Give Your Martial Uncle's Sword an Enchantment Too
Chin Hok and his party pushed the golden coffin through the mountain forest in a great procession.
A Three Teachings True Spirit Talisman from Lin Yu was pasted to each of the coffin's four corners.
Hearing the rumble from the sky, Chin Hok glanced worriedly at the tent over the coffin.
"I hope nothing goes wrong."
Chin Hok prayed silently.
"Martial uncle, why don't we escort Martial Uncle Chin Hok part of the way?"
Lin Yu could no longer see Chin Hok and the others, but he still couldn't put his mind at ease.
He wanted to make absolutely sure nothing went wrong, so he made the request to Four Eyes.
"Why? Don't worry. Your Martial Uncle Chin Hok is far more capable than you think."
Four Eyes clearly didn't want to move, though he too felt a pang of unease.
"If you won't go, I'll go myself."
With that, Lin Yu headed outside.
"Hey! All right, all right, I'll go. Wait while your martial uncle gets a few things. I'll go with you."
Four Eyes had no choice. He couldn't let a child run around alone in the wilderness.
He could only pack up, grab some lightweight equipment and an umbrella, and take Lin Yu along the route the main party had taken.
Seeing that his plan had succeeded, Lin Yu looked up at the darkening sky.
I don't know whether cause and effect matters in this world. Heh, Senior Brother Ren Fa and the others have already had their fates changed, so why worry about all that?
He thought silently.
In his previous life, Lin Yu had watched the movie so many times. Every time, he saw Chin Hok spend his life slaying demons and vanquishing devils, only to end up bitten by a jiangshi.
His heart couldn't settle for a long time afterward.
Now that he too had become someone who slew demons and vanquished devils, he could better understand the shame his martial uncle had felt at the time.
He would never let that happen. Just what great waves could a single jiangshi stir up?
It was already dark by the time Lin Yu and Four Eyes caught sight of the rear of the procession.
"Oh, my aching back!"
Only after hurrying along the whole way and finally seeing people ahead did Four Eyes clutch his lower back and complain to Lin Yu.
"Oh, save it, martial uncle. With your copper skin and iron bones, how could your back hurt?"
Lin Yu thumped Four Eyes on the back with disdain and mocked him.
"Tch, you don't care about your martial uncle at all."
Seeing that, Four Eyes dropped the act and grumbled with a blank face.
"Rumble!"
A thunderclap startled Four Eyes so badly he nearly jumped.
"This damned weather! It starts raining just like that."
No sooner had the thunder sounded than bean-sized raindrops came pouring down. Four Eyes hurriedly shielded Lin Yu with his hand and ran toward Chin Hok.
"Senior Brother?!"
Chin Hok was still asking Minister Wu to move the coffin into the tent first when he suddenly saw Four Eyes running out of the woods.
"Oh, Xiao Yu was worried about you and asked me to come check on you."
Four Eyes haughtily distanced himself from the matter.
"Then thank you both for your concern, Senior Brother, Martial Nephew."
Chin Hok knew what his senior brother was like, so he went along with him and thanked them both.
"Junior Brother."
At that moment, Dong Nan Xi Bei also came over and greeted Lin Yu.
Whenever they stood before Lin Yu, they couldn't help feeling rather ordinary themselves.
All the elders praised Lin Yu but paid them no attention, so they couldn't help feeling frustrated.
Still, they were a simple-hearted bunch and felt no jealousy. They merely found themselves too hesitant to approach Lin Yu.
"Hello, senior brothers."
Looking at the four bashful young men, Lin Yu understood how they felt.
In his previous life, when he was still a poor student, he too had stood silently to the side, too afraid to speak, as the top students discussed problems.
"This is bad. The tent's too small to keep out rain this heavy."
Just then, Four Eyes saw that part of the ink-marker lines on the coffin had already been soaked, and ink was beginning to drip from them.
"Minister Wu, why don't we move the coffin inside first? Otherwise, in a moment..."
Chin Hok also knew how serious the situation was and went to make the request of Minister Wu.
"Ah, you're right. In a moment is fine, but not now."
Minister Wu didn't let Chin Hok finish before ushering the young prince inside.
"Alas." Chin Hok went back helplessly.
Four Eyes comforted Chin Hok, whose request had been flatly rebuffed.
"Tch, a feudal dynasty. It deserved to decline."
Lin Yu, meanwhile, held the umbrella and watched the golden coffin warily. As more and more of the ink-marker net and talismans became soaked, the big thing inside had already begun to grow restless.
Just then, another tent was ready, and Chin Hok hurriedly called several guards over to push the coffin inside.
"Martial uncles, senior brothers, stand back!"
Lin Yu suddenly pulled his two martial uncles and his senior brothers backward.
"What is it, Xiao Yu?" Chin Hok asked in puzzlement.
The others also waited for Lin Yu's explanation. After all, every second they delayed now was dangerous.
Lin Yu said nothing. He merely looked up at the sky. Perhaps because he often drew Lightning Talismans, he could clearly sense lightning gathering overhead.
But this lightning was strange. It possessed none of the supremely yang, supremely firm Qi that lightning should have. Instead, it was sinister and evil in the extreme.
"There's something in the sky."
Lin Yu warned everyone to be careful.
As soon as Lin Yu spoke, a gust of sinister wind swept over them, and the downpour suddenly stopped.
"The rain stopped?" Dong Nan Xi Bei exchanged glances.
"Watch out!"
As Lin Yu spoke, a bolt of brilliant blue lightning struck the coffin.
It broke straight through the suppression of the Three Teachings True Spirit Talismans.
"Is even heaven helping it?"
Four Eyes had also noticed the strangeness, but he merely thought the jiangshi was lucky.
The lightning bolt seemed to have helped the jiangshi undergo a tribulation. It had now awakened intelligence and could emerge at any moment.
"What's going on? Why's it so noisy?"
Minister Wu was still attending to the young prince. Hearing the commotion outside the tent, he came out to take a look.
"Aiya! You scared me to death!"
He saw the coffin lid slowly being pushed open.
A shrill, piercing roar came from within.
So frightened that he hurried back into the tent to hide.
"Quick, Dong Nan Xi Bei, the hemp ropes!"
Chin Hok hurriedly jumped onto the coffin and used a Thousand-Jin Drop to hold it down as he shouted.
"Martial Uncle, when it pushes the lid open, be careful it doesn't fall on you."
Lin Yu called out a warning.
Chin Hok nodded.
"Aiya, if I'd known this damned thing would come out, I'd have brought more equipment."
Four Eyes had also been startled by the strange phenomenon just now. It had drawn a lightning strike before it had even emerged. Just how heaven-defying was it?
Though Four Eyes was still talking, he had already drawn his bronze sword and stood on guard.
"What are you doing?"
Looking at the small hand held out in front of him, Four Eyes asked in puzzlement.
"Where's mine?"
Lin Yu looked at the sword in Four Eyes's hand and clenched his own.
"What's a little brat like you joining in for? Go throw talismans from the side."
Four Eyes stuffed a pile of talismans into Lin Yu's hands and sent him away.
"Tch, looking down on me? You'll have a hard time in a moment."
Lin Yu curled his lip. He knew that this jiangshi had been refined by lightning and would emerge as a copper-armored corpse, even tougher than Four Eyes's copper skin and iron bones.
"Junior Brother, come down. You can't hold it back."
Four Eyes stared grimly at the creaking coffin and called Chin Hok down.
Even the golden coffin with copper feet was nearly being shaken apart. A few ropes wouldn't be enough to contain it.
For now, the ink-marker net could still suppress it a little longer because it hadn't been completely soaked by the rain. Once the net also lost its power, that force would be more than Chin Hok could hold down.
"Everyone else, move away! Dong Nan Xi Bei, prepare to fight!"
Chin Hok also knew they couldn't stop it anymore. He hurriedly ordered the uninvolved people away from the scene. Otherwise, if the jiangshi drank blood, it would be even harder to deal with.
Lin Yu silently took out his Bagua mirror, pointed it at the moon in the sky, and began enchanting it.
Four Eyes's eyes lit up when he saw this. He handed Lin Yu the bronze sword, rubbed his hands together, and grinned lecherously.
"Hehe, Martial Nephew, do your martial uncle a little favor, will you?"
