Background and History

Long Tian named the bead the Origin Return Pearl while monitoring its growth after his nightly tempering. His handwritten reference did not explain it; he suspected that the missing end of his father’s drawings might have contained relevant information, but this remained unconfirmed 36.

Its first documented infiltration use was Long Tian’s rescue of Number Seventeen, later known as Yu Jin. Long Tian coated his Soul Power in the pearl’s chaos Qi and passed through an underground gate’s five-ring restriction while possessing only four rings 37. Yu Jin subsequently recognized its presence as the same light he had sensed beneath a gray river in his dreams. This led Long Tian to suspect a shared source between Yu Jin and something within himself, rather than establishing a confirmed origin 39 40.

The rescue also left exploitable traces. Meng Changyuan’s researchers collected residual pearl Qi and reverse-engineered it through an array for Return to One, a project aimed at replicating the Origin of Chaos 46. Long Tian later used the pearl during the infiltration of the Iron Guard camp and the removal of the Reverse Fusion Device’s crystal 57.

During the maritime exploration, the pearl became an interface for buried discs, underwater passages, maps, and structures associated with the Dragon Bone Marker Disc. These discoveries led to the absorption of the Imperial Seal projection and the eventual synchronization with the Light Core 89 114 125 135 150.

Appearance

The pearl begins as a gray bead and develops a warmer, more luminous appearance as Long Tian refines it 36 37.

• Size: Broad-bean-sized when first described, walnut-sized after the fourth ring, and larger through subsequent cultivation 36 37 47.
• Surface: Initially bears a soft gray-white halo; pale-gold crackle lines later spread across it 36 37 45.

The pearl can coat Long Tian’s Soul Power in an extremely thin film of chaos light 37.

• Attribute-based evasion: Long Tian reasons that the five-ring restriction cannot properly identify the pearl’s previously unrecorded chaos attribute; the coating successfully allows him through 37.
• Suppressed fluctuations: Maintains a faint bodily film that minimizes his Soul Power fluctuations during infiltration 57.
• Shared concealment: His merged presence with Yu Jin can confuse tracking techniques and help conceal Yu Jin’s Martial Soul 41.
• Trace limitation: Concealment does not prevent residual chaos Qi from being collected and analyzed 42 46.
• Keycard operation: Powers the stolen Iron Guard card to open a level-six restriction. This requires the card rather than demonstrating a direct bypass of that barrier 52 57.

Soul Ring Integration and Qi Refinement

The pearl serves as a central junction for Long Tian’s Soul Rings and fused light-dark power 37 47.

• Accelerated integration: Guides the fifth ring into the array and meshes its markings with those of the existing rings 47.
• Temporary circulation boost: A four-ring test more than doubles Soul Power circulation speed for a few breaths, but leaves soreness in the meridian walls 37.
• Internal ring formation: Provides the site where light and dark Qi recombine to create the sixth Soul Ring 61.
• Denser returning Qi: Once formed, the new core receives power routed through the pearl, refines it, and releases it into Long Tian’s meridians 70 71.

• Parallel operation: Later tests show Dragon Shadow functioning alongside Long Tian’s first and third Soul Skills without interference 64.

The pearl’s Qi can heat and process materials containing light and dark attributes 61.

• Ore assessment: Senses the uneven distribution of light and darkness within Ore Core Stones 61.
• Heating and fusion: Roasts the stones for powder, which Long Tian combines with residual crystal light 61.
• Recrystallization: Contact with the pearl draws the resulting slurry into a smooth dark-gray pearl intended for Yu Jin 61.
