Fierce Battle Against Davis!
"Master, over the past five hundred years, I've made a little more progress in other aspects of my understanding of the Edicts of Destruction, but I'm still stuck at the limit of the second level of the Path of Collapse and Destruction." Dimont looked somewhat depressed as he brought it up. Rog, however, remained calm and was not too surprised. Specializing in a particular path of the Edicts was just like fusing the Profound Mysteries of the Laws: the farther one went, the harder it became. Only five hundred years had passed, so it was normal for Dimont to be stuck there.
"However, I've spent all these years continuously absorbing the essence of various metals to strengthen my body. My physical strength is now comparable to a Six-Star Fiend's." This was perhaps the result of Dimont's efforts over the past five hundred years. Though he had relied on his exceptional innate gifts, his strength had indeed improved.
"Oh? In that case, your Double Annihilation Fist at full power is now enough to rival a top-tier Seven-Star Fiend." Rog was pleasantly surprised. "You can use this Soul Defense Divine Artifact from now on." Rog had no intention of revealing the treasure's secret, so he gave it to Dimont as a Soul Defense Divine Artifact.
"Thank you, Master. With this Soul Defense Divine Artifact, I won't have to fear Soul Attacks anymore. I'd even dare to challenge a Seven-Star Fiend." After binding the Soul-Suppressing Celestial Crystal, Dimont was instantly brimming with confidence. Aside from his somewhat slow speed and weak God's Domain, his head-on combat ability was now definitely among the very best of Seven-Star Fiends. Even if he couldn't win, his life wouldn't be in danger.
"Hehe, I didn't expect to be lucky enough to obtain a Soul Defense Divine Artifact either. In that case, you really do have a chance of challenging a Seven-Star Fiend." If Dimont chose an opponent who wasn't skilled in speed or domain techniques, he could gain the upper hand and have a good chance of winning.
"Hehe, but before that, I still have to become a Six-Star Fiend." Because of Rog's instructions, Dimont had not acted on his own over the past five hundred years. Rog, meanwhile, had simply been held up by his research into the Soul-Suppressing Celestial Crystal, so both their Fiend medallions still only marked them as Five-Star Fiends.
To take on a Seven-Star Fiend mission, one had to become a Six-Star Fiend at the very least and complete a sufficient number of Six-Star Missions before being allowed to undertake the challenge. The whole process was fairly cumbersome.
The Kunsha Mountain Range.
Rog and Dimont soon applied for the Six-Star Fiend examination. Other lower-star Fiends were accompanying them on this mission as well, tasked with clearing out the target's subordinates. Since the target was an extremely powerful Six-Star Fiend, Mina couldn't take part this time.
"Davis, come out!" Dimont's excited roar echoed through the skies. He had gone a full five hundred years without a blood-stirring battle, and he could hardly wait!
"Who is it? How dare you run wild at my Kunsha Fort!" Davis was the leader of the Kunsha Bandits, notorious throughout the surrounding million li. He was a powerful Six-Star Fiend who cultivated the Laws of Wind, with extremely strong material attacks and great speed.
With that furious bellow, Davis soon appeared high in the sky. He was a handsome man whose looks could rival an elf's, with long green hair draped over his shoulders. He had a somewhat feminine appearance, and his weapon was an extremely slender lady's sword.
"I, Rog, have come today to test your Laws of Wind, Davis!" Rog issued his challenge to Davis!
There was no helping it. Davis happened to specialize in speed, and Dimont wouldn't be able to lay a finger on him.
"Test them? I'd say you're courting death!" Davis's blue eyes, clear as gemstones, coldly regarded the fellow who gave off only a Midgod's aura yet dared to boast so wildly. In an instant, he split into more than a thousand doppelgangers and surrounded Rog to attack!
"What? So many doppelgangers!" Rog was somewhat surprised. Although the Laws of Wind could indeed produce many doppelgangers, Davis was the first person he had seen who could create over a thousand.
"Hmph! What a troublesome fellow!" Seeing Davis immediately split into over a thousand doppelgangers,
Dimont abandoned the idea of targeting him and turned to attack the Kunsha Bandits' second leader, a minotaur who cultivated the Edicts of Destruction. "A Midgod? Die!" This minotaur was not like the ordinary ones Rog had encountered on the Glais Continent. He belonged to a special race with Wild War Bull blood, which gave him a considerable boost and allowed him to overpower another Five-Star Fiend among the Kunsha Bandits and become their second-in-command.
Unfortunately, no matter how formidable he was, he was only a little stronger than an ordinary Five-Star Fiend. Against a killing star like Dimont, his fate was already predictable.
"Bang!" The two exchanged a punch, and the outcome was as inevitable as a bronze hammer striking a pumpkin.
"You dared to trade punches with me? Killing you didn't take a second move." Dimont turned and fixed his sights on the Kunsha Bandits' third leader.
"Electric Light Flowing Shadow!" Faced with Davis's attack, Rog immediately unleashed his own Laws of Lightning technique. To draw out his potential in the Laws of Lightning, Rog also revealed his Fused Divine Power of his own accord for the first time.
Electric Light Flowing Shadow was a movement technique Rog had developed with Lightning Speed as its core. In terms of speed alone, it was no slower than Davis. Even though his opponent's thousand-plus doppelgangers attacked Rog without pause, they still found it difficult to injure him.
After all, those thousand-plus doppelgangers couldn't possibly each possess the same strength as the original. The original was the real threat; the other doppelgangers were merely a diversion. Still, Rog had to admit that Davis had developed an extraordinary technique. If Rog himself had not been relatively skilled in matters of the soul, he might not have been able to distinguish the original from the doppelgangers.
"You've got some skill. Try this move of mine!" Finding that the Doppelganger Technique could not confuse his opponent, Davis did not immediately dismiss the doppelgangers, because they also served as a means for him to shift his position and increase his speed.
"Storm Cage, form!" All of a sudden, Davis had his thousand-plus doppelgangers surround Rog. They then exploded, transforming into streams of Wind Divine Power. Those streams of Wind Divine Power actually formed a Wind Space domain, which took the shape of a cage and trapped Rog inside.
Rog had to admit that Davis had indeed cultivated the Laws of Wind to an extremely high level, and his understanding of the Laws was considerable as well. This ultimate technique perfectly linked the Doppelganger Technique and Wind Space together. Even an ordinary Seven-Star Fiend of the Wind Element probably couldn't do it.
"Extreme of Wind, Space Slash!" Now! Davis's eyes lit up. The instant that Storm Cage trapped his enemy was enough time for him to unleash the material attack he was best at!
"Sss!" The Laws of Wind truly lived up to their reputation for material attacks. Though Davis was only a Six-Star Fiend, his final killing move had torn open the space of the Infernal Realm!
Each move linked to the next! Brilliant!
Rog couldn't help but exclaim in admiration. Davis's combat techniques were indeed ingenious. His Laws of Wind were already incredibly fast, and an enemy facing more than a thousand doppelgangers would inevitably be put in a difficult position. Even if they knew his follow-up moves in advance, they would have no way to interfere.
Even I might not be able to withstand this strike! Rog's eyes narrowed slightly. Trapped by the Wind Space domain, he had no way to dodge the final sword strike!
"Perish!" Rog had to admit that he was no match for Davis using only the Laws of Lightning, but they were not the only Laws he had cultivated!
"Sss!" Invisible soul power gathered frantically, forming a terrifying arrow that shot straight at Davis!
Although his body couldn't move, that didn't mean he couldn't use his soul power. This time, he had won.
"What?!" Davis was just about to reach him, and his sword was visibly on the verge of piercing Rog's head. He had even caught sight of the urgency in his opponent's eyes!
But suddenly, his soul aura dissipated like a candle being snuffed out, and his once utterly confident gaze instantly went dull.
"Thud!" In the end, his limp body fell helplessly from the sky, and the terrifying-looking Storm Cage fell apart on its own.
"Davis was formidable!" Rog watched as his opponent died and his soul was destroyed. Only when a cyan Godspark fell did he breathe a sigh of relief. Just now, he had nearly been the one to die!
"Though Davis was only a Six-Star Fiend, he fused the Profound Mystery of Dimension, the Profound Mystery of Wind Space, and the Profound Mystery of Doppelganger Technique seamlessly. The set of ultimate techniques he created was also nearly perfect. His only weakness was perhaps his poor soul defense. Otherwise, I might have been the one who died." At that final instant, Rog's soul had involuntarily tensed to the extreme!
"I still can't underestimate these experts of the Infernal Realm." In his first battle against a powerful Six-Star Fiend, Rog had run into such a tough opponent and nearly come to grief.
With the battle between Davis and Rog high in the sky over, the fight between the Fiends and the bandit organization had essentially come to an end as well.
"Heavens! The fort master's been killed!"
"Everyone, run!"
With their chief leader Davis dead, the others were left entirely leaderless. They no longer had the courage to fight to the death and fled madly in all directions, each fighting for himself. The Fiends pressed their advantage, relentlessly pursuing and killing the bandits.
"Haha, all of you die!" Dimont, caught up in the slaughter, left the bandits terrified and with nowhere to flee. The fighting continued for quite some time.
Much later, Kunsha Fort was completely wiped out.
"My lords." The Fiends had now witnessed Rog and Dimont's true strength, and every one of them treated the pair with great respect. No one questioned their status as Midgods anymore; these two had to be Highgods concealing their soul auras. As for why they chose to display the soul auras of Midgods, it could only be a quirk of the powerful.
Paying no heed to the other Fiends' baseless speculation, Rog had gained considerable inspiration from the battle just now. It wasn't that he had found a point of compatibility with a fourth profound mystery. Rather, he had discovered an oversight in his path of cultivation. This was even more important than finding an opportunity to fuse profound mysteries, as it concerned his future cultivation.
