Tang San Takes a Beating (II)
Xiao Wu unleashed a torrent of abuse, her face flushed red with anger, her chest heaving violently.
She had been holding back for a long time. From the moment Tang San used the Crimson Jiang Zhu as a wager, to the increasingly deadly moves he used in the fight, and finally even unleashing this deadly poison weapon, she could no longer restrain herself.
After she finished cursing, she glared fiercely at Tang San, then turned around and tugged at Lin Chen's sleeve, her voice still tinged with anger. "Brother Lin Chen, he's not even competing with you! He's trying to kill you!"
Ning Rongrong stood a few steps away, her face deathly pale.
She stared intently at the blue-glowing poison needles on the ground, her lips trembling. After a long pause, she managed to squeeze out, "Those needles... if they really pricked me... no, Third Brother isn't that kind of person..." She didn't finish her sentence, only letting out a shiver.
Oscar and Ma Hongjun exchanged a glance but ultimately said nothing. Tang San was an indispensable partner and friend to them, and they naturally believed that Tang San would not disregard their safety.
The room fell silent for a few moments.
Lin Chen stood there, calmly observing Tang San, a slight smile playing on his lips. He then pointed to Oscar not far away. "Oscar, get your Recovery Sausage ready, a whole bunch of them."
Oscar paused for a moment, instinctively about to unleash his Soul Skill, habitually replying, "Sure, no big deal..." He abruptly stopped mid-sentence, his hand frozen in mid-air, and looked up blankly. "Wait, why should I prepare Sausage for you?"
"It's not for me," Lin Chen said, "It's for Tang San. He'll definitely need it after we beat him up."
The moment the words left his mouth, a pale blue mark suddenly lit up between Lin Chen's brows, vaguely resembling an ancient eye.
Lin Chen's eyes also lost their original deep black pupils, turning into a clear light blue halo, with tiny starlight slowly swirling in the depths of his eyes.
A strange spatial fluctuation emanated from Lin Chen's body. It wasn't the feeling of Soul Power, but a higher level of power, like moonlight shining through water, silent yet omnipresent.
Tang San felt a chill between his brows, as if something invisible had been branded onto his soul.
He subconsciously touched his forehead, but couldn't feel anything. However, the feeling of being locked on lingered, like a pair of cold eyes in the depths of the night, staring intently at him no matter where he turned.
"Are you ready?" Lin Chen uttered a few words calmly, "Tang San."
The moment he finished speaking, Lin Chen vanished.
Tang San activated his Purple Demon Eye at full power, but he couldn't detect Lin Chen's whereabouts. He could only vaguely sense a barely perceptible fluctuation in the space.
Then the wave reappeared to his left rear, less than a foot away.
Tang San was shocked. Almost instinctively, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track retreat rapidly. But before his feet even touched the ground, a fist slammed into his face.
Bang!
Tang San was sent flying sideways by the punch, half of his face instantly swollen up, his mouth cut open, and blood dripping down his chin.
While he was still in mid-air, before he could even adjust his posture, the fist arrived again.
Lin Chen's Void Shift was almost seamless—one step, one flash, one punch landed; another step, and another kick landed on Tang San's ribs.
Tang San's body was like prey being repeatedly torn apart by a raptor. He took four or five solid blows in succession, and before he could fall to the ground, he was kicked away again.
Purple Demon Eye, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, Mysterious Jade Hand, Crane Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon —he tried his best to block, to dodge, and to counterattack.
But Lin Chen always appeared in his blind spot, and every punch landed precisely in the gap between when his old strength was exhausted and his new strength had not yet been generated. His Purple Demon Eye could sense the approaching attack, but were always half a beat too late.
He was like a mouse being toyed with by a cat, only able to passively take the beatings, unable to even touch the hem of the other's clothes.
What made him even more uneasy was that Lin Chen's fist always carried a ring of tiny Space Rending. Every time he made contact, that tearing force would drill inwards, cutting his meridians painfully, and slowing down the circulation of his Soul Power.
"Why isn't Third Brother fighting back?" Ma Hongjun, watching from the sidelines, was dumbfounded.
"Fight back? Fight back my ass! Can you even see where Lin Chen is?" Oscar's tone was starting to get anxious.
Ning Rongrong's face was anxious. "Then, what should we do? It seems like Third Brother isn't going to make it..."
"Uh, I'd better hurry up and make the Sausage, I Have a Big Sausage!"
Ten breaths.
Twenty breaths.
Tang San was beaten black and blue, his eyes were swollen and dark, and blood from the corner of his mouth flowed down to his chin, mixing with dust and fragments of Blue Silver Grass, covering his face.
His clothes were torn to shreds by the spatial cracks around Lin Chen, and fine bloodstains crisscrossed his skin.
He made his final attempt to condense Blue Silver Grass. The grass had barely sprouted an inch above the ground when he was struck in the back by an elbow strike. He fell to the ground, rolled twice, and lay there unable to get up.
Lin Chen's final strike did not land. He stopped his punch, took two steps back, and the aftershocks of the tearing void around him silently severed several strands of Blue Silver Grass beside Tang San, causing the leaves to flutter down to the ground.
Tang San lay on the ground, panting heavily, his bruised and swollen face a pitiful sight that made everyone hesitant to look at him.
He struggled to stand up, but he had no strength left in his limbs.
The area outside was eerily quiet.
Tai Long's mouth was agape, and he was stunned for a long time.
Tai Nuo gasped, his voice slightly hoarse. "Young Master Lin... you're really angry." Lin Chen's final series of Void Shift attacks had made even a Soul King like him feel his scalp tingle—it had gone beyond the scope of what a Soul Ancestor should be capable of.
Ma Hongjun shrank his neck, barely daring to breathe. Remembering how he had acted arrogantly in front of Jiang Zhu, a cold sweat soaked his clothes. He never wanted to take another step near this guy named Lin Chen in his entire life.
Lin Chen raised his hand, and the light from his Void Divine Eye slowly faded as he gazed at Tang San, who was lying on the ground unable to get up.
He muttered to himself, "Looks like you don't have the Eight Spider Lances, and you don't even dare to use the Clear Sky Hammer. What are you pretending for?"
"I've already said, Tang San," Lin Chen said calmly, "Today's sparring match is just me seeking justice for my brother."
Tang San tried to prop himself up again, but his arms trembled and he fell back down once more—his Soul Power was nearly exhausted, and he didn't even have the strength to sit up.
He knew perfectly well in his heart that he had lost this battle.
He was utterly defeated and unwilling to accept it. He still had some trump cards he hadn't used, but no matter how unwilling he was, it was too late to turn the tide.
"I lost this sparring match." Tang San's voice was hoarse, as if each word was squeezed out from his throat.
"Xiao San!" Oscar came running over, carrying several Big Sausage. "Recovery Big Sausage! Eat up, eat up!"
He stuffed the Sausage into Tang San's hand, and Tang San didn't mind, taking it and taking a big bite.
The rich medicinal power slid down my throat, warming me and slightly restoring my weary Soul Power.
