Background / History

Awakening and Academy Enrollment

Long Tian grew up in Starfall Town, where his father, Long Tieshan, worked as a blacksmith. Before his awakening, he repeatedly dreamed of a golden dragon and a black dragon confronting one another before becoming intertwined light. His awakening produced twin dragon Martial Souls and innate full Soul Power, but Lin Feng warned that their opposing attributes made systematic Soul Power training essential 1.

An early attempt to bring the powers together caused severe pain. Long Tian subsequently learned to summon them into separate hands, while his father secured a recommendation to Bluestone Town Junior Soul Master Academy. Mr. Wang placed him in Class C and explicitly forbade fusion until he could stabilize each power independently 2 3.

Spirit Hall’s interest began almost immediately. Trainee deacon Qin Feng approached him at breakfast to test his aptitude, prompting Mr. Wang to intervene. Long Tian’s later victory over Chen Hao, achieved without a Soul Ring, led to a report recommending close monitoring and eventual contact 3 5.

Tournaments and His Father’s Past

Through regular cultivation and Mr. Wang’s private instruction, Long Tian developed practical control over his twin powers. Lin Mo then delivered a jade pendant from Long Tieshan and revealed that his father had once been a powerful Iron Guard Soul Master before concealing his identity in Starfall Town 6 10.

At an exchange gathering in Spirit City, Long Tian briefly fused light and darkness to overcome an Ironback Turtle’s defense, but later lost to Lu Chuan’s Dark Iron Heavy Sword. Afterward, Mr. Wang brought him to Old Chen’s Blacksmith Shop. Old Chen recognized him as Long Tieshan’s son and entrusted him with an iron token connected to his father’s past 14 15 16.

Long Tian eventually reunited with his father in Spirit City. With three rings and stronger meridians, he received guidance on gradually opening the gates within his rings to seek a controlled balance between light and darkness. He later used a brief, unstable fusion burst to defeat Murong Qing and won the age-group tournament final against Zhang Yueming 23 24 26 28.

Yu Jin’s Rescue and the Fusion Experiments

While investigating an underground chamber with Chen Hao, Long Tian found a caged child designated Test Subject Number Seventeen. He melted through the bars with his Power of Chaos, wrapped the weakened child in his coat, and carried him to safety. The child identified himself as Yu Jin and explained that his captors intended to use him to test the Fusion Technique 37 38.

Long Tian visited Yu Jin during his recovery while maintaining his academy routine. Their powers proved naturally compatible: joined-palm circulation strengthened the Origin Return Pearl, stabilized Yu Jin’s Martial Soul, and made their combined presence harder to track. When signs of investigation appeared at the escape route, Long Tian moved Yu Jin to a deserted earth god temple 39 41.

Working with Yu Jin, Mu Shuang, and Shen Mo, Long Tian investigated the processing of live experimental subjects. During one infiltration, he discovered Long Tieshan imprisoned in a cage and helped free him. A subsequent rescue operation converged with Shen Mo’s attempt to release his brother Shen Qiu; their escape ended in a confrontation with Meng Changyuan outside the city wall 49 50 52 53.

Long Tieshan explained that Meng Changyuan had spent nearly a decade pursuing a self-growing Composite Martial Soul, progressing from prisoner experiments to attempts to replicate the Origin of Chaos. Long Tian and Yu Jin had become natural comparison samples for that research 54.

The Dragon Shadow

After reaching six rings, Long Tian tested his increasingly complete fused Martial Soul form. The dragon shadow could split rock, pursue Yu Jin under mental direction, and remain linked to the Origin Return Pearl outside his body. Long Tieshan attributed that connection to the rings’ integration with Long Tian’s own origin 62.

Further refinement produced a solid, winged, two-headed shadow that could hover independently and eventually remain present without deliberate maintenance. Long Tian also returned to Bluestone Town’s academy, reuniting with Mr. Wang, Zhao Xiaopang, and Chen Hao and revealing that he now possessed six rings 68 72 74 77.

Tang San later visited to discuss the persistent silhouette and compare their experiences with twin Martial Souls. Long Tian suggested that maintaining both Martial Souls in rhythm might require less energy than Tang San expected 85.

East Sea and Great Abyss Investigations

A Sea Clan letter reported that dragon patterns in an ancient sea cave had begun glowing and resembled Long Tian’s shadow. Long Tian and Yu Jin traveled to the East Sea, where a distant island caused the mark on the shadow’s forehead to shine 81.

Their investigation expanded through sea charts, voyage records, and underwater ruins. Tang San connected the chart’s endpoint to accounts of strange waters, while Long Tian and Yu Jin opened a sealed underwater door by sending Qi through grooves from opposite sides. Beyond it lay a route map whose paths converged on a symbol matching a dark gray pearl 92 101.

Shen Mo supplied another clue through a hidden diagram marked “Moon Tide.” After Long Tian returned from the Great Abyss, Tang San identified an encountered stone slab as a functioning seal and advised fitting Yu Jin’s orb into its interface 106 113.

Later research connected an underwater dragon skeleton’s marker disc to resonance with a Martial Soul of the same origin. Long Tian used a continuous emanation from the Origin Return Pearl to open a layered water-membrane seal and entered a chamber containing a polished, silver-coated stone disc 119 124.

Further exploration used the dark gray pearl to open a fitted wall projection and the Origin Return Pearl’s Qi to activate a submerged circular marker. He subsequently opened another concealed door with the imperial seal’s Qi. After Shen Mo reported changes in coastal observation posts, Long Tian returned by boat to inspect the long wall and the light core’s projection 133 139 148.

Patrol Evasion and Old Records

As a Spirit Hall patrol approached Bluestone Town, Tang San erased Long Tian’s alias from academy records and arranged a tailor’s apprentice cover. Long Tian completed registration at Zhou’s tailor shop before leaving through an alley as the patrol questioned residents nearby 152.

When inspectors obtained a list of academy-linked aliases, Mr. Wang asked Long Tian to secure copies of relevant pages from a retired Spirit Hall Branch archivist’s index and temporarily relocate the original. Long Tian and Yu Jin reached the archivist, who admitted them after hearing Long Tieshan’s name and produced an old ledger 159 160.

Appearance

Long Tian is introduced as a sturdy, lively-looking six-year-old, slightly taller than other children his age, with thick brows, large eyes, and a straight nose 1.

  • Clothing: Wears a plain, old blue-cloth shirt during the age-group tournament, contrasting with the other contestants’ new uniforms 26.
  • Dragon scales: Initially manifests golden scales on his right hand and black scales on his left; later transformations produce scales along his spine 2 63.
  • Fused coloration: His developed power leaves a gray-gold undertone beneath his palm lines and along his back 62 92.
  • Dragon Shadow: A gray-gold, two-headed form with four eyes, wing membranes, and a closed vertical forehead mark 66 74.

Personality

Long Tian is stubbornly determined to master both dragons rather than accept their incompatibility. Even after an early fusion attempt hurts him, he continues experimenting, first by separating the powers and later by seeking controlled integration. His persistence is matched by a disciplined routine of early meditation, theory lessons, and private practice 1 2 5 6.

He treats stronger opponents as goals rather than causes for resentment. After losing to Lu Chuan, he accepts the result and resolves to try again; Lei Jingyun’s greater strength inspires ambition rather than jealousy. He also adapts his tactics to known threats, avoiding ranged attacks when facing Zhang Yueming’s reflective mirror 14 15 28.

His loyalty is expressed through practical care. He offers to help Zhao Xiaopang with academic work, protects Yu Jin during his rescue and recovery, and remains deeply attached to his parents. After freeing his father, he asks Long Tieshan to teach him ironworking once their troubles are over 9 38 39 51.

Abilities & Skills

Twin Sacred Dragon Martial Souls

The Radiant Sacred Dragon and Shadow Sacred Dragon provide contrasting light and dark attributes 2 3.

  • Light Dragon Power: Produces searing heat, forceful palm strikes, golden scales, and light projectiles 2 5 9.
  • Shadow Dragon Power: Carries cold and corrosion, supports concealment, and can manifest defensive scales without a conscious command 2 5 32.
  • Early limitation: Directly forcing the powers together causes pain and risks a destructive internal clash 1 2.
  • Controlled development: Separate circulation, Soul Ring bridges, and gradual gate-opening allow increasingly stable fusion 5 9 24.

Yin-Yang Rotation

His First Soul Skill channels both attributes through a black-and-white ring and can divide its output into light and shadow effects 9.

  • Light Bullet: Fires golden projectiles; later practice allows three mid-flight turns and repeated accurate hits on a target thirty paces away 18.
  • Shadow Stealth: Travels close to the ground or across water, interferes with footing, and can numb or freeze an opponent’s feet 14 18 19.
  • Combined attacks: Can send the two attributes toward separate targets or coordinate shadow restraint with light strikes 9 19.
  • Limits: Early Light Bullets cannot reliably penetrate heavy defensive Martial Souls, while Soul Power shielding can block Shadow Stealth’s approach 14 15.

Yin-Yang Twin Wings

His Second Soul Skill manifests a golden right wing and a black left wing, each extending more than a zhang 19.

  • Provides low-altitude flight, gliding, evasive bursts, and diving attacks 19.
  • The right wing releases golden wing blades; the left condenses shadows into a shield 19.
  • After half a month of practice, he can remain in low flight for more than ten breaths while accurately firing at targets 19.
  • Initial attempts to attack while gliding disrupt his balance; a powerful three-ring attack still forces him into an emergency escape 19.

Yin-Yang Body Protection

His Third Soul Skill forms a thin chaotic-light membrane that dissipates incoming force without significantly restricting movement 21 22.

  • Withstands repeated broom strikes and Chen Hao’s punch at thirty percent Soul Power with little pressure reaching his body 22.
  • Can remain active during flight and protect him through a high-speed landing 22.
  • Disperses a Fire Lizard Soul Master’s flames without scorching his clothes 26.

Origin Return Pearl and Power of Chaos

The Origin Return Pearl occupies the center of his ring array and supports the circulation and fusion of light and darkness 37.

  • Chaotic output: Combines heat and corrosion to melt cage bars; burning through two thick bars takes roughly the time needed to brew a pot of tea 38.
  • Detection evasion: Spreads a thin chaotic film over his circulating Soul Power during infiltration 37.
  • Burst circulation: Opening all four ring gates briefly more than doubles circulation speed, but leaves his meridians sore 37.
  • Core refinement: The new core receives returning Qi and releases it in a denser form 70.
  • Seal interaction: Sustained, even output opens a same-origin water-membrane seal layer by layer rather than tearing it apart 124.

Dragon Shadow

The Sixth Soul Skill expresses a more complete fused Martial Soul state rather than a single discrete attack 62.

  • Coordinated offense: Follows his movements and can combine its attacks with his own; an early strike cleanly splits a rock 62.
  • Mental control: Can pursue a target independently. Its initially tested control remains stable within about twelve zhang before the connection weakens 62.
  • Defense: Deflects Yu Jin’s full-force strike without residual force reaching Long Tian 74.
  • Persistence: Eventually continues existing without deliberate maintenance and can be subdued close to his spine for travel 77 92.
  • Navigation and resonance: Indicates underwater upwellings and reacts to sea locations and dragon-linked structures 81 94 119.
  • Forehead mark: Remains closed during documented later tests, though light and warmth circulate around it 74 119.

Harmonization with Yu Jin

Their powers blend without the resistance that initially characterized Long Tian’s internal light-dark conflict 41.

  • Joined-palm circulation strengthens the Origin Return Pearl, nourishes Long Tian’s meridians, and stabilizes Yu Jin’s Martial Soul 41.
  • Their merged presence can confuse tracking techniques 41.
  • They combine their powers into a protective halo when confronted by Meng Changyuan 53.

Stealth and Investigation

  • Uses Shadow Dragon Power to hide in dense shadows and avoid a patrolling guard 32.
  • Plans infiltration routes, checks equipment, and coordinates entry and retreat roles with allies 52 53.
  • Deduces the location intended by Shen Mo’s cryptic “Meet old friend, pond” message 106.
  • Cross-references maps, tide records, marker patterns, and ancient characters to locate and open underwater structures 101 119 133.

Equipment / Items

  • Dark green jade pendant: Delivered by Lin Mo on Long Tieshan’s behalf; bears the character “Tian” in his father’s handwriting and becomes a source of reassurance 10 11.
  • Protective charm: Sewn by his mother and kept against his chest alongside the pendant 3 10.
  • Gray iron Iron Guard token: Entrusted to him through Old Chen; bears a sword-and-star emblem and helps establish his connection to Long Tieshan 15 48 69.
  • Gray metal ring: Worn on his left ring finger; used to suppress a Soul Power detection wire during infiltration 49 51.
  • Bronze mirror and bronze-colored fragment: Investigative objects collected or carried during his inquiries into the underground facilities 37 41.
  • Maps and records: Carries diagrams, a silk map, tidal records, fish-skin paper, and Shen Mo’s notes during the maritime investigation 113 119 148.
  • Infiltration kit: Includes a keycard, thin blade, fire starter, and rope 53.
