Background / History
Childhood and Martial Soul Awakening
Tang San retains cultivation knowledge from his previous world and practices at dawn with Tang Yin. Before their Martial Soul Awakening, he spends three months unable to break through the first level of the Mysterious Heaven Skill and also struggles to advance his Mysterious Jade Hand. He wonders whether the different world's conditions are responsible 1.
Su Yuntao awakens Tang San's Blue Silver Grass and discovers his Innate Full Soul Power. At home, Tang San reveals a second Martial Soul: the Clear Sky Hammer. Tang Hao instructs him to use the hammer to protect the grass and his younger brother, then forbids him from displaying the hammer to outsiders 1 3.
Tang Hao eventually permits both brothers to attend school and begins teaching Tang San the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer. Before leaving, Tang San spars with Tang Yin and loses when his brother's regenerating vines drain his Soul Power. Despite the defeat, he gives Tang Yin a Silent Sleeve Sword for protection 3 4.
Nuoding Academy
Tang San enters Nuoding Academy as a work-study student and joins Dorm Seven. He defeats Wang Sheng twice, earning the position of dorm leader despite initially insisting that he has come only to study. When Xiao Wu arrives, he redirects her challenge toward Tang Yin rather than fight her himself; Xiao Wu ultimately becomes the dorm leader 4 5 6.
After Yu Xiaogang deduces that he possesses Twin Martial Souls, Tang San accepts him as his master. He repeatedly encourages Tang Yin to do the same, arguing that theoretical knowledge is what they most need. Tang Yin refuses and openly challenges Yu Xiaogang's claims 7 8.
Tang San and Tang Yin also intervene when noble students bully Xiao Wu and the other work-study students. Tang Yin restrains most of the opposing group while Tang San fights Xiao Chenyu using his inherited techniques, despite not yet possessing a Soul Skill 7.
During his first school year, Tang San works at a blacksmith's shop. His forging improves the quality of its equipment, and he earns five Silver Soul Coins per month. On returning to Holy Soul Village with Tang Yin and Xiao Wu, he discovers that Tang Hao has left, turning his excitement at coming home into helplessness 8.
Separation from Tang Yin
When Tang Yin prepares to leave for Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Tang San accepts that their paths are different and warns him not to let others take advantage of him. Tang Yin shows him a thousand-year second Soul Ring and cautions that conventional Soul Ring limits are not absolute 13.
Tang San subsequently confronts Yu Xiaogang when the teacher describes Tang Yin as a specimen needed to validate his theories. He insists that his brother has his own path and is not merely evidence for someone else's work 14.
Months later, Tang San continues intensive hammer training at Nuoding Academy. Unable to correspond freely with Tang Yin, he worries about his brother's safety and resolves to become strong enough to protect him wherever he goes 22.
Shrek and the Imperial Fighting Team
Tang San later appears as one of the Shrek Seven Devils at the Great Soul Arena, facing Tang Yin's Imperial Fighting Team. He looks at his brother with confusion and a sense of familiarity in his blood. The supplied account ends as both teams release their Martial Souls; no match result is given 31.
Appearance
- Resemblance to Tang Yin: Their faces are described as roughly seventy percent alike; Tang Yin's brows and eyes appear colder 13.
- Relative height: At their separation, Tang Yin is described as half an inch shorter than Tang San 22.
- Later appearance: At the Great Soul Arena, Tang San is taller and thinner than Tang Yin remembers and wears his hair in a scorpion braid 31.
- Training marks: Prolonged hammer practice leaves fresh calluses on his palms 22.
Personality
Tang San is reserved and deliberate. Tang Yin remembers him as someone who speaks little, has steady hands, and sounds as though he has thought through his words before speaking. His discipline is evident in his dawn cultivation and prolonged hammer training 1 22.
Having been an orphan in his previous life, he places exceptional importance on family. He offers to remain with Tang Hao when his father becomes angry about their awakening, accepts responsibility for protecting Tang Yin, and supplies his brother with weapons even after losing to him in a spar 2 3 4 8 9.
He initially trusts Yu Xiaogang's judgment strongly enough to urge Tang Yin to become a fellow disciple. That loyalty has limits: when Yu Xiaogang treats his brother's development as research material, Tang San openly objects 7 14.
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses two distinct Martial Souls 1 3.
- Blue Silver Grass: The Martial Soul he publicly identifies at Nuoding Academy and uses in his Soul Master development 4 7.
- Clear Sky Hammer: A pitch-black hammer with carved patterns on its head. Tang Hao orders him to conceal it from outsiders 3.
- Planned development: Tang Hao tells Tang Yin that he has prepared Tang San's road around the Clear Sky Hammer and Clear Sky Sect; this is a paternal plan, not a documented sect induction 12.
Mysterious Heaven Skill
A cultivation method retained from his previous world 1.
- Practiced through a controlled breathing cycle at dawn.
- Before awakening, Tang San cannot break through its first-level bottleneck despite three months of effort 1.

- His dawn training is associated with sensing purple Qi from the east 1.
- The supplied fight does not specify its precise visual effects or limits 4.

- It allows Tang San to smash the first binding and resume his charge.
- It does not prevent the remaining vines from regenerating and draining his Soul Power 4.
Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track
A movement technique used to close the distance against Tang Yin 4.
- Tang San combines it with Purple Demon Eye and Mysterious Jade Hand during their spar.
- Tang Yin's restraining Soul Skill ultimately stops his advance 4.

- Improves a Nuoding blacksmith shop's equipment through his craftsmanship 8.
- Continues repetitive hammer drills under Yu Xiaogang's supervision 22.

- Tang Hao — Father and first hammer instructor. Tang San follows his order to conceal the Clear Sky Hammer and is distressed to find him gone when returning home 3 8.
- Ah Yin — Mother, identified as the hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor who sacrificed herself after being forced into that position by Spirit Hall. Tang Hao gives her surviving right leg bone to Tang Yin rather than Tang San 12.
- Yu Xiaogang — Master. Tang San respects his theoretical knowledge but challenges his attempt to treat Tang Yin as proof of his theories 7 14.
- Xiao Wu — Dormmate, close companion, and later Shrek teammate. Tang San helps her after her spar with Tang Yin, rushes to her side during the nobles' bullying, and welcomes her on the brothers' visit home 5 7 8 31.
