Jun Yan Shows His Might
Just as all three thought victory was in their grasp, a figure suddenly appeared in front of Jun Yan.
The figure slapped both hands against the ground. Several mounds of earth rose instantly, and vines emerged from them, intertwining to form a wooden wall.
Smack, smack, smack! The wind and snow whipped up by Extreme Cold Storm struck the wall in rapid succession.
Unexpectedly, after taking the full force of that Soul Skill, the wall, which did not look particularly thick, was completely undamaged, save for a few small clumps of snow piled against its surface.
The wooden wall created by Jun Yan's Soul Skill was different from the plants Soul Power had forced into growth all around them. It had terrifying immunity to fire and water.
Ice-attribute attacks could scarcely accomplish anything against him.
Meanwhile, Jun Yan seemed to have nowhere left to run. The four sea swallow clones struck his body almost simultaneously.
With a pfft, sharp claws pierced Jun Yan's chest, but no blood flowed. "Jun Yan" slowly turned into a life-sized wooden figure.
"When?" the sea swallow Soul Saint cried in shock.
He had just started to flap his wings and leave when it was already too late. Four vines suddenly shot out from the wooden figure's limbs and bound him fast.
Jun Yan's fifth Soul Skill was not as simple as creating a clone. Otherwise, it would hardly have been worthy of a Ten Thousand Year Soul Ring.
Wood Clone consumed Soul Power to create a conscious clone, and within a short distance, the user could swap the positions of the original and the clone.
Jun Yan, who had been swapped behind the wooden wall, still had his palms pressed together. His Seventh Soul Ring flashed, and the branches and leaves of the surrounding trees began to grow wildly and converge.
Soon, a wooden figure over twenty meters tall appeared before everyone.
"Is that a Martial Soul Avatar?" several Soul Saints asked, staring blankly at the wooden figure.
When Jun Yan had used Wood Human Technique just now, he had deliberately used his Seventh Soul Skill. Since it was common knowledge that the Seventh Soul Skill was always the Martial Soul Avatar, they naturally assumed that this was Jun Yan's Martial Soul Avatar.
As soon as the wooden figure's body formed, it swung a fist straight behind it, right at the sea swallow Soul Saint.
Boom-
Its fist struck the ground and immediately smashed out a huge crater. When it lifted its fist, the sea swallow Soul Saint lay in the crater, his breathing faint.
Without timely treatment, he probably would not live much longer. But in the middle of this chaotic battle, where would anyone find a healing-type Soul Master to spare for him?
Jun Yan held two fingers of his right hand upright before his chest. The vines binding the sea swallow Soul Saint continued to tighten, and streams of Soul Power passed from the earth into Jun Yan's body.
This was a characteristic of Wood Release: it absorbed an opponent's Soul Power. After he obtained his Sixth Soul Ring, this characteristic had been strengthened further.
Boom, boom-
The wooden figure strode forward two steps, its enormous feet shaking the ground. Then it raised its right foot high and stomped down hard.
Beneath its foot was the lobster Soul Saint who had just been entangled by the vines.
The lobster Soul Saint had already unleashed his Martial Soul Avatar with all his strength, but the four-meter-long lobster was still rather small before the twenty-meter-tall wooden figure.
Boom! The wooden figure's huge foot came down, and the lobster Soul Saint had to use every ounce of strength to hold it up with both hands.
"I'll help you."
The ice scorpion Soul Saint pushed off with several legs, and his seemingly cumbersome body sprang abruptly off the ground. Then he activated his fifth Soul Skill, and a white energy instantly enveloped his tail. The incomparably sharp stinger at its tip stabbed straight at the wooden figure.
But before the ice scorpion could strike, the wooden figure slapped him. The heavy blow sent him flying sideways for more than fifty meters. He crashed hard to the ground and skidded another ten meters or more.
The wooden figure put force into its right leg, and the giant lobster beneath its foot slowly sank into the ground. It lifted its foot, then stomped down again.
With a boom, the ground shook violently. Anyone who did not know what was happening might have thought it was an earthquake.
The wooden figure bent over, reached down, and hauled the giant lobster out of the earth where he was buried deep, then flung him away.
Just like that, the three Soul Saints who had surrounded Jun Yan were completely wiped out.
Jun Yan leaped straight onto the wooden figure's head and directed it to help their allies.
The wooden figure began to run. Boom, boom, boom! Every footfall made a tremendous noise.
With one kick from the wooden figure, a Soul Saint went flying. With one slap, a Soul Emperor was pressed into the ground.
In the time it took an incense stick to burn, it had saved the lives of several of Spirit Hall's backbone members.
But such conspicuous actions soon attracted the attention of a Sea God Island Soul Douluo, and not an ordinary one.
She was a Soul Douluo of Sea Maiden City, known as the Sea Witch. But she was not human; she was a princess of the Mermaid Clan. Because of her extraordinary talent, the clan leader had sent her to Sea Maiden Sea Maiden City.
She was now at rank eighty-eight in Soul Power. It was almost certain that Sea Maiden City would have two Titled Douluo in the future.
She held a short black flute in her hand, her Martial Soul, the Sea Demon Flute. Eight Soul Rings-two yellow, two purple, and four black-were arranged in order along it.
Jun Yan said to the Sea Witch, "You're a Soul Douluo. Are you really going to interfere in a battle between us Soul Saints?"
The Sea Witch smiled. "Your combat strength is more than that of a mere Soul Saint. If we continue to leave you alone, who knows how many of Sea God Island's elites we'll lose?"
With that, she brought the flute to her lips. "Your Soul Douluo can't get here yet, so listen to me play a tune first!"
She was right. Not many experts at the Soul Douluo level had come to Sea God Island with Spirit Hall this time. After holding off experts of the same level, Sea God Island still had Soul Douluo to spare against Spirit Hall's Soul Saints.
Naturally, Jun Yan would not let her play as she pleased. He sent the wooden figure running toward her while activating his first Soul Skill, Wood Spear. Five long wooden spears flew at her like arrows loosed from a bow.
The Sea Witch instantly became insubstantial, and her drifting figure happened to evade Jun Yan's Wood Spears.
Having dodged his attack, the Sea Witch instead said crossly, "Oh, you're so annoying! My music is lovely to listen to."
Jun Yan said, "If you want to play the flute for me so badly, why not come back to Spirit Hall with me and play to your heart's content?"
While he spoke, the wooden figure had already closed in on the Sea Witch and swiped a palm at her.
The Sea Witch pushed off the ground with both feet and soared twenty meters into the air, just avoiding the wooden figure's punch.
Then her legs swayed, and her two long thighs instantly turned into a fish's tail. She spun, sweeping the enormous tail toward Jun Yan atop the wooden figure's head.
Seeing this, Jun Yan shifted his feet and retreated to the side. Then he kicked hard off the ground with his left foot, shot into the sky, and thrust his right foot at the Sea Witch in midair.
The Sea Witch giggled. The third Soul Ring on the flute in her hand flashed, and black light flickered across it. Seven beams of black light shot from its finger holes and coiled toward the oncoming Jun Yan.
Jun Yan's fifth Soul Ring flashed as well, and a Wood Clone instantly flew out of him.
The seven beams of black light from the Sea Demon Flute wrapped around "Jun Yan" like ropes, leaving him unable to move.
But the Sea Witch was not at all pleased. Could someone who could summon such a towering giant be caught so easily?
Before she could think any further, the wooden figure reached for her.
She grabbed "Jun Yan," who was bound by the demonic sound, in one hand and bent her tail. Just as the wooden figure's hand was about to reach her, she flexed her waist and abdomen and darted away like a nimble silverfish.
The moment the Sea Witch landed, she heard someone beside her say, "Wood Barrier."
Four wooden walls instantly grew around her, enclosing her on all sides. Then a huge hand descended from above, about to cover the four walls.
"How is that possible?" The Sea Witch paled in shock and turned to look at the Jun Yan in her hand. But that was no Jun Yan at all; it was plainly a large block of wood.
Seeing the huge hand drawing ever closer overhead, the Sea Witch immediately activated her eighth Soul Skill, Sea God's Roar.
Powerful waves of energy instantly burst from the Sea Demon Flute, filling the entire space enclosed by the wooden walls.
Fortunately, this Soul Skill was a sonic attack. Had it been a water-attribute attack, it probably would not have had much effect.
Almost as soon as the waves touched the walls, cracking sounds rang out. More and more waves followed, and the walls gave a grating, teeth-aching creak.
With a crack, the four wooden walls could bear the strain no longer and burst apart. The Sea Witch immediately dodged to one side.
Boom-
The wooden figure's palm slammed into the ground, throwing up a great cloud of dust. Unfortunately, it missed its target.
The Sea Witch finally realized how troublesome her opponent was. She held up the Sea Demon Flute, and its seventh, deep-black Soul Ring shone with a profound light. Under that light, the flute slowly grew larger.
Immediately afterward, she activated her Sixth Soul Ring.
Though the Sea Witch was not blowing into it, the Sea Demon Flute made music on its own. This too was a sonic Soul Skill, but unlike the powerful burst of the eighth Soul Skill, the sixth was as subtle as rain nourishing the earth in silence.
Beautiful flute music rang out all around, and Jun Yan was the first to bear the brunt.
As soon as he heard it, a thought rose in his mind: This flute music is so beautiful!
But in the next second, his mind instantly cleared, and the thought vanished.
Jun Yan thought, A hypnotic Soul Skill? Fine, I'll turn her own scheme against her.
Then he stood blankly atop the wooden figure's head, listening to the flute music, while the figure stopped moving altogether.
The Sea Witch felt somewhat pleased with herself. He's only a Soul Saint after all. His mental strength is far too weak to resist my control.
It was no wonder she was so confident. Nearly all the Soul Masters nearby had been brought under her control; even Soul Saints could not last more than a few seconds before being hypnotized.
The Sea Witch pushed off with her tail and soared high again. When she reached Jun Yan's height, she raised her flute and thrust it toward him.
She did not use any other Soul Skills because the Sea Demon Flute had to continue maintaining this one.
Who would have thought that just as the flute was about to hit him, Jun Yan would suddenly turn sideways to avoid the attack and reach out to grab the Sea Witch's wrist?
"How..."
The Sea Witch's expression changed abruptly, but before she could finish, Jun Yan had already punched her.
With a smack, his fist struck the pretty face that had been smiling so charmingly just moments ago. Her face instantly contorted, pulling her head, then her neck, then her body along with it, until she finally went flying.
The wooden figure moved quickly too, clapping its hands together hard in front of it, with the Sea Witch's petite body caught between those two huge palms.
Just as the wooden figure was about to strike her, a beam of gray light flew in from the distance and hit her squarely.
Smack-
The wooden figure's palms closed, but unexpectedly, no blood splattered.
The Sea Witch was a member of the Mermaid Clan, but she was still only a tool-type Soul Master and did not have such a strong physique. If the wooden figure hit her, even if she did not die on the spot, she would at least be gravely wounded and near death.
When the wooden figure opened its hands, Jun Yan saw a Soul Master whose body was completely tucked behind a shield. He had seven Soul Rings.
It was a shield-type Martial Soul. To withstand a slap from the wooden figure with such force without the shield breaking showed that he was a top-tier defensive Soul Saint.
"And was that a position-swap? He switched places with the Sea Witch a second before the palms struck and saved her."
Jun Yan looked down at the ground and saw that the Sea Witch still looked shaken.
"But saving someone isn't that simple." Jun Yan turned his gaze to the Soul Master in the wooden figure's palm.
The wooden figure seized the defensive Soul Master in its right hand and slammed him down toward the ground.
With a smack, the Soul Master crashed to the ground, armor and all. Giving him no chance to escape, the wooden figure took two steps forward, raised its right foot, and stomped at him.
That Soul Master's physical condition was truly strong. Even now, he could still roll over and grab his shield.
But it was too late to escape. He could only raise the shield over his head and activate a Soul Skill. A transparent halo extended from the shield and covered his entire body.
The instant the halo formed, the huge foot came down.
Boom-
The wooden figure's huge foot struck the ground, then rose and came down again.
After this was repeated several times, the Soul Master was driven deeper and deeper until his entire body was below ground level, but the wooden figure still did not stop stomping.
A faint crack sounded beneath the wooden figure's foot.
Unfortunately, no one could hear it. The sound of the wooden figure stomping was simply too loud.
The wooden figure stopped only after stomping more than ten times in succession. It moved its foot aside, and Jun Yan, high atop its head, saw only a pool of blood-red at the bottom of the crater, which was about a zhang deep.
What could truly decide victory or defeat was not the chaotic battle between the thousands of Soul Masters below, but the fight among those dozen or so Titled Douluo.
Spirit Hall had the advantage in both numbers and quality, but at present, Sea God Island was indeed in the stronger position.
This was because they were on Sea God Island, and in particular, the Sea Maiden Sacred Pillar, one of the Sacred Pillars bestowed by the Sea God, stood in Sea Maiden City not far behind them.
Although the distance was great and the energy that could reach her was not powerful, it still allowed Sea Maiden Douluo to press Qian Jun Douluo hard.
Qian Jun Douluo understood that things could not go on like this. If they could not gain the upper hand in today's battle, they would have virtually no chance of winning. Fighting away from home, if they could not win battle after battle, they could only suffer a crushing defeat.
"Yue Guan, Gui Mei, use your trump card!" Qian Jun Douluo shouted to the two men.
"Yes!"
Yue Guan and Gui Mei forced their opponents back at the same time and charged toward each other.
Golden and silver flames of light surged from the two men, and their nine Soul Rings lit up almost simultaneously. Immediately afterward, their bodies abruptly merged, and all eighteen Soul Rings instantly condensed into one enormous golden-and-silver halo that silently flew out.
"Two Extremes Stillness Domain."
Suddenly, heaven and earth turned gold and silver. All seven members of Sea God Island's party-five Titled Douluo and two Soul Douluo-froze in midair at once.
