Hughes stared coldly at Gogirde, flames burning silently at the wounds on his two halves of body.

My head hurts, but not as much as I expected; it doesn't even hurt as much as a third of the pain I used to experience when I had an attack.

Just in case, Hughes pulled a psychic potion from his waist and poured it into his mouth.

With Granny Porlyusica's medicine on him, what is there for him to fear from Gogirde?

"If you're willing to show yourself, things will be much easier!" Hughes murmured, looking at Gogirde.

As soon as he finished speaking, the flames on Hughes's body roared as his body, which had split in two, rejoined.

What he and Laxus feared was that Gogirde hide in the shadows or escape from Alon Island.

Now that this idiot has shown himself, what's the difference between him and walking right to his death?

"Laxus, he attacked me first. I'll handle him. You keep watch, and I won't fight you for the rest!"

Laxus hesitated, realizing he was clearly at a disadvantage. Defeating Gogirde's underlings was nothing compared to defeating Gogirde.

Hughes didn't give Laxus a chance to speak and attacked directly.

"Take this Flaming Divine Fist!"

Hughes roared, flames engulfing his body, then leaped into the air and swiftly advanced towards Gogirde.

His right arm was raised high, his muscles bulging, and flames blazed on his right fist.

Gogirde alert, his eyes fixed on Hughes ' right arm. This punch was no joke; he had to take it seriously.

Unexpectedly, halfway down his right arm, Hughes turned to the side and delivered a powerful, fiery kick to Gogirde's chest.

Gogirde, whose attention was entirely focused on Hughes' right fist, was completely caught off guard by Hughes' last-minute change of attack, and it was too late for him to defend.

"Bang!"

Hughes delivered a powerful kick to Gogirde's chest, Gogirde Hughes could approach him. He coughed up blood as he flew backward, finally crashing heavily onto the hill.

"Boom!"

The rocks on the hill were shaken and slid down, thick smoke billowed out, and someone who didn't know better would have thought there was a landslide.

Cough, cough!

Hidden in the hill, Gogirde coughed twice with difficulty, spitting out two mouthfuls of blood that stained his clothes red on his chest, revealing a huge footprint faintly beneath the bloodstains.

"Shameless!" Laxus sneered.

Hughes humbly bowed, indicating that the praise was too high for him to accept.

Hughes, who was well-versed in the sixteen-character mantra of "when the enemy advances, we retreat; when the enemy camps, we harass; when the enemy tires, we attack; when the enemy retreats, we pursue," raised his right arm again and slowly pulled it behind his back, flames blazing on his fist.

This time, he had no intention of feinting; he should press on with his remaining strength and not seek fame like Xiang Yu.

While that bastard Gogirde was still fuming, Hughes planned to finish him off in one fell swoop, lest things get complicated.

"Fire Fist!"

With a loud shout, a ball of fire, three-quarters the size of the hill in front, suddenly bombarded the hill where Gogirde was located.

"Bang!"

In Hughes's view, the Fire Fist shattered the hill, its remaining force so fierce that it leveled the area behind the hill as well.

The earth shook violently, Gogirde was reduced to dust, dispersing into it.

Hughes clapped his hands in satisfaction; little Gogirde was easily handled.

"Laxus, how powerful was my Fire Fist? Let me tell you, give me a little more time to develop, and this Fire Fist could even destroy this entire Alon Island."

"Ah, yes, yes, yes!" Laxus replied perfunctorily. If it weren't for the fact that it didn't suit his image, he would have even wanted to applaud Hughes.

Hughes understood that Laxus was mocking him, and immediately turned around to glare at him. "What kind of attitude is that? A hero, don't you understand? I put in the most effort on this mission."

"Ah, yes, yes, a hero, you are a great hero." As he spoke, Laxus pointed a finger at Hughes' feet.

"My hero, if you keep arguing with me like this, Gogirde run away; you don't even know you've fallen under someone else's Illusion Magic, and you still have the nerve to pretend!"

Upon hearing this, Hughes immediately looked down and saw a pitch-black magic circle slowly dissipating beneath his feet.

Hughes froze, looking up to see the familiar hill ahead. Gogirde had struggled out of the hill and was leaning against it, panting.

"Wait, where did that Fire Fist go?" Hughes asked Laxus in confusion.

He definitely threw that Fire Fist; there are still marks on his right arm, and that can't be faked.

Laxus pointed to the sky. "You yelled 'Fire Fist,' then looked up at the sky with an excited expression, right fist..."

"Alright, that's enough!" Hughes quickly interrupted. Some things you don't feel ashamed of when you do them yourself, but when someone else says them, the shame doubles.

Laxus only said a word or two, and he was already so embarrassed that his scalp tingled.

Shaking his head, Hughes looked up at Gogirde, who was still catching his breath and catching his breath; his face was no longer as pale as before.

Hughes stared at him intently for a few moments, then spread his arms wide and aimed them at Gogirde, who was looking distressed not far away. A faint green light emanated from his palms.

To avoid falling victim again, Hughes was highly focused this time.

Strands of green flames continuously emerged from Hughes's palm, dense and numerous, like a vast army, surrounding Gogirde from all directions.

"Firefly - Fire Daruma!"

As Hughes roared, the green light on his palms instantly turned into scorching flames.

The green light surrounding Gogirde exploded instantly.

Explosions continued incessantly, and scorching flames piled up and burned, the intense heat distorting the air and producing airbursts.

Undeterred, Hughes continued to unleash fiery red flames from his hands.

Under Hughes's control, the flames were continuously compressed and solidified, eventually coalescing into an incomparably scorching flaming spear.

Hughes gripped the scorching spear, his arm muscles bulging, and slowly pulled his arms behind him.

Aiming at Gogirde in the blast radius, he hurled the weapon with tremendous force.

"Sacred Fire Shiranui!"

"Whoosh~"

"Bang!"

Two flaming spears pierced the air, passed through the circle of explosive flames, and exploded into Gogirde's body with a bang.

In an instant, the entire valley seemed to transform into a world of flames, with crackling sounds filling the air.

Laxus, standing behind Hughes, had the golden lightning in his hand gradually fading. He had originally intended to finish Hughes off, but it seemed he wouldn't be able to annoy Hughes this time.

"Resolved?"

Hughes shook his head with a composed expression. He was certain that he had not been affected by Gogirde's Illusion Magic this time.

However, the state of the flames burning in the arena is not right now; Gogirde have had a way to block these two waves of attacks.

Under Laxus's gaze, flames rose again from Hughes's body; then, Hughes transformed into flames and merged into the blazing inferno in front of him.

Hughes wanted to see how Gogirde, a dark mage who mastered Illusion Magic, could withstand his barrage of attacks.
