Yu-Gi-Oh!: Starting with a Hellish Deck, Depressing the World
After all, they were known as the legendary tag duelists.
Yet at Duel Academy, they had suffered two crushing losses in a row!
But something the brothers had expected even less soon happened.
"We won! That was a fun duel!" Jaden Yuki said to the Paradox Brothers with an instinctive smile.
"..." The Paradox Brothers were speechless.
Their faces turned liver-red again, as though they had swallowed dead flies.
They remembered the fear of being dominated by someone not long ago.
Now they were absolutely certain: that in-your-face taunting gesture and line were a Duel Academy tradition!
Otherwise, how could this Duel Academy student have said exactly the same thing as that hateful kid in the spectators' area, who was now raising a hand to greet them with a smile and a thoroughly "sunny" expression?
Watching the scene, bald Chancellor Sheppard was so worried that his bald head seemed to grow even balder.
He could already foresee what would happen to Duel Academy's reputation!

Although Jiang He, Alexis, Jaden Yuki and the others had all won their duels against the Paradox Brothers and no longer had to be expelled,
he did not even need to think about how to take back his words and let them stay.
Still, bald Chancellor Sheppard remained deeply troubled. Before the afternoon was over, not long after the Paradox Brothers left, rumors that Duel Academy had a tradition of taunting opponents to their faces after winning had indeed begun to spread outside the academy.
What a disaster!
Bald Chancellor Sheppard cried himself unconscious in the restroom on the spot.
Though he had not dueled Jiang He, Jiang He had still left him depressed.
Jiang He, however, had long since put the matter out of his mind.
After dueling the Paradox Brothers, he continued enjoying his leisurely life at Duel Academy.
That evening, after comfortably washing up, he returned to his private dorm room and happily settled down to sleep.
He also took stock of the day's gains.
[Name: Jiang He] [Skills: Duel Spirit Sight Ability, Mark of the Crimson Dragon: Dragon Head Mark, Top-Tier Clear Mind (once per duel, draw a card that is not currently in the deck but is owned by the user)] [Decks currently owned: One-Turn Kill Exodia the Forbidden One Deck, Lava 597 Golem Deck, Stealth Bird Deck (hellish burn style)] [Emotion Points: 1700]
"Tsk, the Paradox Brothers only gave me 1,700 Emotion Points between them?" Jiang He clicked his tongue, a little dissatisfied.
That fake Shadow Duelist Titan had given him the same 1,700 Emotion Points all by himself last night. These two were legendary tag duelists, after all, and he, the great physician Jiang, had even successfully cured their "condition" of being crooked-mouthed dragon kings.
Now the brothers no longer smiled crookedly.
Yet he had only managed to fleece as much from them as he had from Titan.
Legendary tag duelists, and this was all they amounted to...
Jiang He's lips twitched.
He silently gave them a thumbs-up.
As expected of old dragons and phoenixes among men, mature and dependable.
They had been playing minor roles ever since their encounter with the King of Games, Yugi Muto, and were still the crouching dragon and fledgling phoenix.
They had just changed their title to "legendary extras."
Fortunately, Jiang He could accept 1,700 Emotion Points!
At least it was enough for him to exchange for a new hellish deck from the system. But looking at the options in the system shop, Jiang He once again found himself struggling to decide which one to choose.
[Deck: Vehicroid Deck (Syrus Truesdale version)] 500 points. [Deck: Ojama Deck (hellish version)] 1,500 points. [Deck: Dark HERO Deck (hellish HERO version)] 1,500 points.
He had to admit, all three decks were quite good.
That included the Vehicroid Deck used by Jaden's little brother, Syrus Truesdale.
Although it was not as hellish as the two authentic hellish decks after it, it was still a typically shameless deck.
Syrus Truesdale used it poorly entirely because his own skills fell short.
If Jiang He had plenty of points right now, he would not mind exchanging for one as a backup.
After all, he now had a "card-printing" ability like Top-Tier Clear Mind, so keeping a few more decks in reserve certainly would not be a loss.
They might come in handy at just the right time.
Besides, the Vehicroid Deck only cost 500 points.
That unscrupulous profiteer of a system really was taking a loss.
But when he thought of the two decks after it, Jiang He put aside the idea of exchanging for it right away.
"Looks like I'll have to wait until tomorrow and see if I can farm a few more Emotion Points," Jiang He muttered thoughtfully, rubbing his chin as he looked at the system panel.
The system shop's options would not refresh until after tomorrow anyway.
He could afford to wait and see.
After all, compared with the Vehicroid Deck, the two authentic hellish decks after it were clearly more appealing!
Especially the Dark HERO Deck.
Wasn't it practically tailor-made for when he dueled that hot-blooded idiot Jaden?
With that thought, Jiang He closed the system panel and glanced speechlessly at the noise coming intermittently from next door again.
Then he put in his earplugs with practiced ease and prepared to sleep.
Even the little Sphere Kuriboh lying not far away had somehow prepared two tiny ethereal spirit-wood earplugs and stuffed them into his own ears...
Jiang He's lips twitched at the sight.
Was this little fellow becoming more and more like him, his master?
The night passed without incident.
The next morning, Jiang He yawned in boredom as he finished the same old alchemy class.
He planned to take little Sphere Kuriboh up to the rooftop to bask in the sun.
But he had only just stood up and had not yet had time to leave
when he saw the narrow-eyed Professor Banner at the front of the lecture hall suddenly wave him over with a smile, a cat in his arms.
He also called to Jaden Yuki and the others, who had just woken up nearby.
"Jiang He, Jaden, you two, please wait a moment before you leave. Chancellor Sheppard seems to have something important to discuss and has asked you to go to his office."
"The bald chancellor has something important?" Jiang He was puzzled by the news.
Jaden Yuki, Syrus Truesdale and the others were also surprised, as was Alexis Rhodes, who was sitting farther away in the Obelisk Blue section.
"Huh? Wasn't the matter of us breaking the rules and going to the abandoned dorm already settled? Why does he still want Jiang He and me to go to his office?"
Jaden Yuki voiced his confusion, then looked questioningly at Jiang He.
He wanted to see if Jiang He could guess.
Jiang He simply shook his head. "We'll find out once we go to the chancellor's office together."
He then followed Professor Banner, who had already gone ahead and was waiting at the lecture hall entrance, toward the chancellor's office.
Jaden Yuki, Syrus Truesdale and Chumley exchanged glances, then followed, full of questions.
"Jasmine, Mindy, let's follow them to the chancellor's office and see what's going on."
Looking a little worried, Alexis Rhodes glanced at Jiang He's departing figure, then spoke to her two close friends and followers.

Inside the chancellor's office.
When Jiang He entered, he quickly noticed a familiar figure already standing before the desk, in addition to bald Chancellor Sheppard.
It was none other than Professor Crowler, with his blond mushroom haircut.
"Chancellor Sheppard, I've brought Jiang He and Jaden over," the narrow-eyed Professor Banner said to the bald chancellor as soon as he entered. "Sorry for the trouble, Professor Banner... Huh?"
Bald Chancellor Sheppard had just smiled and thanked him when he looked up and froze.
Besides Jiang He and Jaden Yuki, a whole string of people had come along. Even Alexis Rhodes of Obelisk Blue was there... Bald Chancellor Sheppard could not help staring in bewilderment.
But he quickly recovered and gestured to them with a wry smile. "There's no need to worry. I didn't ask Jiang He and Jaden Yuki here because of what happened at the abandoned dorm."
"Rather, there's a small matter concerning Duel Academy that I need to ask you to help with." "What exactly is it?" Jiang He asked the bald chancellor directly.
He was also wondering to himself.
He can't be asking Jaden Yuki and me to clear up the rumor that taunting opponents to their faces is a Duel Academy tradition, can he?
Jaden Yuki, Syrus Truesdale and the others, along with Alexis Rhodes and her two friends, who had followed a short distance behind Jiang He, also looked at the bald chancellor in confusion.
They waited for him to explain.
"Well, the situation is this: besides our main campus here, Duel Academy also has other schools, such as the North Academy Branch," bald Chancellor Sheppard explained, resting his chin on his hands.
"Duel Academy and North Academy hold a friendly duel once a year. According to our agreement, the winning school receives a mysterious prize, which its chancellor accepts on the school's behalf." "Oh, is it already that time again...?" Alexis Rhodes said, realizing what he meant.
Jiang He's expression, meanwhile, grew strange.
Although the bald chancellor had chosen his words carefully, Jiang He knew what this so-called mysterious prize was... If he remembered correctly, it was a kiss from "Aunt Dorothy," the owner of the school store...
At the thought of Aunt Dorothy's honest-looking, middle-aged appearance and her girth, a full three times Alexis's waist, Jiang He could not help shuddering.
He nearly borrowed the blond mushroom-haired professor's catchphrase.
Mamma mia...
All he could say was that the bald chancellor and the chancellor of the North Academy Branch both had rather strong tastes in their competition for a twilight romance.
"Who represented Duel Academy last year, then?" Jaden Yuki immediately perked up at the mention of a duel and asked the bald chancellor.
"Last year, of course, it was Duel Academy's top student, Obelisk Blue's undisputed number one, Kaiser Zane Truesdale, who represented the school!"
Professor Crowler picked up where the bald chancellor had left off, wagging a finger as he addressed the curious Jaden Yuki, Syrus Truesdale and Chumley.
But when he saw Jiang He, his lips twitched. He hurriedly lowered his hand before continuing.
"However, the representative they are sending here this year will be a first-year student from North Academy. Therefore, to match them, it would be best for Duel Academy to send a first-year as well."
