Chang'e's Fury Reached Its Peak
So Jiang Zhe dared neither take it nor destroy it.
He had only taken it out for a look this time out of curiosity, and the moonlight had drifted over on its own.
Damn!
Run!
Without the slightest hesitation, Jiang Zhe unleashed his speed as though his life depended on it. Like a streak of fiery red lightning, he plunged toward Mount Hua.
Meanwhile, Chang'e, who had been observing the Weaver Girl Star and the Cowherd Star, immediately looked up.
"A thief!" Without a moment's hesitation, she unleashed her full power and returned to the Moon Palace in an instant.
Yet a sweep of her divine sense revealed no sign of anything amiss.
"Strange. If nothing's missing, what stirred my moonlight Qi?" Chang'e gazed at the osmanthus tree before her, utterly baffled.
Ever since flying to the Moon Palace, Chang'e had become the Moon Star's star palace. She stayed on the Moon Star day and night, and even her body had been imbued with its Qi.
The same went for the things she had been in contact with for a long time.
Whenever they got too far from the Moon Star, it would call out to them.
But just now, a wisp of the Moon Star's moonlight Qi had suddenly split off.
That seemed to mean a thief had stolen something of hers.
But when she returned to the Moon Palace and checked, nothing was missing.
Then why had the moonlight Qi been stirred?
Chang'e turned it over and over in her mind, but she could not make sense of it, so she put the matter behind her.
"Come on, Xiaoyu. I forgot to bring Yang Chan some osmanthus cakes when I went down to the mortal realm this time. Go pick some osmanthus flowers for me." As Chang'e spoke, she crouched down and set the jade rabbit in her arms on the ground.
"Got it, sister." Light flashed around the jade rabbit, and she instantly transformed into a girl in her teens. She bounded toward the osmanthus tree.
Chang'e remained where she was, dazing off for a while before making her way to the Moon Palace courtyard.
Under the moonlight, the enormous palace gleamed with a layer of cold, faint blue light. Chang'e was always its sole inhabitant.
With a thought, she reached into her storage space, intending to take out the ingredients for osmanthus cakes.
But the moment Chang'e's consciousness sank all the way inside, she sensed that something seemed to be missing.
When she realized exactly what it was,
Her eyes went wide, and volcanoes seemed to erupt in her pupils.
"Damn little thief! How... how dare..." Rage had left Chang'e so furious that she could not even speak.
She had never imagined that what had stirred the Moon Star's moonlight Qi was her own...
How on earth had that little thief done it?
Wasn't this her storage space?
How could anything have gone missing?! How could that kind of thing have gone missing?
When she came back to her senses, icy blue Qi swirled around Chang'e.
You'd better hope I don't catch you! If I do, you'll suffer for it.
Chang'e muttered viciously to herself, her eyes brimming with killing intent.
At that very moment, Jiang Zhe wiped the sweat from his forehead in the courtyard in Mount Hua Town. Recalling everything that had happened that night, he swallowed silently.
Everything else aside, it really had been thrilling.
Especially when he had fled at the end. Even fighting Tiger-Taming hadn't felt as tense as that.
The moment the moonlight Qi fell on the silvery-white dudou had nearly scared his soul out of him.
Fortunately, he had put it away at once and unleashed his greatest speed. Otherwise...
He would have been done for right then.
After a sigh, he saw that dawn was nearly upon them. Weaver Girl was sleeping with loud, heavy breaths, just like a little pig.
She was already a fairy and had no need to sleep at all, yet she was curious about everything in the mortal world.
It was rather like a rich, beautiful girl raised in a castle in his previous life. Didn't that make him the yellow-haired punk?
No, no! Cowherd should be the yellow-haired punk!
I should be the police!
After all, he possessed armor rooted in justice.
"Slay demons and eliminate fiends to gain merit!" That was what he needed to do next.
But first, he had to raise his strength.
Otherwise, if he went roaming around the Western Ox Continent and, damn it, caught some Quasi-Saint's attention, things would go badly.
With a thought, a white crystal appeared in his hand.
This was a so-called spirit stone, containing the spiritual Qi needed for cultivation.
It was also the cultivation currency used most often in the mortal realm. Unlike the spiritual Qi in the mortal realm, the spiritual Qi in the Heavenly Court was free of impurities; one could sit cross-legged and absorb it.
The mortal realm, however, contained the turbid Qi of the mortal world, which had to be expelled, slowing the refining process. The spiritual Qi in spirit stones was also free of mortal Qi, aside from being inferior in quality to that of the Heavenly Court, saving the step of refining it away.
Thus, cultivation would be a little faster.
Especially for the Eight-Nine Arcane Arts, which relied primarily on consuming resources.
Powerful as the Eight-Nine Arcane Arts were, the stronger the cultivation art, the more resources it consumed.
Jiang Zhe was even wondering whether he should become a Great Sage of Balancing Accounts like the monkey and help himself to some Peaches of Immortality while he was at it.
Come to think of it, could he use his connection to Weaver Girl to get a taste of a Peach of Immortality?
After indulging in that fantasy for a while, Jiang Zhe began incorporating the resources he had won from the lottery, bit by bit.
Once the Bone Chilling Flame merged with the Flame Dragon Armor, it washed over Jiang Zhe's body once more!
The Qi it contained helped temper his body again and again, making his flesh, already powerful to the extreme from cultivating the Eight-Nine Arcane Arts, a little stronger still.
As the Bone Chilling Flame merged into his body and became an innate ability, Jiang Zhe could feel that his cultivation realm had grown a little stronger as well.
Without further hesitation, Jiang Zhe took out all his spirit stones, opened his mouth, and stuffed them in to chew.
Compared with frail-bodied cultivators, Jiang Zhe, who cultivated the Eight-Nine Arcane Arts, had a body far stronger than theirs.
So compared with holding the stones while cultivating, swallowing and refining them was simpler and more effective.
After swallowing one, he circulated the Eight-Nine Arcane Arts and quickly refined the spiritual power within him, increasing his physical strength and magic power at the same time.
And so Jiang Zhe immersed himself in cultivation, and time slipped by unnoticed.
Compared with ordinary cultivators, Jiang Zhe had an even greater advantage: he was an Innate Living Being, and his innate foundation had been raised almost to its limit. It could be said that he would encounter almost no bottlenecks before reaching the Primordial Unity Golden Immortal realm.
Had this been the primordial era, he would not even have needed to undergo the Three Calamities.
The so-called Three Calamities were merely a rule imposed to reinforce the Heavenly Court's authority.
But it was no great problem. The moment Jiang Zhe finished refining every spirit stone, including the supreme-grade ones,
Jiang Zhe's progress bar had climbed to 57%!
If his estimate was right, the second calamity, the fire calamity, would probably arrive soon.
By the time he had passed the lightning calamity, Jiang Zhe's progress had already reached 26%. After the lightning calamity came the yin fire!
But... he had managed to get through the lightning calamity with the Primordial Chaos Creation Divine Lightning. He should be able to adapt to the yin fire too, right?
