Selina walked half a step behind Kexi, her expression returning to its usual capable and efficient state, with even a perfectly measured curve at the corners of her mouth, showing no trace of sadness.

But she knew that the string in her heart was about to snap.

"It won't happen again."

She went over those words in her mind again.

That's so well said.

His voice didn't even tremble when he spoke; it was as steady as if he were reporting on work progress.

Kexi must have thought that she had listened, understood, and that the matter was over.

Turn the page my ass.

As Selina walked, she stared at the back of Kexi's head, her gaze lingering on the exposed skin on the back of his neck.

The thought that had been suppressed in her mind grew wildly like weeds, impossible to extinguish no matter how hard she tried.

He just said, "You're different from them," and that "this is a superior-subordinate relationship."

Okay, superiors and subordinates.

She was his secretary, his tool, and the person he could call upon whenever he needed her.

That way I can stay by his side, see him every day, and hear him shout "the Sai!"

Her fingers slowly clenched.

That's settled then. I'll be a good secretary, handling every task he assigns perfectly, making him inseparable from me, and making her a habit for him.

Habits are more reliable than liking; liking can change, but habits won't.

She wanted to make him unable to break the habit.

Selina's mind was racing with plans.

From then on, whenever he was thirsty, she would hand him water without him having to ask.

From now on, when he's tired, she'll know where to move the chair without him saying a word.

From then on, whenever he was chased by those women, she would position herself in advance to keep out anyone who shouldn't have gotten close.

She wanted to make him completely forget how he would live without her.

When that time comes, if he mentions "superior-subordinate relationship" again, she'll just smile to herself and not argue.

What she says doesn't matter; what Selina wants is never something she expresses verbally.

Kexi walked ahead, then suddenly turned back and glanced at her. "Selina, you don't look well. Were you tired just now?"

Selina looked up, a gentle smile on her face. "No, young master. I was thinking about meeting with Baizhi."

"Okay, fine. You can arrange it."

"Yes."

Kexi turned back and continued walking forward.

Selina followed behind him, her smile remaining perfectly still.

She suppressed the wildly growing thought in her mind, pressing it down firmly, without revealing it on the surface.

She wanted to be the most useful woman by the young master's side, a woman he could never live without.

As long as... as long as I can stay by his side...

She still has a chance.

One day, the young master's gaze will surely fall upon her, and he will understand that she is fundamentally different from those other women.

A stunning transition.

Zani was sprawled on the sofa in Carlotta's office, her legs propped up on the armrests, clutching a glass of juice she'd somehow gotten her hands on, the straw flattened from her teeth.

She stared at the ceiling, muttering to herself.

"Second Miss, my vacation isn't over yet. My injury hasn't even fully healed, and you dragged me out of bed with just one call. Didn't you say you'd give me a week off? It's only been a few days!"

Carlotta sat behind her desk, not even looking up, her pen scribbling on the documents. "Zani, you are Montelli's best employee and my most trusted assistant. I only feel at ease when you handle many things. I... can't do without you."

Zani's straw fell into the cup with a gurgling sound, "... Ahem, Miss, don't say that."

"I'm serious."

Zani opened her mouth, put her cup on the coffee table, and changed the subject. "Okay, okay, let's not talk about that. What did you call me here for? You didn't just want me to lie around in your office, did you?"

Just as Carlotta was about to speak, the office door was suddenly pushed open.

A Montelli messenger rushed in, his face pale, leaning against the doorframe, panting heavily.

"Oh no! Second Miss! Everard Vault has been broken into!"

Carlot suddenly raised her head, her eyes like knives.

Who has such audacity?

"The intruder claims to be Scar the Fractsidus! He... he suddenly appeared in the vault."

Carlotta slammed her hand on the table and stood up. "The Fractsidus? It's the Fractsidus Fractsidus. Damn it, have they caught them yet?"

The messenger shrank back, "No... no. That guy was too powerful. The Echo guards in the vault were no match for him. Dozens of Echo were all taken down by him like chopping vegetables. He couldn't stop them."

Carlotta's brow was furrowed so deeply it could trap a fly.

She turned and walked to the terminal screen on the wall, quickly tapping a few times to bring up the security footage of the vault.

A live video feed pops up on the screen.

A two-meter-tall, muscular man wearing a white stocking over his head stood in the middle of the vault, surrounded by Echo.

The long sword in his hand gleamed with a dark red light as he waved to Echo, who was rushing towards him from off-camera.

Even though she couldn't see his face clearly, Carlotta felt a strange sense of familiarity with his posture and mannerisms.

"This guy..." She stared at the screen and decisively ordered, "Notify Matteo to activate the Overlord Class guardian Hetero Armament of the vault. I want him alive. I want to see what this Scar really looks like."

The messenger acknowledged the order and left.

Carlotta turned back to the screen and continued watching the monitor.

The "Scar" character in the video slashed down two more Echo with swift and ruthless movements. While fighting, he muttered something, though the sound was inaudible, his lip movements suggested he was counting.

The scene changed shortly afterward.

The "Scar" suddenly stopped, looked up at the ceiling, and snapped his fingers.

Immediately afterwards, the wall outside the warehouse cracked, and a huge red and black figure squeezed in through the breach.

The five-meter-tall mech crouched down and crawled in, its shark-like head lowered, and two eyelights glowed a dark red light.

The "Scar" creature leaped into the air, the hatch opened and swallowed it, the mech stood up, summoned a halberd in its hand, and with a single blow pierced through the ceiling, the thrusters went full throttle, and it soared into the sky.

Carlotta's pupils contracted.

She stared at the mecha on the screen, completely frozen in place.

She had seen that color, that shape, that shark head before.

She saw it with her own eyes.

On the day of the ceremony, when Kexi was being chased and attacked by everyone, he stood in the middle, snapped his fingers, and shouted something. Then, the red and black mecha emerged from the ground, swallowed him, and soared into the sky.

Zani sat up from the sofa, and seeing that Carlotta hadn't spoken for a while, she leaned over and glanced at the screen. "Second Miss? What's wrong?"

Zani was staying home on holiday that day and didn't know what had happened; she only heard the gist of it.

Carlotta pointed to the mech on the screen that was breaking through the vault ceiling, her voice a little dry. "This mech... is the Kexi summoned when she escaped that day."

Zani's mind raced for a couple of seconds, then her eyes widened in surprise.

"What?! Second Miss, that's Young Master Kexi?"

"There's no mistake. I saw him get in and drive it away with my own eyes that day."

Zani stood to the side, her expression shifting from shock to silence, and then from silence to an extremely complex and conflicted look.

She scratched the back of her head, her lips moving as if a battle was raging within her.

After several seconds, she took a deep breath, clenched her fist, and her voice became deep.

"Second Miss, the situation is urgent. Let's kill the traitor, Young Master Kexi!"
