Undying Insects: Earning System Points

Jiang He naturally had no idea how much critical damage his casual toss had dealt to the little girl's tender heart.

He took a bottle of previously stored rainwater out of the system space and rinsed the slime off his hands. Only then did he grab the feelers on the Undying Insect's head and drive the bus onward.

These low-level Mutant Beasts that lived in groups all shared one trait: the location of their mother insect could be found through the frequency of the vibrations in their heads!

The stronger the vibrations, the closer their nest was. In his previous life, Jiang He had often used this pattern to avoid places where the insects gathered.

But things were different now. Swarms of Undying Insects might be terrifying to ordinary people, but for someone in a Superpower Sequence, they were merely troublesome to kill!

Following the guidance of the head in his hand, Jiang He soon entered a village.

The village appeared to have a little over a hundred households. A large stone stood at its entrance, bearing the words "Gou Village."

"This should be the place!"

Looking at the human bones scattered across the ground, Jiang He knew he had found the right place!

The bones, covered in gnaw marks, were the markers Undying Insects used to define their territory!

He casually tossed the head with its feelers out the window. Instead of entering the village right away, he took out some food, intending to fill his stomach first!

A fierce battle was sure to come, and going into battle on an empty stomach simply wouldn't do!

He bit into a block of instant noodles and held the bite in his mouth. His eyes happened to fall on the little girl behind him, and when he saw her watching him eagerly, he tossed her three pieces of bread!

He had already decided to give them to her!

But something unexpected had happened last night, delaying him...

Remembering the urgent cries he had heard when he started the bus last night, Jiang He couldn't help sighing...

He hadn't found the person he was looking for, but had impulsively killed her cute daughter instead...

Jiang He ate for a full thirty minutes before he finally felt a little full.

He glanced at the little girl sleeping soundly in her seat, then leaped off the bus. Kicking the Undying Insect's head along before him, he slowly walked deeper into the village.

The sky had completely cleared by now, and the blazing sun baked the earth. Yet Jiang He hadn't seen a single insect along the way...

"Damn it! Without a high-temperature allowance, these beasts won't even come out to work!"

Jiang He muttered under his breath as he kicked the Undying Insect's head away.

At his feet was the entrance to a huge cavern. Densely packed feelers stretched out from within, waving constantly, like elderly security guards holed up in an air-conditioned room, keeping an eye out for strangers...

"First, let me treat you to a feast!"

Seeing how comfortable the insects were, Jiang He gave a strange chuckle, and two barrels of alcohol appeared in his hands.

"I won't have any use for this stuff in the future anyway! I might as well use it to make a feast of charcoal-grilled protein!"

His thoughts wandered, but his movements never paused.

First, he tossed the two barrels of alcohol into the air. Then his dagger flew, chopping each one in half!

Freed from its containers, the alcohol poured down instantly, carrying a powerful alcoholic scent as every last drop fell into the hole in the ground before him!

Almost as soon as the alcohol fell into the cavern, he activated [Flame Jet]!

In an instant, merciless tongues of flame erupted from Jiang He's palm.

The entrance before him was instantly engulfed in flames, and a wave of heat rushed at him like a tide!

The intense heat at the entrance took a full hour to dissipate completely.

After another ten minutes, the system notifications finally stopped, and Jiang He opened the system panel, somewhat excited.

"Not bad! I burned nearly four hundred Undying Insects to death in one go!"

As someone in a Level 2 Superpower Sequence, Jiang He could produce flames that were exceptionally effective against low-level Mutant Beasts like these!

On top of that, the insects were fond of eating grease, and their bodies naturally carried a layer of oil.

Under the control of [Fire Control], the alcohol-laden flames traveled deep into the cavern, setting every Undying Insect along the way ablaze without the slightest effort.

Jiang He had cleared the cavern entrance this time with barely any expenditure of his powers.

Sensing that the cavern had completely cooled, he was just about to jump in when he heard another rustling sound.

Before long, another great wave of Undying Insects had gathered at the entrance.

Clearly, they had discovered the intruder. They squeaked one after another and assumed attacking postures.

There were now even twice as many insects as there had been before he set the cavern ablaze!

As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but a dense mass of feelers, and the sight gave Jiang He goosebumps.

"Fucking disgusting!"

He muttered in distaste, took a few more barrels of alcohol from his space, and repeated the process.

These Undying Insects were all under the Insect Mother's control. Even with their bodies entirely ablaze, they still didn't flee. Instead, they waved their sharp claws and lunged at Jiang He one after another.

Jiang He wasn't flustered in the least. He activated [Fire Control] while rapidly retreating to take cover on a nearby rooftop.

Over that distance, the flames were enough to burn the Undying Insects to death, so he could be said to be completely safe!

As the notifications continued to ring in his head, Jiang He's system points reached 11,152!

They were even continuing to rise!

He did want to collect the insects' corpses to use as fuel for the bus.

But there were simply too many of them, and they were extremely tenacious. They could only be killed by destroying their hearts.

If he chopped them down one by one, even Jiang He, as someone in a Level 2 Superpower Sequence, might not be able to bear the strain.

He understood that enough ants could bite an elephant to death!

Most importantly, once night fell, the Eldritch Horrors hiding in the towns would awaken and all come out to hunt for food.

For his own safety, Jiang He had to kill the Insect Mother before the sun set and avoid the high-level Eldritch Horrors in the towns!

I wonder how many system points the Insect Mother is worth...

Watching his system points continue to rise slowly, Jiang He had already begun imagining himself killing the Insect Mother and getting rich overnight!

When the time came, he would first fuse the Lightning-Struck Wood into the Bloodsucking Dagger!

Then he would upgrade the bus into an RV!

Finally, he would take that little wench Wang Qian and...
