Douluo: My Custom Achievement System
"Soul Power recovery, the favorability of Plant-type Martial Souls, and the ability Life Infection."
Jiang Yi's eyes shone. He had a new idea for the future direction of his Martial Soul cultivation.
Chapter 48: Cultivation Direction Confirmed (Please Keep Reading!)
Jiang Yi had always followed one direction in cultivating his Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul.
That was to fuse exclusively with Soul Rings possessing powerful vitality, though he could also choose to fuse with other Soul Rings suited to Blue Silver Grass's characteristics.
As long as a Plant-type Soul Beast possessed powerful vitality, its strength in every aspect could be greatly enhanced.
So that cultivation direction was undoubtedly correct.
But now that he had gained so many achievements related to Blue Silver Grass, Jiang Yi felt he should change his cultivation direction.
Grass-Headed Emperor allowed him to command Blue Silver Grass and see through it.
Borrow Life and Restore Vitality allowed him to form life links with Blue Silver Grass and draw on its vitality.
And the newly acquired I Am Blue Silver, Blue Silver Is Me allowed him to circulate Soul Power with Blue Silver Grass, replenishing the Soul Power he consumed.
The powerful combined effect of the three achievements could turn Jiang Yi into a terrifying existence who could not be killed, had nearly inexhaustible Soul Power, and had countless helpers.
In an instant, he would go from an ordinary Soul Master to a terrifying big boss.
But the most important thing needed to reach that state was Blue Silver Grass.
All three achievements depended on there being a vast expanse of Blue Silver Grass around him.
Naturally, it was impossible for him to leave three great treasure troves unexcavated.
So Jiang Yi planned to make sure his Second Soul Ring gave him a Soul Skill that could make Blue Silver Grass grow rapidly.
After releasing the Soul Skill, he could create a vast field of Blue Silver Grass around him, allowing him to bring his achievement rewards to their full potential.
If he could really obtain such a Soul Skill, Jiang Yi would effectively gain a domain Soul Skill, and an extremely powerful domain at that.
"There are quite a few Plant-type Soul Beasts that can grow extremely fast and produce a vast expanse all at once."
"And most of those Soul Beasts also possess powerful vitality, so it wouldn't be a departure from Blue Silver Grass's fundamental characteristics."
Jiang Yi nodded slowly. He had decided what he needed from his next Soul Ring.
He stood up and used the Soul Power circulation between himself and the Blue Silver Grass to restore his Soul Power to its peak.
And then there's Life Infection. It's a divine skill among divine skills.
With Life Infection, I really can make my earlier plan to cover the Douluo Continent in fields of Blue Silver Grass a reality.
When the time comes, if my spiritual power is strong enough, just how powerful would I be if I linked up with the Blue Silver Grass spread across the entire Douluo Continent?
Jiang Yi's eyes shone as he pictured the scene.
But I'm not a spiritual-type Soul Master. When it comes to improving my spiritual power, I really do have a heavy burden and a long road ahead of me.
With these thoughts in mind, Jiang Yi left the vast field of Blue Silver Grass and headed into Spirit Mountain City.
Early the next morning, Jiang Yi had just finished cultivating and stepped into the courtyard when he heard a puzzled voice.
"Huh? That's strange. How did so much Blue Silver Grass grow in the courtyard? I remember there being nothing but ordinary weeds here before."
Jiang Yi looked toward the voice and saw that Aunt Rou had risen early and was staring at the Blue Silver Grass in the courtyard in puzzlement.
Naturally, this had happened because Jiang Yi had used Life Infection.
He could become stronger wherever there was Blue Silver Grass, so naturally he had to assimilate some at home.
That way, if anything unexpected happened at home in the future, he would have greater strength to resist.
After voicing her puzzlement, Aunt Rou couldn't make sense of the situation, but she didn't dwell on it.
She went straight to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for Jiang Yi and the others.
Aunt Rou's health hasn't worsened. Uncle She's financial support must have put an end to the overwork that was aggravating her heart disease.
But Aunt Rou has had a weak heart since birth. Problems are still very likely to arise in the future, so I have to find her a Black Tortoise Divine Pill quickly.
I don't have that many gold coins right now. I'd better ask Teacher for help.
Once my strength improves, earning money will be easy enough.
Jiang Yi silently thought this as he watched Aunt Rou's busy figure from behind.
The Black Tortoise Divine Pill was also a pill produced by the Mysterious Nether Sect. It was even more precious than the Mystic Water Pill and very difficult to obtain, so he planned to discuss it with Li Lingyu.
After breakfast, Jiang Yi and Jiang Nannan cleared away the dishes and headed to Lingshan Junior Academy together.
There weren't many people at Lingshan Junior Academy during the holiday, and the two soon arrived at Li Lingyu's residence.
His door was tightly shut, and they didn't know whether anyone was inside.
"Teacher Li, are you there?" Jiang Nannan called from the doorway.
"Come in," Li Lingyu's voice answered from inside.
"Hehe, let's go in." Jiang Nannan pulled Jiang Yi along as she pushed open the door.
Seeing how happy Jiang Nannan had been ever since coming home, Jiang Yi smiled too.
He knew Jiang Nannan had kept up a cold and aloof manner at Shrek Academy, and it must have been stifling.
As soon as Jiang Yi entered the room, he smelled a fragrance and immediately recognized it.
That's the smell of a Mysterious Water Buffalo horn burning. Looks like Teacher still hasn't given up on researching the Mystic Water Pill, Jiang Yi thought.
As he was thinking this, Jiang Nannan suddenly exclaimed in surprise.
"Teacher Li, why do you have five Soft Bone Rabbits here?"
Jiang Yi looked over and saw Jiang Nannan standing in front of a transparent glass cabinet. Inside it were five lively ten-year Soft Bone Rabbits.
On a table nearby lay a pile of metals and ores of various colors.
At that moment, Li Lingyu was testing medicine on the other side of the room. Without turning his head, he replied:
"I'm planning to study the Soft Bone Rabbit's bloodline some more. I'll use minerals containing elemental power to investigate further what attributes entered the Soft Bone Rabbit's bloodline over the course of its inheritance."
At those words, gratitude immediately appeared on Jiang Nannan's face.
Li Lingyu had suddenly begun studying Soft Bone Rabbits specifically, and it was clearly to help her make a good choice for her Soul Ring.
It had been some time since Jiang Nannan obtained her third Soul Ring, and her Soul Power had reached rank thirty-three.
In a little over a year, close to two, she would be able to fuse with her fourth Soul Ring. Li Lingyu's in-depth research now was a way of preparing for a rainy day.
"Thank you, Teacher Li," Jiang Nannan said gratefully.
"Just listen to my arrangements when you fuse with your Soul Ring." Focused on testing the medicine, Li Lingyu answered mildly.
Jiang Nannan didn't mind. Having studied under Li Lingyu alongside Jiang Yi for so long, she knew what he was like when conducting experiments, and she still wore a delighted smile.
"Brother Jiang Yi, come here! This Soft Bone Rabbit is so cute!" Jiang Nannan picked up a Soft Bone Rabbit and called to Jiang Yi.
Li Lingyu was still experimenting, so Jiang Yi chose not to disturb him. He went over to Jiang Nannan and played with the cute Soft Bone Rabbits with her.
Chapter 49: Food? Medicinal Ingredients! (Please Keep Reading!)
In Li Lingyu's room, which looked less like a residence and more like a laboratory, Jiang Yi was holding a Soft Bone Rabbit and playing with it.
What struck him as a little strange was that the Soft Bone Rabbit was extremely affectionate toward him, even more so than toward Jiang Nannan, who possessed a Soft Bone Rabbit Martial Soul.
What's going on? The favorability I gained was with Blue Silver Grass and Plant-type Soul Beasts. Soft Bone Rabbits are animal Soul Beasts, so they shouldn't be affected, right? Jiang Yi wondered.
Jiang Nannan was puzzled by the sight too.
"How strange. Could it be that it wants to eat your Blue Silver Grass, Brother Jiang Yi?" Jiang Nannan guessed.
At her words, Jiang Yi realized that was indeed a possibility.
Soft Bone Rabbits were herbivores, and Blue Silver Grass, which could be found everywhere on the Douluo Continent, was naturally part of their diet.
He often spent time in fields of Blue Silver Grass, and his own Martial Soul was Blue Silver Grass, so it was perfectly normal for him to smell of it.
Just then, Li Lingyu, who was testing medicine nearby, suddenly spoke. "Oh, right, Little Yi, these Soft Bone Rabbits haven't been fed today. Feed them with your Blue Silver Grass."
"All right, Teacher," Jiang Yi readily agreed.
He had never actually fed his Blue Silver Grass to a Soul Beast.
Blue Silver Grass condensed in his palm, and all the Soft Bone Rabbits were immediately drawn to it. They squirmed constantly, trying to get a bite of the Blue Silver Grass.
"Nannan, put that Soft Bone Rabbit back in the cabinet," Jiang Yi instructed.
Jiang Nannan obediently put it back. As he continuously supplied Soul Power, Blue Silver Grass grew inside the cabinet, then fell away from the main plant into the cabinet.
The five ravenous Soft Bone Rabbits immediately pounced on it and ate their fill.
Jiang Yi's Blue Silver Grass was brimming with vitality. As the Soft Bone Rabbits ate it, something subtle yet strange was happening.
The method Li Lingyu used to determine what attributes lay within the bloodlines of the Soft Bone Rabbits he had captured was bloodletting.
He brought the Soft Bone Rabbits' blood into contact with the special metals and ores that possessed attributes, then observed how the blood reacted to ores of different attributes.
So there were small wounds on the ankles of all five Soft Bone Rabbits.
But as they ate Jiang Yi's Blue Silver Grass, the wounds on their ankles were slowly healing.
Jiang Yi didn't notice, but a look of delight suddenly flashed across his eyes.
As the Soft Bone Rabbits ate the Blue Silver Grass, the system's voice sounded in his mind.
"Detected that the host's Blue Silver Grass has been eaten as food by five Soul Beasts. Its powerful vitality accelerated the healing of the Soul Beasts' wounds. Achievement obtained."
"Achievement name: Walking Healing Medicine. (You have changed classes from a battle good-for-nothing to a healing medicine renowned throughout the Soul Beast Realm. Your Martial Soul may not be the strongest, but it might be the most nourishing.)"
"Achievement reward: 1. Beast-Luring Medicinal Fragrance: Your Martial Soul can actively release a medicinal fragrance, attracting most Soul Beasts to approach."
"2. Essence Extraction: You can extract the vitality in Blue Silver Grass into Life Essence. Depending on the amount of vitality, this essence has healing effects of varying strength."
Has my Blue Silver Grass become a Food-type Martial Soul? Come to think of it, Blue Silver Grass might actually be cultivable as a food-type or healing-type Martial Soul, Jiang Yi thought, bemused.
Its powerful vitality could give Blue Silver Grass a healing function. As long as he fused with a few Soul Rings chosen for that purpose,
and made the Blue Silver Grass easier to absorb and consume, it wasn't impossible for it to become a food-type and healing-type Martial Soul.
But Jiang Yi clearly had no intention of changing classes to become a food-type or healing-type Soul Master.
The greatest use of this reward was actually its healing function.
With Essence Extraction, perhaps I won't need to obtain a Black Tortoise Divine Pill for Aunt Rou's illness after all. Jiang Yi's eyes lit up.
And perhaps there's also a way to treat Teacher's injuries through Essence Extraction.
Li Lingyu himself was well versed in pharmacology and must have tried many methods to treat himself, but ultimately none had resolved the injuries inside his body.
The injuries inside his body must be extremely troublesome.
But just because medicine couldn't resolve an injury didn't mean vitality couldn't.
Vitality was the underlying principle of healing medicine and was the purest thing there was. As long as the vitality was pure and powerful enough, it could certainly heal any injury.
I'll start extracting Life Essence today. There's plenty of Blue Silver Grass near Spirit Mountain City. Even while keeping it sustainable, I can certainly extract quite a lot of Life Essence.
By the time Jiang Yi made his decision, Li Lingyu had also finished testing the medicine.
He sighed helplessly. Clearly, his research was not progressing smoothly.
"Little Yi, did you two come to see me about something?" Li Lingyu set the medicine testing aside for the moment and asked Jiang Yi.
Jiang Nannan also looked at Jiang Yi. She didn't know why he had come either; she had only wanted to accompany him.
Li Lingyu's question brought Jiang Yi out of his thoughts, and he immediately smiled. "Nothing. I just came to see you, Teacher."
"Also, Aunt Rou asked me to invite you to have New Year's Eve dinner with us. Would you be willing to come, Teacher?"
"Have New Year's Eve dinner together?" Li Lingyu was briefly lost in thought.
He was an orphan, and before he turned eleven, he had always spent New Year alone.
But given his temperament, he had never taken such things to heart, and after he turned eleven, he had someone to spend New Year with him.
Unfortunately, that had been a long time ago.
