Nine Heavens of the Rain Path
These were the most elite warriors, hailed as the Rain Clan's finest. All wore iron armor and held sharp weapons that flashed with cold light. They sat astride vicious beasts, brimming with murderous intent.
The gate was completely blockaded, and sharp weapons pointed straight at Lei Chong and Shi Hao.
"Did you smash the Rain Manor's gate?" A middle-aged cultivator sat on the back of the barbaric beast at the head of the group, staring coldly at the two.
"We did." Shi Hao made no attempt to conceal it.
"Do you really think you're the Great Demon God? Do you really think my Rain Clan is so easy to bully?" The middle-aged cultivator's voice was icy, and the killing intent in his heart had not diminished in the least.
"Aren't you going to ask why?" Shi Hao studied the men. They were all undoubtedly experts who had been through a baptism of blood. They looked as though they had just come off the battlefield, and the stench of blood clung to them.
"No need. You dared to make trouble at my Rain King Mansion. No matter who comes today, no one can save you." The middle-aged man spoke coldly, pointing the black demonic saber in his hand at the space between Lei Chong's brows.
Their opponents were just two youths, and their faces were unfamiliar. They surely had no backing, so there was no need to show them any courtesy.
"Arrogant, overbearing, and conceited-you've got it all. Who do you think you are, acting without knowing right from wrong?" Shi Hao said coldly.
"After provoking my Rain Clan, you should have been prepared for this. Not just anyone can trample on my clan. If you court death, you have no one to blame but yourself!"
"Don't think so highly of yourselves. The Rain Clan is a royal clan, and it sounds impressive to say it once produced a god and is an ancient aristocratic family, but it has long since become no different from the rest." Shi Hao sneered.
"No matter how far the Rain Clan has fallen, it's not for every stray cat and dog to provoke. If you provoke my clan, you'll have to pay the price!" The black demonic saber in the middle-aged man's hand rang out, spewing saber light.
"Is that so? What if I have provoked you? Look at the head under your feet. Isn't he one of your Rain Clan?" Lei Chong also spoke coldly.
Clang!
The middle-aged man did not move from his spot. Instead, he swung his demonic saber.
In his eyes, no matter whose head it was, these people had dared to attack their very doorstep, the greatest possible provocation to his Rain Clan.
The black demonic blade glowed, and a mass of runes blossomed. The middle-aged man struck, chopping straight down at their heads.
Clang!
Lei Chong flicked a finger. Runes blazed, and a thick bolt of lightning flew out, striking the middle-aged man's saber edge. A ball of dazzling light erupted, accompanied by a metallic clang.
The black demonic saber trembled as electric light coursed over it, making the middle-aged man's body shudder violently. Though his cultivation was formidable and he had already reached the Inscription Realm, he could not withstand that electric light.
The middle-aged man spat blood, his face pale. He slammed into the courtyard wall, sending earth and stone flying and dust billowing into the sky. He never got back up.
The others were stunned. This youth was too strong. A single flick of his finger had settled the outcome, decisive and fierce. His strength made their hair stand on end.
"This is the Rain King Mansion. Do you want to be the Rain King's enemy?" the middle-aged man asked, forcing himself to speak.
"If you don't want to die... get lost!" Lei Chong responded coldly, raising his hand once more, just as domineering as before. His palm was enormous, and with a rumble, he slapped a wall down. Millstone-sized rocks flew in all directions, and dust billowed into the sky.
"Who dares come to my Rain King Mansion and make trouble?" A section of the courtyard wall collapsed, alerting those inside. Several experts happened to be stationed there, and they quickly appeared.
At the sight of the head on the ground, the experts' expressions changed drastically. Though it was charred black, they could still recognize it upon closer inspection.
A chill swept down their backs, and cold shot straight to their hearts.
Yu Yan was a clan elder, yet he had died just like that.
"What are you doing? This is the Rain King Mansion. If you dare run wild again, the Rain King won't let you off." The experts' expressions were incomparably grave.
As they spoke, they were secretly preparing something.
"Be careful. Those fellows are up to something," Shi Hao warned through voice transmission.
"Don't worry. I'm waiting for them." Lei Chong showed no sign of tension.
These men were stationed in the front courtyard, all exceptional experts responsible for guarding the peace of the mansion. If a major mishap occurred today, they would have more than they could handle.
They secretly took out a stone casket. With utmost solemnity, as though offering up a supreme divine artifact, they struck it hard. The casket opened, and a lustrous, precious light bloomed from within, leaking killing intent.
The men chanted an incantation, and a metallic ringing sounded from the stone casket.
In an instant, a sword formation appeared, covering the area and shrouding the void. Eight flying swords flew out, each only the length of a palm. They were crystalline and translucent from end to end, radiating surging killing intent.
A blue sword blade sliced toward them. It was only a little over half a foot long, yet incomparably sharp, like a streak of divine light rising from a blue sea, its killing intent towering to the heavens.
Several more sword blades followed, each a different color, none of them any weaker than the first blue blade.
Clang!
Lei Chong casually flicked his fingers several times. Streaks of electric light shot from his fingertips and struck the eight flying swords, producing a series of metallic clangs.
The eight flying swords flew backward toward the experts.
Clang, clang, clang!
The experts dodged. The eight flying swords sliced through the hard bluestone ground as though it were tofu, instantly cutting it into many pieces.
"This..." The men looked at one another, their expressions turning exceedingly ugly.
Pfft!
The men bit the tips of their tongues and spat out wisps of blood. The blood stained the flying swords, making them even more powerful.
Clang!
Lei Chong flicked one of the flying swords, making it tremble. Yet the sword did not retreat, instead continuing to fly toward him.
He grew increasingly shocked and doubtful. The flying swords' power had soared, reaching the level of a Venerable, but that was all.
"Kill!" the men shouted in unison, controlling the flying swords as they attacked Lei Chong.
Lei Chong snorted coldly and spat out a bolt of purple lightning. He did not want to remain entangled with them and wanted to end the battle as quickly as possible.
Streaks of purple radiance immediately swirled through the area, enveloping not only all the flying swords but also the experts. A chorus of screams rang out.
The battle ended swiftly. The place was a shambles, littered with charred corpses from which electric arcs occasionally escaped. Everyone was dead.
Hum!
Lei Chong reached out and seized the stone casket.
These were the Rain Clan's Eight Vicious Swords, a devastating weapon handed down from ancient times. The required materials had been difficult to gather, however, so some substitutes had been used.
Lei Chong swept his divine sense over it, committing the sword formation and the incantation for activating it to memory.
Though the sword formation was powerful, to him it was nothing but junk.
"This is for you." Lei Chong guided the flying swords back into the stone casket and tossed it to Shi Hao beside him.
"It seems I'm just too wise and mighty. Brother Lei wants to befriend me, does he?" Shi Hao shamelessly accepted it.
Boom!
Deep within the Rain Manor, several figures shot up at once.
From the moment the manor gates were smashed, these people had begun their preparations. Now they jointly unleashed a precious technique, merging it into one.
"Nine Heavens of the Rain Path!" they roared. Every one of them glowed amid endless runes and splash after splash of water. A crystalline curtain of rain shrouded heaven and earth as rain poured down.
