization has very high expectations of you. As long as you do a good job, the organization won't treat you unfairly."
