Breakthrough: Seventh-level Warrior
The mountains in the Mountain Range of Magical Beasts stretched on endlessly. Combined with the vegetation that had grown for who knew how many years, this made travel through the range difficult. The greatest trouble was that travelers often had to climb over mountains or take winding detours.
Moonlight flowed like water, and the night was hazy.
Darkness once again silently covered the entire sky. A crescent moon, as if afraid, pulled a wisp of cloud over itself as a veil, revealing only half its face. Its clear, gentle light illuminated the land, sweeping away some of the darkness.
The stars twinkled, turning slowly along their timeless, mysterious paths. They blinked furiously, like countless bright lamps against the pitch-black sky.
A breeze lifted a strand of black hair and brushed it gently against Luo Feng's forehead. He sat cross-legged in silence atop a massive blue-gray rock that rose high beside a jade-green lake, his heart calm and undisturbed.
Luo Feng felt as though he had returned to ten years ago. Back then, he had a goal, but his prospects had been bleak. Now, he had finally found the direction he wanted to go. He no longer needed to feel lost or worried. All that remained was to rely on his own efforts and understanding. He didn't know how far he could go. Perhaps a minor accident would be enough to destroy his fragile life, but he no longer hesitated. The road ahead was long, and all he had to do was take it one step at a time.
The wind, the water, and the calls of birds composed a perfect song of nature. As he listened to the enchanting melody, Luo Feng fell asleep. This time, he didn't wake for a long while. Since being reborn in this world, it was the first time he had slept so peacefully and sweetly.
In the blink of an eye, five days passed. Strangely enough, Luo Feng had slept soundly for five whole days, and no magical beast had carried him away during that time. He had simply lain there without moving an inch.
Luo Feng slowly opened his eyes. Looking at the lake before him, he gradually got up, a wry smile appearing on his lips. "I actually fell asleep in the Magical Beast Forest, and slept that deeply. Luckily, no magical beast passed by, or I wouldn't even have known how I died."
After reflecting on his mistake, Luo Feng sat cross-legged and cultivated his battle qi. Suddenly, he frowned slightly, sensing that something was wrong. When the circulating battle qi returned to his dantian, it began to tremble, and all the battle qi in his lower dantian surged like waves.
"What is this?" An indescribably wry smile then appeared on Luo Feng's face. He had hoped to break through by fighting and killing powerful magical beasts, but to his surprise, after a single nap, the battle qi in his body was showing signs of a breakthrough. How could he not feel helpless?
What Luo Feng didn't know was that, during his slumber, his spirit had completely attuned itself to nature, and his battle qi had naturally circulated at tremendous speed. This was actually quite normal. In the original story, after Linley suffered heartbreak, he created the stone sculpture "Dream Awakening" on the mountain behind his home. His spiritual energy attuned itself to nature for ten days and ten nights, taking him straight from a newly advanced Mage of the Sixth Rank to a Level Seven Mage. What did that mean? Just how monstrous was that?
Moreover, later on, during his travels over ten thousand miles, he also frequently comprehended nature and attuned his heart to it. So Luo Feng's slumber this time was also a result of his letting go of the obsession in his heart, and it would be of no small help to his future cultivation.
"Rumble~~"
Feeling the violent changes in the battle qi within his dantian, Luo Feng broke into a broad smile.
Every strand of battle qi was changing, transforming in essence.
"It's finally starting to break through." Luo Feng waited quietly. At first, only a little of his battle qi began to transform, but as time passed, more and more of it changed. The transformation grew faster and faster, until, in the end, the remaining half was completely transformed in just ten breaths.
"Haha..."
Seventh-level Warrior.
The gap between a Seventh-level Warrior and a Warrior of the Sixth Rank was enormous, just like the gap between a Mage of the Sixth Rank and a Level Seven Mage. Now that Luo Feng had finally reached the seventh level as a warrior, how could he not be happy? Of course, this was only the first step, and the road ahead was still long. He composed himself, slung his greatsword onto his back, and set off toward the depths of the Magical Beast Forest.
Luo Feng nimbly clambered over the tangled branches and vines blocking his path like an ape, but he had barely taken two steps.
"Hiss~~" At the sight not far ahead, Luo Feng couldn't help drawing a sharp breath. The bodies of dozens of people lay sprawled across the ground, their corpses covered in pits and gouges.
"This, this... what on earth is this?" It was Luo Feng's first time seeing such a scene. Fortunately, he had killed quite a few magical beasts, but this was still his first time seeing so many human corpses, and he felt a little uncomfortable.
"They should have died two or three days ago." Luo Feng carefully examined the dozens of corpses, his expression relatively calm. "There are scorch marks on all their clothes, but no wounds from sharp weapons. That means they died fighting a magical beast.
"What happened up ahead? Come on, let's take a look." Having made up his mind, Luo Feng set off again. As he traveled deeper into the Mountain Range of Magical Beasts, he frequently saw the remains of magical beasts and humans along the way, as well as quite a few rusted weapons. He also encountered several relatively weak magical beasts, roughly at the fourth or fifth level. Without a word, he reached back, drew his greatsword, and went straight at them, killing them.
Just then, a discordant rhythm startled Luo Feng. He looked toward its source. "It should be just ahead. Be careful, and let's go take a look," he said in a low voice.
"What's that? A Level Nine Magical Beast, a Silver Dragon?" Luo Feng looked at the creature ahead. It had a powerful body, a long, thick neck, a horned or frilled head, sharp teeth, and a long tail. It had four powerful claws and flew with a pair of enormous batlike wings. Scales covered and protected its body; beautiful, lustrous silver dragon scales covered it from head to tail. In the sunlight, the Silver Dragon looked so graceful. There was good reason for Silver Dragons to be called the elegant nobles of the dragon race. Yet this Silver Dragon, whose sinuous body stretched over a hundred meters, was in a rather sorry state.
"To think it's a dragon-a Level Nine Magical Beast, a Silver Dragon!" Although Luo Feng had broken through to become a Seventh-level Warrior, he didn't have the slightest chance of winning against a Level Nine Magical Beast. He reckoned that a single blow from one would leave him dead or crippled. A Level Nine Magical Beast was bad enough, but this one just had to be a dragon, the most troublesome kind.
Dragons were mainly divided into two broad categories. One kind had wings, such as the eighth-level Green Dragon and Red Dragon; the ninth-level Silver Dragon, Black Dragon, and Frost Dragon; and the Saint Domain Golden Dragon, Seven-Colored Divine Dragon, and Blood-Jade Crystal Dragon.
The other kind had no wings, such as the Level Eight Magical Beast Velocidragon; the ninth-level Spined Iron-Armored Dragon and Swordback Dragon; and the Saint Domain Thunder Dragon, Tyrant Wyrm, and Triceratops.
The main difference between the winged and wingless kinds was their physical abilities.
Wingless dragons had terrifying physical abilities. Whether it was the Spined Iron-Armored Dragon, the Swordback Dragon, the Thunder Dragon, or the Tyrant Wyrm, their physical defenses were somewhat stronger than those of winged dragons at the same level.
Of course, this only meant that their physical defenses couldn't match those of wingless dragons. Even so, whatever had reduced the Silver Dragon to this state still surprised Luo Feng.
Luo Feng looked up and saw that only two people remained standing opposite the hundred-meter-long Silver Dragon. One was a middle-aged man with a greatsword on his back, battle qi constantly emanating from him. Judging by his appearance, he probably wasn't a Saint Domain expert, but was likely a ninth-level expert. Floating above him was a silver-haired mage who looked to be over a hundred years old. His loose cyan mage robes indicated that he was probably a ninth-level great Wind Element magus.
This man probably isn't a Saint-level Magus either. Why would a Saint-level Magus need to fight two against one? He could bring this Silver Dragon down by himself. But he should have cast the strongest acceleration spell, the Windshadow Spell, on himself to fly in the air for a short time.
The old man smiled faintly. "I know you're a Level Nine Magical Beast, a Silver Dragon. You've killed so many of our subordinates over the past few days. How much magic power do you have left? Do you think you can withstand the two of us attacking you? I advise you to come down obediently. Becoming the magical beast companion of a Level 9 Great Mage Master like me isn't a bad deal, is it?"
Only then did Luo Feng understand why those people had died so horribly. They had probably been devoured by a group of magical beasts after the Silver Dragon killed them. The people's bodies also bore traces left by the Silver Dragon's Light Element magic.
Luo Feng remained quietly off to the side, watching the hundred-meter-long creature ahead and the Warrior of the Ninth Rank and Level 9 Great Mage Master below. He seemed to be waiting for an earth-shaking battle.
