Uninvited Guests
Lost Forest.
Not long after Rog left, two uninvited guests quietly arrived. One was a middle-aged man dressed as a missionary, and the other was a blue-haired young man with a defiant look on his face.
The two flew through the air, talking to each other.
"Lord Apide, people have become gods in the Lost Forest one after another. Some treasure must have appeared here. Now that we've come together, we're sure to seize it." Panlongke'er was also a Lowgod, but he had become a god relatively recently, and the profound mystery he had comprehended belonged to the Water Law. His combat power was not particularly outstanding among those of his level.
Of course, Apide was the main fighting force of the pair. Not only was his understanding of the laws more profound, but he also possessed the Earth-Splitting Saber, a Midgod Artifact. Combined with the second profound mystery Apide had comprehended, his combat ability was on an entirely different level from Panlongke'er's.
With Apide's strength, dealing with two Lowgods would be no problem at all. Panlongke'er only needed to keep their opponents occupied and prevent them from escaping.
"Dimont, someone's here." Inside the cave, the soul power of Rog's true body quickly detected the enemies.
"Mm." Soon, Dimont also noticed two divine senses sweeping toward them.
"Are you the magical beast who recently broke through?" Apide asked Dimont coldly. Then he frowned and glanced at Rog behind Dimont. The fellow had no aura of divine power, but Apide found that his soul aura was no weaker than his own, and perhaps even stronger. It was rather strange.
"That's right. What can I do for you two?" Suppressing his anger, Dimont looked at them with hostility in his voice. He could already see their animosity. If not for his master's orders, he would have been ready to tear the two of them apart long ago.
"Cut the nonsense. Hand over the treasure you used to become a god, and you can keep your life today. Otherwise..." Panlongke'er spoke bluntly. He had made little progress for several thousand years since becoming a god, and he urgently needed this "treasure" to improve his strength.
"Treasure? I don't have any treasure here." With that, Dimont switched to his true body and revealed it. He had yet to nurture any divine artifacts, but his six arms were the most suitable weapons.
"So there's nothing to discuss?" The gaze in Apide's blue eyes turned cold. Although he and Dimont were both Lowgods, Apide not only possessed more abundant divine power, but had also reached a bottleneck in comprehending his second profound mystery. Even though he had yet to master it, he could unleash tremendous power by combining it with the Earth-Splitting Saber.
"Let's fight!" Dimont, who had not fought to his heart's content in a long time, unleashed all his power. His towering body was like that of a demon god. The five-meter-tall Heaven-Pillaring Demonic Ape burst forth with terrifying speed, his six formidable-looking arms punching in coordinated succession.
All six fists struck with terrifying force. At a glance, all that could be seen was a blur of fist shadows enveloping Apide.
"Hmph, I've never feared a head-on fight!" Apide drew an earthy-yellow saber. "Heavy Mountain Cleave!" The saber glowed with a hazy yellow light of Earth Divine Power as a pure force empowered it. He slashed, and space itself seemed about to split as the blade crashed into the enormous demonic ape!
"Boom!" Apide's strike met Dimont's fist, and a thunderous explosion rang through the air. Neither gained the upper hand, and a massive crack opened in space!
Space in a Material Plane was relatively fragile. Their physical attacks were already powerful enough to tear open the plane's space here.
"That saber!" Although Dimont had not fallen behind in the clash, his opponent's saber was simply too sharp. Even his demonic ape body could barely withstand it. Two of his arms had been cut open, their flesh turned outward and blood streaming from the wounds. The black bones within were faintly visible.
"This giant ape is strong.
" Seeing this, Panlongke'er could not help feeling a lingering fear. Although his opponent had become a god only a few years ago, he could fight Apide to a standstill. If Panlongke'er had gone up against him instead, the giant ape might well have pounded him to death. "Come help me!" Seeing how astonishingly powerful the mighty giant ape was, Apide immediately used Soul Transmission to summon Panlongke'er, who had been watching from the sidelines.
"All right!" Panlongke'er's expression was grim, but he was the one who had proposed this "treasure hunt," so he could hardly refuse to act. "Go!" Panlongke'er was not particularly skilled at fighting head-on. His weapon was a whip, and combined with the Water Law he had comprehended, it was somewhat useful for entangling enemies. That was why Apide had called on him for help.
"Roar!" Although the whip did not pose much of a threat to Dimont, the added interference inevitably disrupted the rhythm of his attacks. Where he had been evenly matched with Apide, he now began to fall behind.
With a rip, another bloody wound appeared on Dimont's arm. Fortunately, his bones were hard enough that they had not been severed. Though the wounds slightly hindered his movements, they did not greatly affect his combat power.
However, if the battle continued like this, things would only turn against him. Rog's true body, standing at the cave entrance, had not chosen to intervene. If a real crisis arose, Rog could use a sneak Soul Attack to kill one of the enemies in an instant.
But he had intended this fight to train Dimont's combat ability, and besides, Dimont had not yet used his trump card!
"Innate Divine Ability-Suppress Heaven!"
Dimont roared inwardly, and the mysterious black halo in his Soul Ocean stirred. Nearly a third of his soul power was consumed in an instant, and the phantom of an ancient demonic ape with six arms appeared behind him. The enormous phantom stood over fifty meters tall, radiating a vast, majestic aura that gave it an imposing presence.
"Hum!" The moment Dimont used the Innate Divine Ability, he discovered its true purpose. Apide, who had been charging fiercely with his saber, suddenly seemed frozen in time. Still holding his saber in a diving posture, he hung motionless in midair.
To an outside observer, Apide now seemed like an insect trapped in amber. Though his consciousness could still think, his body was completely motionless.
"Die!" Dimont seized the chance to close in, aiming six ferocious fists at Apide's head. In the span of a single breath, Apide's head was smashed apart, sending blood and brains flying. A yellow crystal tumbled to the ground: Apide's earth-attribute Lowgod Godspark.
"What?!" Seeing Apide die on the spot in an instant, Panlongke'er's eyes nearly split with terror. He turned to flee, and Dimont was about to give chase when Rog locked onto Panlongke'er and struck him with a powerful Soul Ray.
"Boom!" Panlongke'er's body lost all strength as he turned to fly away, and he plummeted from high above, smashing a large crater into the ground. Still unsatisfied, Dimont rushed over and crushed his head with a punch, then retrieved a blue water-attribute Godspark.
"Those two really were courting death. How could there be so many treasures that help people become gods?" Rog snorted disdainfully. In cultivating the laws, one either relied on one's own comprehension or used Refine Divine Spark. Those who hoped to break through with the help of treasures were destined not to get far.
"Hm? Apide actually didn't have a clone. This saber is a decent trophy, though." When they cleaned up the battlefield, the most valuable things besides the two Godsparks were the pair's divine artifacts and spatial rings.
The water-element Lowgod likely still had a Saint Domain True Body, so his spatial ring could not be opened, and the divine whip could not be bound to a new master directly either. Apide, the stronger of the two, had actually contributed a Midgod Artifact saber to Rog.
"I was just worrying about not having a suitable weapon, and someone hurried to deliver one. In that case, I'll gladly accept it." Rog spoke casually. Outside, however, an uproar had erupted, for the Earth God Church soon discovered that its pope, Lord Apide, had fallen.
As one of humanity's most renowned gods, Apide's death had a considerable impact. However, the high priest of the Orc Great Prairie knew that the human race had another powerful newly ascended god named Rog, so he did not use the occasion to launch a large-scale attack on the human empire's territory.
As for the elves, who kept out of worldly affairs, their numbers were few, and they only liked living in places rich in natural vitality, such as the Forest of Elves. They had no interest in attacking the human empire.
The situation on the continent shifted dramatically, but soon settled down again. Rog and Dimont continued cultivating in the Lost Forest. Worth mentioning was that Rog rewarded the lucky Earth Violent Bear Wald with the earth-attribute Godspark. After refining it for a while, Wald too could become a god!
Although his master had told him that a god made this way would be the weakest among his peers, Wald, a slow-witted bear of ordinary comprehension, knew his own limits. Cultivating on his own, he probably could not become a god even in a hundred thousand years. Now that he had this chance, how could he let it slip away?
After all, no matter how weak a god was, he was still a god. The advantage of divine power alone, coupled with the use of God's Domain, was enough to easily handle a whole group of Saint-level experts.
