Are You Stupid? Hacking with a Sword Like It's a Saber
Lin Yu couldn't help rolling his eyes. He could do without this martial uncle.
"Monster, your life is mine~!"
Holding the bronze sword he had just finished enchanting, Four Eyes strode majestically over to the coffin.
By then, the ink-line net on the coffin had been completely corroded by Corpse Qi and was utterly useless.
A tremendous force suddenly flung the coffin lid open, and a powerful presence instantly spread through the surroundings.
Everyone swallowed. This zombie was nearly a zombie king, wasn't it?
Four Eyes had been strutting around only moments ago, but after sensing that terrifying Corpse Qi, his confidence drained away.
"Roar~!"
An ear-piercing roar announced that the zombie king had officially emerged from its coffin.
The sound made Lin Yu and the others' eardrums ache, and they involuntarily covered their ears.
"So you think you're the only one who can shout?"
Four Eyes couldn't take it anymore. He leaped forward first, stabbing fiercely with his sword.
There was a sharp clang~.
Even with the power of lunar yin strengthening it, Four Eyes' bronze sword was still stopped short.
Although the sword failed to pierce it, the power of lunar yin on the blade burned away some of the royal zombie's Corpse Qi.
The pain made the zombie roar in anger, and it lunged at Four Eyes with bared fangs and clawing hands.
"Be careful, senior brother! Dong Nan Xi Bei, use the corpse-binding ropes!"
Chin Hok warned Four Eyes to be careful and not so reckless.
"So hard."
His thrust having failed, Four Eyes kicked the royal zombie with all his strength and used the force to pull away.
Lin Yu watched them struggle against the zombie while he quietly set up a formation around them.
He had improved the Five Spirits Demon-Slaying Formation, adding some things from Taoism's taiji and eight trigrams that countered zombies.
This gave the formation a natural advantage against zombies.
Lin Yu had even thought of a name for it: the Nine Palaces Eight Trigrams Formation. It could defend, attack, and trap enemies, making it much stronger than the Five Spirits Demon-Slaying Formation.
It just took a little longer to set up.
In the fight, Dong Nan Xi Bei each took out a corpse-binding rope and looped it around the zombie. Using every trick they had, the four finally managed to hold it.
"You four be careful. This zombie is no ordinary one."
Seeing the zombie trapped for the moment, Four Eyes also warned the four not to let their guard down.
With that, he and Chin Hok charged in with their swords.
For a time, the zombie was battered by the group and had no chance to fight back.
"Whew~ It's too hard. I can't cut it at all, junior brother."
Four Eyes wiped the nonexistent sweat from his forehead. With his bronze skin and iron bones, how could such a little exercise make him sweat?
It was just too hard. He had stabbed at it for ages without getting through, and in his anger, he had resorted to hacking at it with his bronze sword.
As for Chin Hok's peachwood sword, the instant it touched the zombie, Corpse Qi had corroded it before it could even pierce its flesh, so he was now fighting barehanded too.
He looked at his red, swollen hands, then at Four Eyes' bronze sword, his eyes seeming to say, "You're tired after hacking at it a few times with a sword? Try using your hands."
The zombie, however, wasn't about to wait around while they chatted. Those few tickles just now had already exhausted its patience.
With a great roar, it swept both arms out, sending the distracted Four Eyes and Chin Hok flying.
Then it turned to look at Dong Nan Xi Bei, who had trapped it, and grabbed the ropes in both hands, spinning the four around like a wind-and-fire wheel.
"Senior brothers, let go, quick!"
Lin Yu had finished setting everything up and, seeing this, hurriedly called out. If they were flung away in a moment, that would be terrible.
The four heard Lin Yu's shout and knew that with the zombie's attention on them, they couldn't hold it.
So they hurriedly let go.
"Ow~!"
Unfortunately, although they let go in time, their momentum still sent them flying several meters.
"Martial uncle, catch!"
Seeing that Chin Hok no longer had a ritual implement, Lin Yu tossed his own eight trigrams mirror to him.
Chin Hok caught the implement Lin Yu threw him with a somersault.
Although it wasn't very high-grade, it had been tempered by the sun and the lunar yin and already possessed a trace of divine might.
"Xiao Yu, what about mine?"
Seeing this, Four Eyes wanted one too. His bronze sword was a treasure, and he feared it might break if he hacked with it a couple more times.
"Martial uncle, you already have a bronze sword. How greedy."
Lin Yu complained speechlessly. Even at a time like this, he was still fooling around.
"Martial uncles, I've finished setting up the formation. Help me hold the zombie down. I'm afraid it might see things turning against it and run."
Lin Yu saw that, thanks to Four Eyes' arrival this time, Chin Hok and the others hadn't been too badly injured and should be able to keep it occupied for a while.
"Don't worry. Even if you hadn't said so, I wouldn't let him escape, not even if it cost me my life."
Chin Hok wiped the sweat from his forehead and gave his word.
He had spent his life slaying demons and vanquishing monsters. Now, with a zombie king about to bring disaster to the human world right before his eyes, he would chop off one of its arms even if it cost him his old life.
Seeing this, Lin Yu also pulled out a talisman and gathered the spiritual power within him, ready to throw it at the zombie at any moment.
The zombie also seemed to sense that something was wrong and wanted to jump into the tent to drink blood and restore its strength.
He had already sensed that as long as he absorbed the person inside the tent, he could not only restore his strength but also greatly advance his cultivation.
"We can't let him in!"
Four Eyes also knew that if it got inside, the consequences would be unthinkable.
He hurriedly held his bronze sword crosswise between the zombie and the tent, bracing it firmly against the creature.
The zombie was stubborn too. It wrestled against Four Eyes without biting him, its eyes fixed on the tent.
"I can't hold it, junior brother!"
The veins bulged on Four Eyes' forehead as he strained, but he was still pushed closer and closer to the tent, bit by bit.
"Divine mirror, enchantment, activate!"
Seeing this, Chin Hok formed a hand seal and aimed the eight trigrams mirror at the zombie.
In an instant, the zombie was blasted backward and crashed heavily to the ground.
Four Eyes and Chin Hok hurried over and used all their strength to restrain the zombie, one at its upper body and the other at its lower body.
At that moment, the talisman also landed on the zombie, instantly activating the formation Lin Yu had set up around it.
A huge eight trigrams formation appeared on the ground, and countless rays of brilliant light pressed down on the zombie.
"Martial uncles, get clear!"
Four Eyes and Chin Hok hurried out of the way and limped over to Lin Yu.
"Wow~ Xiao Yu, that eight trigrams mirror of yours is really powerful."
Four Eyes gazed hungrily at the mirror in Chin Hok's hand.
He had used so much strength just now and still couldn't hold the zombie back, yet Chin Hok had sent it flying as soon as he stepped in.
"Martial uncle, is it the eight trigrams mirror that's powerful? You were wasting a heavenly treasure. Who in their right mind goes hacking away with a sword?"
Lin Yu rolled his eyes at that. He had never seen anyone so stupid, using a sword like a saber. The only reason it hadn't broken was the enchantment he had just placed on it.
Chin Hok didn't dare speak from the sidelines. One was his senior brother, and the other was right, so he had better keep his mouth shut.
"All right, martial uncle, if you have nothing to do, go stand to the side. Don't get in my way."
Lin Yu shooed Four Eyes away with disdain.
After completing his apprenticeship, Four Eyes had never applied himself properly. He wasn't skilled in talismans, and his God-Invoking Technique only worked now and then. Just now, the only thing that had helped at all was the bronze skin and iron bones he had cultivated over many years.
While they were chatting, the royal zombie had already begun trying to break out of the formation.
Although a phantom of the eight trigrams appeared out of nowhere and bounced it back every time, it refused to give up.
Watching the zombie inside the formation, Lin Yu held his breath and focused, growing serious.
The formation he had set up couldn't suppress it for long, so he had to end the fight quickly.
He immediately began increasing the flow of spiritual power, devoting all his attention to the formation.
Suddenly, the formation, which had originally only been suppressing the zombie, began to change drastically, filling with a crushing, killing force.
Feeling the intense pressure from the formation, the zombie struggled violently, trying to break free.
This is a multilayered formation I painstakingly set up. How could you possibly break free so easily?
Lin Yu saw through the zombie's intentions and thought disdainfully.
By now, Lin Yu's formation had unleashed its strongest crushing force, which swept toward the zombie.
The only sounds that followed were the zombie's furious roars and noises like metal striking metal.
"A mere bronze-armored corpse is already this hard. How difficult must the levels above it be to deal with?"
Listening to those sounds like clashing metal, Lin Yu was inwardly alarmed. This was the formation he had improved; even the gold coffin with bronze feet over there could have been crushed to pieces inside it.
Yet when dealing with this zombie, the formation met with profound resistance.
Four Eyes and Chin Hok watched Lin Yu worriedly.
The longer a formation lasted, the greater the consumption, especially one this massive.
But they weren't skilled in this field either, so they could only silently watch Lin Yu and stop him in time if he couldn't hold on, to keep his foundation from being damaged.
