The Three Discuss Matters
The next morning, Liu Yunan summoned Liao Pantu and Sun Yigao and brought out the scroll.
The three of them read it together.
After reading it, they realized that the emperor really did want to win them over, just as Brother Xiao had thought.
The idea was that they hoped their sect could be like the three major sects now, supporting the court's rule and not interfering too much with the policies and implementation of those policies.
However, the contents of the scroll were very vague, and it did not describe in detail the various conditions and agreements. It only said that it would be best if their sect could send someone to the capital to discuss various matters.
After reading it, Liao Pantu the first to speak. He stroked his beard and hummed softly:
"Let's just take a look at this kind of insincere thing. They'll definitely come back to visit many more times. For now, in my opinion, we should just ignore it."
Upon hearing this, Liu Yunan hesitated:
"Is this alright? That's the emperor, after all."
Before he began cultivating this year, he was just an ordinary village boy in Xiushui Village. The highest official he had ever seen was the village head. Now, hearing that they didn't need to pay attention to a letter personally written by the emperor, Liu Yunan had a very subtle feeling in his heart.
Now, he has met various local tycoons, county magistrates, and prefects, and is still deciding whether to ignore the letter from the reigning emperor.
He secretly glanced at Senior Liao.
So this is what cultivators are like...
This difference is truly a tremendous test of mentality for someone who has just transformed from a mortal into a cultivator.
Sun Yigao to the side, smiled and said:
"Let's not be too obvious. We can focus on stalling. Didn't Yuanjiao send a message saying that the imperial court hadn't informed the three major sects about discovering our sect? Now they've sent another letter like this. We can give them a rough timeframe to deal with it and observe how things develop."
Liu Yunan listened and nodded, saying:
"That makes sense. Let's stall for time. Maybe Brother Xiao will come out of seclusion by then, and we'll see how things go."
Seeing that what they said was similar to what he had thought, Liao Pantu didn't say anything more.
And so the matter was settled.
On the third day, Liu Yunan crouched in the bushes near the village entrance early in the morning.
He figured Wei San wouldn't come when there were many people around, it would be either morning or evening, so he got up very early and came to wait before dawn.
Sure enough, after Liu Yunan had been lying in wait for a short while, he saw Wei San appear at the end of the path.
So he immediately used his Object Control Technique to quietly place a letter on the ground not far ahead, ensuring that Wei San would see it when he came over.
Because the letter was right in the middle of the road, it was hard for Wei San not to see it when he got closer.
However, since it was still dark, Liu Yunan was prepared for the possibility that he might not see it.
If he didn't see it, I'd make him trip and fall face down on the letter; that way, he couldn't possibly miss it.
Fortunately, Wei San had practiced martial arts for many years and had a keen eye for observation, which saved him from a face-first fall.
As he approached, he immediately noticed the letter on the ground, so he bent down and picked it up.
Upon seeing the four elegant characters "To be opened by His Majesty" written on the front of the envelope, he immediately and carefully tucked it into his pocket.
After carefully looking around to make sure no one was there, he quickly left.
Seeing that the letter had been successfully delivered, Liu Yunan walked out of the bushes with satisfaction.
He had assumed that the villagers wouldn't be up yet at this hour, so he strolled leisurely along the village path.
Since taking over the sect's affairs, he has come to truly appreciate how busy Brother Xiao is every day.
However, before he could take two steps, he saw two elderly people at the village entrance greeting each other under the shade of a tree.
It was village chief Du Liushui and Madam Hu head Hu Deli.
During this period, in order to avoid being questioned by the villagers, everyone in the Lingxian Sect has been working from early morning to late at night to the extreme.
If they accidentally bumped into someone from the village, they would try to avoid them.
Tietou and Qin Jianghe even built several more houses near their own house on Returning to the Garden Mountain Dwelling, and the whole family moved up the mountain to cultivate together with everyone.
Jiang Youfu also brought his family to the mountain, but they were only staying there for a short time to avoid the current troubles.
After some time, when everyone got used to the Lingxian Sect, they planned to return to the village.
After all, Grandma Jiang had lived in Xiushui Village her whole life and couldn't bear to part with the home she and Grandpa Jiang had built together, bit by bit.
However, after thinking about it, Liu Yunan did not avoid it as usual, but walked over openly.
Brother Xiao said this before he went into seclusion.
Their clan's future operations in the village would not have been possible without the support of the village elders and the village head.
There are many things that can be done in cooperation with them.
Thinking about the recent development of their Xiushui Village, Liu Yunan soon walked up to the two elderly people.
Upon seeing him, Clan Leader Hu Deli greeted him with a smile:
"Isn't this Liu Household's kid? Has your arm fully recovered?"
Upon hearing Clan Leader Hu's question, Liu Yunan was taken aback before realizing that he was referring to the arm that his uncle had broken.
He then raised his hand and smiled in acknowledgment:
"Thank you for your concern, everything is ready now. Have you two had breakfast yet?"
Village Chief Du nodded and smiled:
"We've eaten, we've eaten. Do you have anything to do now? If not, would you like to chat with us old folks for a bit?"
Upon hearing this, Liu Yunan obediently sat down on the stone stool next to the two elders.
Thinking that he was the younger one, he should start the conversation, so he asked:
How are you both feeling these days?
Village Chief Du smiled, revealing his still-intact teeth despite his age, and replied:
"It's great! Our village is thriving now, and the future looks bright. Just thinking about it makes me happy enough to eat an extra half bowl of rice every day."
As soon as Village Chief Du finished speaking, Clan Leader Hu immediately and tacitly followed up:
"Yes, our village is what it is today all thanks to your sect."
Liu Yunan rarely had the chance to interact alone with such a kind elder, and for a moment he didn't know what to say, so he just chuckled and said:
"We are only able to live like this because of Brother Xiao."
Village Chief Du nodded and remarked:
"Brother Xiao is a good boy, affectionate and filial. Sigh, I still remember when his mother passed away, he was such a little baby, still lying in his father's arms, and he cried as if he knew he had lost his mother, crying until he was tired and fell asleep."
He woke up and nestled silently in his father's arms. Looking closer, it was clear that although he didn't make a sound, tears were streaming down his face.
