Just what kind of deck would he bring out to duel Jaden Yuki, the companion he was always hanging around with?
If it contained cards from the three decks he'd already used, then against Jaden Yuki, who had shown enough skill to defeat even Professor Crowler and, with a teammate like Syrus Truesdale dragging him down, successfully defeat the Paradox Brothers as well...
It might not necessarily succeed.

At this rate, Jiang He estimated that his luxurious cabin would be completely finished in just a few more days!
He then went straight back to his room.
As soon as he entered, he faintly heard voices and movement from next door.
"Big bro, you've got to win your duel with Jiang He tomorrow! Avenge me for the painful experience of being one-turn killed by Jiang He three times in a row!" Syrus Truesdale's miserable, aggrieved voice rang out as he cheered Jaden Yuki on.
Clearly, this was the grievance of a victim who had previously been subjected to someone's "laughter"!
"Yeah, I've made several adjustments to my deck, and after spending this whole afternoon preparing, it should be about ready!" Jaden Yuki's excited voice immediately followed.

When he saw Jiang He, Jaden Yuki, and the others arrive after breakfast, Professor Crowler stood in the center of the dueling field and addressed the many Duel Academy students who had been notified beforehand and had already been waiting in the spectator areas around the arena for a while. With a distinct lack of enthusiasm, Crowler introduced Jiang He and Jaden Yuki, who had taken their places on opposite sides of the dueling field and were preparing to duel.
If this step hadn't been mandatory, and Chancellor Sheppard, Professor Banner, Zane Truesdale, and many other students hadn't been watching...
He really wanted to skip it if he could...!
Jiang He, the Slifer Red underachiever boy, was dueling Jaden Yuki, also of Slifer Red, to decide who would represent Duel Academy.
Both were from Slifer Red, the worst dorm.
It was far too much of a slap in the face to him as the head of the Obelisk Blue boys' dorm and the academy's chief instructor of practical dueling...!
And both were guys who had made him lose a great deal of face before, defeating him to gain admission.
Crowler simply couldn't accept it.
But the only first-years he could recommend as competitors to salvage a little of his dignity were Bastion Misawa of Ra Yellow and Chazz Princeton, formerly of Obelisk Blue. Yet those two had already been defeated by Jiang He and Jaden Yuki... Chazz had even dropped out and left Duel Academy some time ago, and now he couldn't be found at all.
"Jiang He, show me your new deck!"
The hot-blooded idiot Jaden Yuki, however, paid no attention to Professor Crowler's little problems and spoke directly to Jiang He, full of enthusiasm.
"Of course. Let me show you the power of my Dark HERO Deck." Jiang He took out the deck he had redeemed from the system yesterday and placed it in his Duel Disk, speaking with the righteous expression of a noble and upright hero.
It was as if he really were using partners of justice. "A HERO Deck?!"
At his words, both Jaden Yuki and the blond mushroom-haired professor across the dueling field...
And Alexis Rhodes and her friends, along with Bastion Misawa, Syrus Truesdale, and a whole crowd of others in the spectator seats, couldn't help showing stunned expressions.
Even someone as poker-faced as Kaiser Zane Truesdale and many ordinary Duel Academy students looked surprised.
Clearly, they had been shocked by the term Jiang He had used!
He was actually using the "same" HERO Deck as Jaden Yuki?! But although they had heard Jiang He say it, Alexis Rhodes, Bastion Misawa, Syrus Truesdale, and the others who knew him felt that something was off, though they didn't know why. No matter how they looked at Jiang He, he hardly seemed like someone who had anything to do with a HERO Deck, did he?
"I don't know exactly what it is, but I'm already looking forward to it!" Jaden Yuki exclaimed excitedly.

He immediately placed the card on his Duel Disk. "I summon [Elemental HERO Bubbleman] in Defense Position!" "Ha!!"
A faint light appeared, and a masked figure resembling Batman emerged on the field before Jaden Yuki. He wore blue clothing and a cape, with a high-pressure water-gun weapon mounted on his arm!

Although his Dark HERO Deck also contained quite a few HERO monsters, it had none like [Elemental HERO Bubbleman], which could draw two cards under certain circumstances but whose effect wasn't underworld enough and whose activation conditions were relatively demanding.
It was a card better suited to a god-draw dog in the first place.

Jaden Yuki laughed, full of fighting spirit, as he deftly revealed three more cards from his hand. "Next, I activate the Spell Card [Polymerization] from my hand to fuse [Elemental HERO Avian] and [Elemental HERO Burstinatrix], which I just drew with Bubbleman's effect!"
"Fusion Summon, [Elemental HERO Flame Wingman]!" "Hah!!"
A yellow, blue, and green vortex of fusion magic lit up, and Avian and Burstinatrix appeared on the field before Jaden Yuki. They leaped into the red, blue, and green fusion vortex above them, which instantly twisted. She had to admit that Jaden Yuki had prepared quite thoroughly for both offense and defense.
He had the high-attack monster with a powerful effect, [Elemental HERO Flame Wingman], for attacking, and [Elemental HERO Bubbleman] for defending.
They could handle quite a few unknown situations.
That was obviously not good news for Jiang He.
"That's not all. Those three set cards should also include a way to deal with Jiang He restricting him with Trap Cards," Kaiser Zane Truesdale and Bastion Misawa, sitting in another row not too far away, said in succession when they heard her.

As Jiang He placed a card on his Duel Disk, a dark glimmer appeared. In an instant, it became a black-haired, blue-faced woman monster clad in pitch-black armor, who appeared on the field before him with a sharp cry!
She then crouched on the enormous horizontal card image that had appeared, crossing her arms in front of her!
