Purple-Gold Rat King
Who was the Purple-Gold Rat King? Luo Feng, having read the original Coiling Dragon, was naturally familiar with him. Perhaps everyone on the Yulan Continent believed that the Purple-Gold Rat King was one of the greatest kings among Saint-level Magical Beasts, the king of the rat hordes throughout the Dark Forest.
But they didn't know that the Purple-Gold Rat King's father was none other than the king of the Dark Forest and, at the same time, the king of the entire Yulan Continent-Lord Beirut.
Who was Beirut? His original body was a Deity-level magical beast, but he was the only God-Eater Rat born across countless planes. As the name suggested, a God-Eater Rat could devour gods. It was extraordinarily domineering.
Among the four Higher Planes was one called the Infernal Realm. Beirut was the prefect of Indigo Prefecture there, and his strength was terrifying. Though he was not a Paragon High-God, he could rival one. Neither the patriarchs of the Eight Great Clans nor Asura-level experts with Sovereign Artifacts were a match for him.
His innate divine ability, God-Eater, could sweep aside almost every Highgod, with the exception of those possessing soul-protecting Sovereign Artifacts and Paragon High-Gods. His body was comparable to a physical defense Sovereign Artifact, so Beirut could be said to have almost no weaknesses. And Beirut had achieved strength nearly on par with a Paragon High-God after fusing only five Profound Mysteries of the Laws. If he could break through to become a Paragon High-God, he would far surpass ordinary Paragon High-Gods.
His unique Divine Spark Weapons were also a prestigious hallmark of his across countless planes. The reason was simple: Sovereign Artifacts were too rare, yet Beirut's Divine Spark Weapons could rival them. Taking all this together, how could Beirut not inspire awe across the planes?
That wasn't even the most important part. Having read the later parts of Coiling Dragon's story, Luo Feng knew that Beirut was more than just a peak existence who could rival a Paragon High-God. He was a genuine lower Wind Sovereign.
It could be said that Beirut was a very important big boss hidden in the story of Coiling Dragon.
Leaving Beirut aside, the three Purple-Gold Rat Kings alone were super-rich second-generation heirs born with diamond keys in their mouths. Although they hadn't inherited Beirut's God-Eater Rat bloodline, their birth was unspeakably noble. Other people struggled and toiled for a single Divine Spark, while they cast them aside like candy.
Their family even had three of the only seventy-seven Overgod Divine Sparks in existence. That was simply more impressive than being born with a diamond key in one's mouth.
Moreover, although they were Purple-Gold Rat Kings, they couldn't fool Luo Feng. They were all Midgods; the Purple-Gold Rat Kings were merely their original bodies. They had been born millions of years ago, yet they were still Midgods.
How could Luo Feng not know how strong they were? With Beirut's status, making his three sons Highgods would have been easier than easy. Even Bebe, who appeared later and had never liked training, had been helped by Beirut with soul fragments until he became a Highgod through his own efforts. That was very different from becoming a god by refining a Divine Spark. Yet the three brothers were still Midgods, which left only one explanation.
From the very beginning, when they had just become Lowgods, Beirut had made them use Fusion Laws to become Midgods, and then to become Highgods. Although the three brothers were still only Midgods, Luo Feng would never believe they lacked the strength of Seven Star Fiends, not even if he were beaten to death.
They had the finest cultivation resources imaginable and had trained for millions of years. They were figures from the same era as Tarosse the Ba-Serpent. Tarosse had become a Seven Star Fiend-level expert after only two thousand years in the Infernal Realm. With Beirut as their father and abundant resources, Luo Feng would never believe that Harry and his brothers had failed to reach the Seven Star Fiend level after millions of years, not even if he were beaten to death.
In the eyes of the three Purple-Gold Rat King brothers, he was nothing with any value to them. He wouldn't even catch their attention. How was Luo Feng supposed to face them? It was better to leave as soon as possible.
"Yes, I had just become a Warrior of the Ninth Rank and was arrogant and conceited. Later, I fought a Saint Domain expert, lost, and was gravely injured. I fell into the Dark Forest by accident. Please forgive me, Lords Rat Kings. I'll leave right away." Luo Feng had just prepared to leave when the eldest of the Purple-Gold Rat Kings held him down.
"Kid, it wasn't easy for us three brothers to find something entertaining. Do you think you can just walk away now?" Harry, the eldest Purple-Gold Rat King, said.
"Uh, I don't understand what you mean, Lord Rat King," Luo Feng said with a bitter smile. He really was unlucky. He had only played the zither, and he had ended up recognizing three super-rich second-generation heirs. How could his luck be this bad?
"You still don't understand what my big brother means? You're under my protection now. No one from that shitty War God Sect would dare come looking for you. All you have to do is stay here in the Dark Forest and play the zither for us. From now on, you'll be a friend of us three Purple-Gold Rat King brothers," the second Purple-Gold Rat King said casually.
Luo Feng was stunned. Did this count as being kept? Even if it was only as a subordinate? But wasn't this plane a little too much? The Silver Dragon Wa'ersi watched the scene dumbly from the side. Weren't these three Saint-level Magical Beast kings a little too formidable?
Honestly, if he stuck with the three Purple-Gold Rat Kings, becoming a Highgod would be easy. As for the descent of the gods two hundred years later, Luo Feng could be said to have found backing. But Luo Feng wasn't someone content to remain beneath others, and he wouldn't accept such an arrangement.
"Lord Rat King, I don't quite understand what you mean," Luo Feng said with a frown.
Harvey, the third Purple-Gold Rat King, who had been silent until now, said, "Kid, how old are you? Judging by your strength, you should be able to break through and become a Saint Domain expert within the next few years, right?"
"My master is twenty-three and is known as invincible beneath the Saint Domain." The Silver Dragon, who had been left out on the side, finally found a chance to interject.
"Twenty-three? Hmm, not bad. Your talent ranks among the top thousand of the people I've met," Hart, the second Purple-Gold Rat King, said.
The Silver Dragon stared dumbly as they spoke. Were these Saint-level Magical Beast kings bragging? His master's talent made him an unparalleled genius on the Yulan Continent, yet these fellows made it sound worthless. If he had the strength, he would probably have gone up and beaten him.
Luo Feng didn't mind at all. Who were these three Rat Kings? They were experts from millions of years ago. Even if only a few geniuses appeared every ten thousand years on average, he still wouldn't rank among them. Some freakish figures in other planes were even born in the Saint Domain, became Lowgods in ten years, Midgods in a hundred, and Highgods in a thousand. Only the Silver Dragon didn't know.
Just in the World Destruction War tens of thousands of years ago, experts from countless planes had descended. Given what they had seen, such high praise for Luo Feng was already polite.
"Lords Rat Kings, I don't mind playing the zither for you here, but I still have many things to do. I really need to leave," Luo Feng said through gritted teeth, no longer afraid of offending them.
"Once you reach the Saint Domain, you'll be qualified to be our friend and gain our friendship. For the next few years, stay here and play more of the music you played today for us. Once you reach the Saint Domain, you can leave," Harry, the eldest, finally said.
And so, every day, Luo Feng played the zither whenever he wasn't cultivating Battle-qi. The Silver Dragon and the three Purple-Gold Rat King brothers liked to stay by his side at those times, enjoying the beautiful artistic conception of his music.
