I'm Back
Hannibal had just pulled Abigail out of the FBI building when they found it surrounded by cops, their guns trained on the entrance.
Then Blade suddenly burst through a window and plummeted from the building, slamming heavily into the ground in a superhero landing pose. The cops surrounding the building stared in astonishment, forgetting even to shout warnings or open fire.
Blade said, "I'm going to get my sword!"
But neither of them responded.
Little Black had already come speeding over in a car. "Don't just stand there! Get in!"
The three of them came to their senses, opened the doors, and climbed in. Seeing only three people get in, Little Black looked back and asked, "Where's Xiahou?"
Hannibal said, "Let's go first! Drive!"
Little Black didn't ask any more questions. He floored it and drove straight through a flower bed. The cops wanted to give chase, but it was too late. All they could do was watch the car get farther and farther away. (Don't ask me why nobody fired! Can I say the plot needed it? Or maybe they were too stunned?)
But one person didn't want to let them get away. The burly vampire actually chased after them on foot, drawing closer and closer! Little Black immediately said, "Someone's catching up!"
Abigail looked back, pulled out her bow, and shot an arrow straight into the burly vampire's eye, bursting it and sending him tumbling to the ground.
Seeing her act so violently, the three of them didn't dare speak. They remained silent all the way back to their base.
As soon as they returned, Abigail asked Hedges, who had stayed behind, "Where's Xiahou? Has he come back?"
Hedges was utterly confused. Hadn't Xiahou gone out with them? Even so, he answered, "No! Weren't you together?"
Abigail's heart sank instantly. She turned around and slapped Blade, leaving him completely stunned!
Blade thought, Who am I? Where am I? Why did she hit me?
Abigail accused him, "This is all your fault! Why did you leave on your own just now? You've already gotten my father killed! We went to save you, and now you've gotten Xiahou killed too!"
Blade was even more bewildered. Hannibal explained, "Her name is Abigail Whistler. She's Whistler's daughter. Xiahou was shot many times covering our retreat, but he still stayed behind and kept firing to cover us."
Everyone fell silent. Blade felt a deep sense of guilt and could only say quietly, "I'm sorry!"
But Abigail had no intention of accepting it. "I don't need it!" she said heatedly, then left.
Hannibal said, "Let her be alone for a while. She lost her father and a friend in one day."
No one was in the mood to talk anymore. They each got busy with their own tasks or went back to rest. After all, it was almost dawn, and they had been up all night.
Hedges also said to Blade, "Do you need me to arrange somewhere for you to stay? They're just not in a very good mood."
Blade wasn't feeling too good himself. "Is there somewhere quiet? I think I need some quiet time too."
Hedges said, "Then you can go to the rooftop platform. Hardly anyone goes up there."
"Thanks." Blade headed for the stairs.
Time slipped quietly by, tracing delicate lines across the curtain of night. At last, the eastern sky turned pale, and the horizon gradually took on a bright glow. Day had broken.
Everyone gathered in the hall again and introduced themselves to one another. They also explained the current situation and the need to work together against the vampire progenitor. Because of Xiahou and Whesler, Blade refrained from speaking harshly to them this time.
Just as everyone began discussing their next plan, tiny points of light appeared in the center of the hall and began gathering into a human shape. After one final, blinding flash, Xiahou appeared.
Everyone stared at the sight in shock. Once Abigail saw that it was Xiahou, she rushed over and hugged him.
As soon as Xiahou opened his eyes, he saw Abigail rushing over to hug him. He immediately said, "Hey, beauty, why are you hugging me? Don't tell me you've fallen for me? But we can't be together! I don't date NPCs! Besides, I like gentle girls. You're too violent! You're not right for me!"
Abigail instantly came to her senses and gave him a hard kick. "I don't like you either, so don't flatter yourself! I just didn't expect you to actually come back to life! I was just too excited."
Hannibal spoke up too. "Xiahou, how did you do that? That's so cool! If I had an ability like yours, I could kill all the vampires by myself! I'd wear them down until they died! That's ****ing cool!"
Sommerfield was the only one there who looked completely bewildered. Although she had heard Xiahou's voice, she couldn't see what had happened, so she could only ask, "So what happened? Did Xiahou come back to life? How exactly did he do it?"
Hannibal replied, "It's such a shame you couldn't see it! A bunch of points of light gathered together, and Xiahou just appeared! Like an angel from the Bible! I don't believe in ****ing God, but this was incredible! You know?"
After hearing that, Sommerfield fell into thought. This was more surprising than learning yesterday that she was going to die and that she was a person in a movie. Although Xiahou had said yesterday that he could come back to life, hearing about it and actually experiencing it felt different.
Xiahou spoke up too. "By the way, what are you all doing? Why is everyone here?"
Abigail said, "We're planning how to deal with the vampires and their progenitor. By the way, don't you know the plot? Do you have any good suggestions?"
Xiahou said, "I don't have any particularly good suggestions. Just kill them all. Except for the vampire progenitor-I remember his name was something like Drake, right?"
Hannibal confirmed it. "Right, that's him."
Xiahou said, "I remember he's not afraid of sunlight, and he can come back to life as long as a single drop of his blood remains. In the end, you only managed to kill him with a drug called Daystar, made from his blood. Oh, right, it was when you went to get his blood that you left traces, and that's how they found and attacked your base!"
Hannibal asked, "Then how did we find him?"
Xiahou said, "I think you tortured one of his underlings and found him that way? Anyway, that plot was pretty ridiculous! Just like how you don't use walkie-talkies or anything to communicate!"
Everyone was at a loss for words again, especially Abigail and Hedges. One was the leader, and the other was a weapons expert, yet neither of them had thought of it.
Abigail said, "All right, we get it! Since that method worked for us originally, we just need to do it again. We just have to be more careful this time and make sure our base isn't discovered. Also, don't bring up the walkie-talkies again! (▼皿▼#)"
Xiahou said, "All right, all right! I get it. I won't mention them, okay? Also, I personally suggest moving the noncombatants somewhere else! That way, even if the base is exposed, we won't have to worry about them being in danger!"
Abigail said, "I'll consider it."
Blade still hadn't recovered from the shock. First, a dead man had come back to life before his eyes, and then he had revealed all sorts of things that would happen later. Was he a prophet? How else could he know so much? And he could even come back to life! He was more unbelievable than a half-vampire like Blade!
Seeing that everyone had stopped questioning him and begun thinking about their own concerns, Xiahou silently opened his panel. A notification that a mission had been completed was flashing.
