Summoning Beasts
Dugu Bo's unexpected action brought a flicker of surprise to Jun Yan's eyes.
"You're giving me this Soul Bone?"
As far as Jun Yan was concerned, his own Soul Bones had to be either an exceptionally good fit or a hundred thousand years old. That didn't mean he considered Soul Bones worthless, though. After all, even if they weren't good enough for him, others would want them. If he didn't use them himself, he could always give them away.
"Yes! Take it!" Dugu Bo nodded firmly and casually tossed the Soul Bone to Jun Yan.
Jun Yan caught it, then asked again, "You're really giving it to me? You should know that this Soul Bone came from the same source as your Eighth Soul Ring. It might even strengthen your Soul Ring's power."
Dugu Bo rolled his eyes. "Put it away already! Otherwise, I'm going to regret it."
"Then shall I give it back?" Jun Yan asked, slipping the Soul Bone into his Soul Tool with a turn of his hand.
"No need. My eighth Soul Skill is Medusa's Time Freezing. That's already the strongest Soul Skill it could have produced. Surely the Soul Skill from this Soul Bone wouldn't be better than Time Freezing!" Dugu Bo said.
That was what he said, but in truth, a Soul Bone did far more than simply add a Soul Skill. It could strengthen Soul Power and improve talent, and some Soul Bones could even reduce the cost of using Soul Skills.
Dugu Bo said that because he wanted an excuse to lessen his own desire for the Soul Bone.
In his eyes, Jun Yan was a monstrous genius of Spirit Hall. Even if he didn't become Pope someday, he would surely wield great power within Spirit Hall. Although Dugu Bo had no intention of joining Spirit Hall, befriending Jun Yan ahead of time could only benefit him.
"Now that things are settled here, I should leave Sunset Forest. Coming with me?" Dugu Bo asked.
Jun Yan shook his head. "No need. I have some other business."
"All right, then. If you have time in the future, you can come find me in Heaven Dou City."
"I'll visit when I have time."
When Jun Yan reached the hill where the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well was located, he saw the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger and three Soul Beasts lying prostrate at its feet.
Although the tiger was a Soul Beast, Jun Yan could still see a hint of pride in its eyes.
"Roar!" (These are the Soul Beasts I picked out.)
The fact that it had captured three Soul Beasts in such a short time showed that it had made preparations long ago. Jun Yan examined them carefully and found that none of the three were ordinary Soul Beasts.
The Azure Baleful Eagle was a king among avian Soul Beasts. Its feathers were a striking blue-black, and it was an exceptionally majestic creature. This kind of Soul Beast could wield the power of wind, making it not only swift but also extraordinarily fierce in attack. This one seemed to have forty thousand years of cultivation.
The Three-Headed Hellhound was even stronger than the Azure Baleful Eagle. Each of its three heads commanded an ability: fire, poison, or darkness. Given the same age, it could hold its own against the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger. This one, of course, had only twenty or thirty thousand years of cultivation.
The last one was impressive indeed: a Titan Giant Ape. There was little that needed saying about it; it ranked among the top Soul Beasts. This one, however, seemed to have only just reached ten thousand years. Though it was the youngest, it was the second strongest of the three.
"Good grief, where did you find these three Soul Beasts? Especially the Three-Headed Hellhound."
The Dark Demon Evil God Tiger rose to its feet and roared at Jun Yan. It meant: this Three-Headed Hellhound is my little brother, but he left the Star Dou Great Forest a long time ago. I sensed his presence earlier, so I went and found him.
Hearing that, Jun Yan grew curious. "Wouldn't humans have discovered him after he left the Star Dou Great Forest?"
"Roar." (Of course not.)
The tiger then turned and roared at the Three-Headed Hellhound, meaning: little brother, show big brother what you can do.
"Woof, woof." The Three-Headed Hellhound barked twice in reply, then slowly began to shrink. Its body went from four or five meters long to the size of a common village dog, and only one of the three heads on its neck remained.
Jun Yan's eyes lit up. "Interesting. Can you get even smaller?"
The Three-Headed Hellhound turned to glance at its big brother. The Dark Demon Evil God Tiger nodded, so the hellhound continued shrinking until it became a tiny puppy.
Jun Yan smiled and nodded. "Good, good. Just the right size to hold in my arms."
He reached down to pick up the puppy, but it hurriedly changed back to its original form. Jun Yan quickly dodged aside in disgust.
Jun Yan then turned to the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger and pointed at the Three-Headed Hellhound. "Even he can shrink. You should be able to do it too, right?"
"Roar." (Of course I can.)
The Dark Demon Evil God Tiger let out a proud roar, and its body began to shrink as well. It stopped when it was only half a meter long, much smaller than the juvenile form Jun Yan had seen before.
But Jun Yan wasn't satisfied yet. "Keep going! Why did you stop?"
"Roar." (This is as small as I can get.) The Dark Demon Evil God Tiger explained.
But at that size, you're hard to hold! Jun Yan thought.
The Dark Demon Evil God Tiger knew nothing of Jun Yan's wicked thoughts. "Roar!" (All right, stop playing around and make the contracts!)
"All right." Jun Yan nodded, his expression turning serious. He used a fingernail on his left hand to cut his right palm, then pressed it against the Three-Headed Hellhound's head.
A stream of energy, carrying his blood, slowly formed an array, which then sank directly into the Three-Headed Hellhound's body.
A strange connection formed between Jun Yan and the Three-Headed Hellhound. Jun Yan had a feeling that, as long as he wished, he could directly summon the Three-Headed Hellhound from a thousand miles away.
Next, Jun Yan used the same method to establish Summoning Contracts with the Azure Baleful Eagle and the Titan Giant Ape in turn.
The Titan Giant Ape, however, was evidently somewhat mischievous. At first, it refused to cooperate, only obediently doing so after the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger roared at it.
Once the Summoning Contract was established, the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger finally let the Titan Giant Ape off.
The Dark Demon Evil God Tiger then began lecturing the three Soul Beasts, while Jun Yan headed straight for the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
He leaped straight down into the valley. After falling for several seconds, just as he was about to hit the ground, Jun Yan brought his hands together, and a vine shot up from below.
The vine grew upward and caught the falling Jun Yan, then carried him slowly down to the ground.
Jun Yan walked among the various medicinal plants. After searching for a while, he found what he was looking for.
It was a trembling red Immortal Herb, soft and downy. It looked quite simple, consisting only of red leaves. The tips of the leaves resembled a cockscomb, but a closer look revealed what set it apart: its veins were a reddish gold. The temperature around the herb was also noticeably higher.
The Cockscomb Phoenix Sunflower was a fire-attribute immortal-grade herb that could purify a Martial Soul and improve aptitude. It was also the Immortal Herb Jun Yan had prepared for his adoptive father, Jun Kuang.
Jun Kuang had been stuck at rank eighty-nine Soul Power for many years. Jun Yan believed that with this Immortal Herb, Jun Kuang should be able to break through his shackles and advance to Titled Douluo.
