Background / History
Kunpeng Nest
Shi Hao competed for the Kunpeng rune bone against Mo Shang, Han Tian, and the other cultivators gathered in the nest. After obtaining it, he fought off attackers with a broken sword before being knocked into the Demon Transformation Cave—a fall he had also intended. The rune bone shattered, scattering fragments among the crowd 2.
He obtained the Kunpeng Method during the expedition. Later, Little Pagoda revealed that someone had occupied the nest before it opened, leading Shi Hao to realize that another person already knew about his acquisition 20.
Search for His Grandfather
Shi Hao came to the Stone Kingdom’s imperial capital to search for his grandfather. At the Gu Bone Auction House, he bought an unusual bone fragment and the damaged Indestructible Golden Body, but abandoned his bid for the Earth-Shrinking Talisman after Lei Chong repeatedly outbid him 20 21.
When Rain King Mansion and Martial King Manor pressured Lei Chong to surrender the Void Beast Hide, Shi Hao challenged their claim that they merely wanted to trade. The factions then demanded his own battle puppet and Heavenly Bone. Shi Hao drew Ghost Master’s broken sword, while Lei Chong struck the aggressors before the auction house intervened 22.
Lei Chong subsequently told him about a wanted notice issued in Medicine Capital by a Demon Spirit Lake Venerable. Learning that the Demon Spider responsible had died while the notice for his grandfather remained gave Shi Hao hope that his grandfather was still alive 22 23.
Exchange with Lei Chong
Lei Chong proposed using the dead Demon Spider’s leg to lure out Demon Spirit Lake’s forces in exchange for borrowing the God-Striking Stone. Shi Hao questioned his motives and consulted Little Pagoda before accepting the arrangement 23.
Both youths suffered backlash when attempting to memorize the primordial runes inside the stone. Lei Chong instead engraved them onto bone and gave Shi Hao a copy, explaining that studying it could strengthen his primordial spirit and warning him against careless transmission 23 24.
Raid on Rain King Mansion
After offering to help Lei Chong deal with an anticipated ambush, Shi Hao secretly followed him despite his refusal. He eventually used an external Double Pupils artifact to trace disturbances in the void and locate him. The two then agreed to confront the Rain Clan, which Shi Hao blamed for bullying his grandfather 24 25.
During the raid, Shi Hao received the captured Eight Vicious Swords casket and donned the Indestructible Golden Body against the Nine Heavens of the Rain Path. He also watched Lei Chong’s Suanni Technique closely, recognizing how much more refined Lei Chong’s lightning control was than his own 26 27.
After escaping the pursuing Rain God statue, Shi Hao questioned Lei Chong’s attempt to frame the Rain Clan for the Demon Spider’s death because the dates did not match. Lei Chong supplied a cover story and asked him to spread it. Before departing, Lei Chong shared divine decree fragments with Shi Hao, who ate several and attached others to the Indestructible Golden Body to begin repairing it 28 29.
Appearance
- Face: Handsome, with delicate features and bright, sparkling eyes 2 20.
- Teeth: Small, gleaming canine teeth, which he grinds when determined or angry 2 25.
- Clothing: Wears beast-hide clothing at the imperial capital auction 20.
- Hair: Tiny translucent specks of light glimmer among his hair; Little Pagoda and the God-Striking Stone also shelter there 20 23 33.
Personality
Shi Hao is outspoken and unwilling to be intimidated by powerful clans. He openly mocks the auction-house factions’ threats, turns their demands for treasure back on them, and challenges the Rain Clan’s habit of attacking without asking why 22 26.
His bravado is tempered by caution. He abandons an attempt to inflate Lei Chong’s auction bid, questions why a near-stranger would help him, and relies on Little Pagoda as a safeguard during their negotiations. His grandfather’s safety is a particular concern: news of the wanted notice immediately draws his full attention 20 22 23.
He enjoys teasing and self-praise, but also shows concern for an emerging ally. Despite Lei Chong declining assistance, Shi Hao follows him because he fears an ambush and the theft of the God-Striking Technique 22 24 26.
Abilities & Skills
Kunpeng Method
Shi Hao acquires the Kunpeng Method through the Kunpeng Nest expedition 20.
- His possession of the method becomes a concern when he learns that another person had entered the nest before its public opening 20.
Suanni Technique
Shi Hao has mastered the Suanni Technique, although his execution is less practiced than Lei Chong’s 27.
- Recognizes Lei Chong’s effortless manipulation of the lightning Suanni as the kind of lightning control he wants to achieve 27.
Divine Perception
His keen divine perception allows him to sense observation through an auction-house screening formation 20.
- Detects that someone in a neighboring private room is watching him.
- Cannot see through the formation to identify the observer 20.
God-Striking Technique Access
Shi Hao receives a bone engraved with the God-Striking Technique, whose runes target primordial spirits 23 24.
- Direct inspection initially makes him grunt in pain and turns his face pale.
- The engraved copy preserves the runes for gradual study.
- Receiving the technique does not establish that he has mastered it 23 24.
