A figure flashed by.

Selina kicked the rope in the middle, forcing Lupa go.

Kexi scrambled forward, shouting, "Selina, if you stop them, your salary this month will double! No, ten times!"

Since it was Carlotta was paying, he felt no pressure at all when he shouted.

Selina stood blocking the alleyway, arms outstretched, her expression calm yet resolute.

Facing the three menacing women, she showed no fear. "I'm sorry, you can't go over there for now."

Money doesn't matter to her.

Her main responsibility was to protect the commander.

No, protect Kexi, protect the young master, protect our benefactor.

Even if what he did was immoral in her eyes.

Love is a silent guardian.

Juno didn't even bother with a word, and simply raised his hand and made a sweeping motion in the air.

A silvery-white moon appeared out of thin air. She flipped over and sat on it. The moon hummed and carried her into the sky, over Selina's head, chasing after the direction Kexi had fled.

"Don't run!"

Lupa went even further, standing still and planting the flag she was holding into the ground.

Flames exploded beneath her feet, crimson Resonance Energy enveloping her entire body. Her form shifted amidst the flames, and a gigantic fire wolf leaped from the inferno, its four paws shattering the ground before disappearing into the alleyway in a single bound.

Only Augusta stood there, staring blankly at Juno who had flown away, then at Lupa who had turned into a fire wolf and disappeared, and then at his own empty-handed state. He opened his mouth, but in the end, he could only stomp his foot in anger.

There was no other way; after all, her Resonance Ability was mediocre, so she could only choose to... fight it out.

This was the first time Augusta had ever hated her mediocre abilities so much.

On the other side.

Kexi ran off without looking back.

He felt he had never run at such speed in his entire life; his legs were practically blurring out of focus.

The wind behind him grew fainter and fainter, and he figured he had shaken them off. He turned into a quiet alley, leaned against the wall, and gasped for breath, his face full of relief at surviving the ordeal.

"Phew... Phew... Finally... I've shaken them off..."

Who to shake off?

A beam of silvery-white light fell from overhead and struck the ground, causing the windows on both sides of the street to vibrate.

As the smoke cleared, Juno jumped down from the moon, a sweet smile on her face that sent chills down one's spine. She pulled out a small knife from somewhere and twirled it in her hand.

Kexi's back was instantly soaked with cold sweat.

He took two steps back, his lower back hitting a wall. A dead end.

"Juno, let's talk this out. Fighting and killing only hurts our feelings."

Kexi raised her hands, forcing a smile, trying to appease the murderous god in front of her with the most harmless expression.

Juno took two steps forward, her eyes crinkling into crescents, her voice sickeningly sweet. "Oh? Pretty impressive, knowing my name the first time we met. What? Weren't you quite bold when you wrote the letter? Why are you chickening out now?"

With such a large crescent moon and those blue twin ponytails, it's hard not to recognize her.

"I was wrong, I confess, I will be lenient."

Kexi raised his hands in surrender.

"But could you please put the knife away first? It's creepy to look at."

"No." Juno's smile widened. "Because I'm very angry right now."

Juno's knife was already pressed against Kexi's neck.

The cold blade grazed his skin; if it went in just half an inch further, he would have to say goodbye to this world.

"Quick, answer quickly." Juno tilted his head, a dangerous smile spreading across his face. "If you answer well, I'll consider letting you go."

Kexi didn't dare move her Adam's apple, only daring to utter the words from the side of her throat. "Ask, ask."

"Okay, do you have...?"

I loved!

Kexi's eyes were now filled with unwavering determination, as if she were ready to join the Party.

Juno raised an eyebrow slightly. He'd been predicted?

That...

"Leaving aside my own situation..."

"I can't let it go!"

Kexi interrupted him abruptly, her tone sharp, as if she wanted to move the heavens.

"I can't let you go! How can I live without you? I'd rather stay single forever than let you go!"

Kexi gave herself a score of 8.8 for her quick response.

Juno paused for a moment, and the tips of his ears turned a barely perceptible red.

But she quickly regained her judge-like expression.

This time, she wanted to ask from a different angle. She cleared her throat and continued, "Let's leave Augusta aside."

"I can't let it go!"

wrong.

Kexi's mind was spinning. Why was Juno suddenly acting out of character?

"Oh no, my mind's a bit muddled. Ask me again, give me another chance!"

Juno's smile widened, a smile like the last ray of sunshine before a storm.

She leaned forward, her voice soft and gentle, and the knife drew closer to his neck, making Kexi tremble with fear.

"Then let's make it simpler. Augusta and I, one of us, will die."

In her desperation, Kexi couldn't think rationally and blurted out, "I choose you!!"

The air froze instantly.

This is bad.

Why Juno asking a question that's different from what he expected?

Shouldn't she be asking a question like, "If I and your mother fell into the river together, who would you save?"

Or, what if your sister and I were tied up, and the kidnapper said he could only keep one of us as a hostage? Who would you choose to live?

Or, if it's me and Augusta, who would you choose to marry?

That damn Juno, that little devil actually set a trap for him.

Juno's smile froze on his face for half a second before slowly cracking, revealing the boiling killing intent within.

Kexi then realized what she had said, and her face instantly turned as white as a sheet.

"No, I meant to choose you to live! No, I meant to choose her—no, no! Oh my god, let me explain, I misspoke, I really misspoke—"

"Alright, no need to ask anymore." Juno gently interrupted him, flicking the blade upwards. "Go to hell."

Kexi's pupils dilated suddenly; the glint of the blade filled his entire field of vision.

At this critical moment, two vines rose from the ground, wrapping around Juno's wrists on the left and right, suspending her in mid-air.

Juno's knife slipped from his hand and fell to the ground with a clatter.

She was suspended in the air, her legs kicking incessantly, like a wildcat being grabbed by the scruff of its neck.

"What's going on? Put me down!"

Kexi slowly walked up to Juno, looked up at her, and had a playful smile on her lips.

He was nowhere to be seen as panicked as he had been moments before.

His eyes held the nonchalant ease of a cat toying with a mouse.

"I was just putting a candy in there."

He raised his hand and shook his bangs on his forehead proudly, his tone full of pride that he wanted to be beaten,

"You really think you've got me cornered?"

Chun's power is so useful; just thinking about what he's going to do next makes him want to chuckle to himself.

Juno struggled in mid-air, furious like a cat with its fur standing on end, kicking her legs wildly. "You liar! You wrote to so many people, saying you liked me! You liked my legs! It was all a lie! You lied to me!"

Kexi looked at her, her expression suddenly becoming serious.

He waited until Juno finished ranting before speaking, "I admit, I did write letters to many people."

Juno let out a cold snort and turned her face away.

Kexi didn't take it seriously and continued, "But you're wrong."

Juno glanced over out of the corner of his eye.

I really like your legs.

Juno's face stiffened at first, then turned red at a visible speed, burning from the base of his neck all the way to the tips of his ears.

She opened her mouth, as if she wanted to say something, but Kexi had already squatted down.

He knelt down on one knee and reached out to grab Juno's ankle.

The vines cooperated by lowering her legs a little, just enough for Kexi to reach.

Juno panicked. "W-what are you doing! Let go of my foot!"

Kexi ignored her.

He grasped her ankle, gently hooked his fingers, and slipped her shoes off, tossing them aside casually.

The shoe traced an arc in the air.
