Background / History
Promotion and Alliance with Noah
Wennide was one of four or five minor leaders serving under Kelirui. He and fellow boss Kerien had been bitter rivals since the White Eagle Society’s founding. Following the disappearance of Kelirui and the loss of the society’s strongest fighters, A-Wu identified Wennide as an ambitious but vulnerable candidate for Qi Zhou to support 37 38 39.
The vice president appointed Wennide acting division head and ordered him to supply men for the eastern district’s fighting. Wennide publicly accepted with gratitude, but privately recognized the appointment as a trap: his former peers might refuse his orders, while the fighting could exhaust his own manpower within days 38.
Qi Zhou approached him with information that Kerien’s men were dead, then offered support in exchange for large quantities of free Stock Solution. Wennide agreed, explaining that he needed to become hall master before he could obtain it. He recognized Qi Zhou’s strength as an opportunity, while viewing the boy’s dependence on Stock Solution as potential leverage 38 39.
Consolidating His Command
Wennide visited Kerien’s hideout, where his wounded rival stabbed himself rather than fall into Wennide’s hands. After confirming Kerien’s death, Wennide buried him at Qi Zhou’s instruction. The two formalized their partnership, with Qi Zhou introducing himself as Noah and posing as Wennide’s subordinate 39.
When Wennide summoned the other minor bosses, they arrived with armed followers after beating his messengers. Qi Zhou’s crushing aura pressure silenced their challenges, allowing Wennide to assert command. That evening, Wennide struck Kerien’s name from the rolls and ordered the assembled bosses to accompany him to the East District 39 40.
Bayer and the District Seven Ambush
Bayer subsequently demanded Wennide’s men for the fighting zone. Once Qi Zhou arrived, Wennide offered to lend them only if Bayer could win their obedience. After Qi Zhou overpowered Bayer, Wennide reversed the demand and took Bayer’s men instead 41 42.
At the society’s District Seven base, Wennide made Bayer and his followers enter first. An ambush killed the men ahead, but Qi Zhou pulled Wennide behind a corner before the gunfire reached him. Rather than abandon Wennide and jeopardize their plans, Qi Zhou confronted and killed the attacker, Vincent 42 43.
Afterward, Wennide roughly removed a bullet from Bayer’s shoulder and bound the wound with torn clothing. He arranged to have Bayer’s men retrieve him, collected Vincent’s weapons, and returned under Qi Zhou’s protection. Qi Zhou’s suggestion that he claim Vincent’s territory helped Wennide realize he no longer needed to surrender his gains to stronger society leaders 44.
Expansion and Vice Presidency
Bayer’s near-fatal injuries discouraged the other hall masters from targeting Wennide. Over the following ten days, Wennide secured his position and gained influence through Vincent’s defeat and the seizure of his territory. Although Qi Zhou had killed Vincent, the victory strengthened Wennide’s standing within the society 43 46.
A-Wu then borrowed Wennide’s forces to capture eastern strongholds and recover his own followers by having them declared killed in battle. A-Wu and Qi Zhou initially discussed making Wennide president, but revised their approach to supporting the existing vice president’s succession while placing Wennide beneath him as vice president. By Chapter 49, those appointments had occurred; A-Wu expected both leaders to attend the forthcoming council of elders 41 46 49.

Personality
Wennide combines timidity with ambition. He initially presents himself as honest and meek, but quickly understands the danger behind his promotion and recognizes that Qi Zhou is far more dangerous than his appearance suggests. He is willing to address a child respectfully when doing so serves his survival and advancement 38 39.
His caution diminishes as he gains power. After bringing the minor bosses to heel, he openly savors their fear and imagines climbing high enough to decide others’ lives and deaths. He imitates the vice president’s detached manner when issuing orders, yet remains acutely dependent on Qi Zhou’s protection when faced with a lethal threat 40 42.
