Personality

Xie Yue is quiet and reserved. He says nothing throughout his first meeting with Ning Buhui, instead observing him and reassessing him before leaving. His restraint extends to praise and gratitude: he gives Ning Buhui a practical birthday gift with few words and later acknowledges the boy’s help without an elaborate declaration 6 23 42.

He trains fiercely and treats preparation seriously. Before the Mist Swamp Forest mission, he consults local hunters, checks the wind direction, and plans an approach from downwind. After the battle, he openly admits that allowing the lesser wolves to distract him nearly left Ning Buhui unprotected 11 36 39.

His composure does not prevent him from taking risks for his teammates. When a twenty-five-thousand-year female Jasper Flood Dragon appears, he intercepts her despite knowing that his level-forty-three strength is insufficient for a direct confrontation 61.

History

Early Friendship with Ning Buhui

Xie Yue meets Ning Buhui shortly after Bibi Dong accepts the younger boy as her disciple. On Ning Buhui’s seventh birthday, he gives him a forearm-length short blade sized for a child’s hand 6 23.

Their training relationship develops when Ning Buhui supports Yan in a spar against him. Xie Yue recognizes that the timely defenses and called-out openings come from Ning Buhui rather than Yan. After testing Ning Buhui directly, he praises his ability and proposes that they spar together more often 24.

Mist-Hidden Shadow Wolf Mission

After hearing about Ning Buhui’s experiences outside Spirit City and seeing his External Soul Bone, Xie Yue supports allowing him to join the group’s missions. He helps plan their grade-B hunt for the Mist-Hidden Shadow Wolves and agrees to follow Ning Buhui’s signal when drawing out the alpha 34 35 36.

During the hunt, Xie Yue fights two younger wolves before regrouping against the alpha. Ning Buhui’s Static Counterattack briefly halts the alpha’s assault, giving him the opening to strike with Shattered Moon Impact and finish it with a blade thrust. He then harvests the required materials 38.

He rejects the alpha’s nearly five-thousand-year Soul Ring because its wind and poison attributes do not suit his Moon Blades and its age falls below his intended fourth-ring standard. On the return journey, he acknowledges his mistakes and proposes attempting an easier grade-A mission once he obtains his Fourth Soul Ring 38 39.

Fourth Soul Ring Hunt

Rather than adding another straightforward killing attack, Xie Yue wants his fourth skill to confuse enemies and create openings. Ning Buhui recommends a ten-thousand-year Illusory Moon Shadow Wolf and prepares research on its habits, hunting conditions, and Crescent Moon Valley’s terrain 42 43.

Xie Yue departs with a Soul Douluo elder and two Agility Attack System Soul Saints. By Ning Buhui’s return nearly a year later, he has reached level forty-three and obtained his ten-thousand-year Fourth Soul Ring 43 55.

Jasper Flood Dragon Mission

Xie Yue selects an A-rank mission targeting a twenty-thousand-year Jasper Flood Dragon. The hunt becomes an ambush when a stronger female appears. He intercepts her, but her venom and strength force him into an increasingly desperate defensive battle 58 61.

Ning Buhui reveals his concealed control abilities to save the group. With the dragons restrained and weakened, Xie Yue uses Moon Shadow Clone to create openings and ultimately kills the female. Afterward, he reviews his clone technique and accepts Ning Buhui’s explanation for hiding his abilities 62 63 64.

Tournament Team

Xie Yue initially declines to enter the approaching Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. During Ning Buhui’s later disappearance, he reasons that Bibi Dong’s failure to send search parties means she believes Ning Buhui is safe 64 71.

Over the following years, repeated missions make the four friends’ coordination increasingly seamless. After reaching level fifty-five, Xie Yue watches Spirit Hall Academy’s selection tournament and becomes one of the Spirit Hall Team’s main members. When Ning Buhui and Yan settle the other members’ leadership challenge, he immediately calls for group training to begin 84 85 94 95.
