Background / History

Lan Hong encountered Xiao Yan in Wutan City during Nalan Yanran’s attempt to break their engagement. A sequence of Earth-specific coded phrases confirmed that Xiao Yan and Lan Hong shared an origin connected to Earth. Xiao Yan was excited by the discovery but remained cautious around the overwhelmingly powerful traveler. 442

Yao Chen later emerged from the ring Xiao Yan wore and admitted that he had absorbed Xiao Yan’s Dou Qi for three years. Lan Hong revealed the Medicine Venerable’s identity and arranged an exchange: Yao Chen would provide alchemical knowledge, while Lan Hong would help him settle his grievance with Han Feng. 443

Lan Hong also exposed the Xiao Family’s connection to the fallen Xiao Clan and warned Xiao Yan that the Hun Clan was targeting the Eight Ancient Clans through the Soul Hall. Xiao Yan resolved to restore his clan and pursue the legendary Dou Di realm, refusing to waste his second chance at life. 443
