Volcano Giant Aolade
Although my Lightning Law's Profound Mysteries are fused to much the same degree as Davis's, I'm nowhere near him when it comes to developing each individual mystery. After returning to Dawa City, Rog had been reflecting on their earlier battle.
Rog's exceptional talent had allowed him to fuse Profound Mysteries quickly and easily in the early stages, which was a good thing. But fusing them too quickly also meant he had done very little to develop the individual mysteries themselves. Rog had never paid attention to this problem before, focused as he had been on fusing the fourth mystery and reaching Seven-Star Fiend strength as quickly as possible.
After his harrowing battle with Davis, however, Rog's impatience had subsided considerably. I shouldn't be so hasty. If I fuse them too quickly, my foundation will only grow shakier, and the farther I go, the harder the path will become. Rog began to reflect on himself.
With his talent, he wouldn't dare claim he could become a Paragon, but he had a fairly good chance of reaching the Asura or Commander level. That, however, depended on him taking each step carefully and laying a solid foundation. Otherwise, even if he quickly fused four Profound Mysteries, he would face even greater resistance when fusing the fifth!
The farther I go in fusing Profound Mysteries, the more I need to strive for perfection. In particular, there can't be the slightest flaw if I'm to reach the final realm of a Paragon High-God. If I'm too impatient, I won't have the slightest chance of becoming a Paragon. Although Rog himself wasn't confident he could become a Paragon, he nevertheless harbored that ambition, so it was time for him to sort out his path of cultivation.
I've fought with the Laws of Lightning too few times. Of the moves I've developed, Electric Light Flowing Shadow is the only one I've put much effort into. My other techniques are far too crude, especially my development of the Judgment Profound Mystery. It's the Lightning Element's strongest offensive mystery, yet I haven't demonstrated the power of this High-level Profound Mystery at all. The Death Rule mainly involved the soul, making it difficult to achieve breakthroughs by fighting others, but when it came to the Laws of Lightning, he did need to experience more battles.
The Judgment Profound Mystery is no less powerful than the Fire Element's Profound Mystery of Explosion or the Wind Element's Dimension Profound Mystery. I must develop a more refined ultimate move based on its characteristics. Rog had many ideas in mind and began slowly putting them into practice one by one.
The Luolunweier Mountain Range.
A Volcano Giant lived here. He was quite powerful and often robbed passing merchants, so the nearby Dragon Mountain City lord's estate had eventually issued a mission to eliminate him.
This Volcano Giant's strength was not to be underestimated, however. Although his fusion of Profound Mysteries was only at the Six-Star Fiend level, his overall strength was nearly equal to that of a weaker Seven-Star Fiend, making this a very difficult Six-Star Fiend mission.
In the past, this Six-Star Mission had been accepted seven times in total. But of the seven Six-Star Fiends who took it, only one Wind Element expert had escaped unscathed; the other six had all perished in the Luolunweier Mountain Range, establishing the fearsome reputation of Aolade the Volcano Giant. This time, their objective was to kill the Volcano Giant.
"Master, this Volcano Giant attacks in a straightforward manner. Why don't you let me teach him a lesson first?" It was rare for Dimont to encounter an opponent to his liking, and he was itching for a fight. His dark-gold eyes surveyed the mountain range ahead as though he had spotted some delicious prey.
"If you attack first, Aolade will probably run away immediately. Chasing him down will be even more troublesome then." Rog had read the intelligence on Aolade the Volcano Giant. Among the Profound Mysteries he had fused was the most troublesome one of all, the Profound Mystery of Explosion. Not only did this give Aolade astonishing material attacks, but it also made him quite fast when he burst into motion.
"Aolade, come out!"
The two arrived at the area of active volcanoes but didn't rush in recklessly. After all, Volcano Giants were born in volcanic magma and could merge with volcanic rock. If they charged around blindly, they might end up rushing straight into the Volcano Giant's "belly."
"Hm? Two Midgod Fiends? You two think you can kill me? I thought some experts had come from somewhere."
Aolade sneered as he emerged from the volcanic range. He had been a little nervous when he first heard that two Six-Star Fiends had accepted the mission against him, but he hadn't expected them to be two Midgods. Of course, he didn't let down his guard. His verbal contempt was merely a disguise; in truth, he was bold but meticulous. Otherwise, he couldn't have survived until now.
Two Midgods who can actually match Six-Star Fiends must be peerless geniuses. If I report this to Lord Fulaite, I'm sure to receive a substantial reward! Aolade was already thinking about how to drive the two of them off first. It would be a pity to kill geniuses like these.
"Haha, two Midgods actually dare to come kill me. Tedun, it looks like I won't need your help." Aolade the Volcano Giant had actually received word in advance and even found a helper. Rog was somewhat surprised, but after a moment's thought, he understood.
Although the Fiend Castle was an official establishment spearheaded by the Sovereigns, that didn't mean the people in charge of it were absolutely impartial. This probably wasn't the first time mission information had been leaked.
"This Aolade really is cautious. I was planning to launch a sneak attack later." Tedun looked thoroughly displeased. Aolade was far too afraid of death, revealing his presence just like that. If they weren't both working for Lord Fulaite, he would have hit the fellow with his hammer a couple of times first.
"Big brother, leave this one-horned freak to me!" Dimont, who had been worried about not having an opponent, was delighted to discover Tedun.
"You're the freak! I'm a mighty member of the Ghost Clan!" Enraged by Dimont, Tedun picked up his great hammer and charged without another word!
The Ghost Clan was a race that, like the elves, was fairly well known throughout the Divine Planes and produced powerful experts one after another. Judging by appearances, this hammer-wielding member of the Ghost Clan cultivated the Laws of the Earth.
"Kid, take an axe strike from me first!" Aolade, who had taken the form of a huge, red-haired man, wielded a giant axe. His massive body also held terrifying strength, and the might of his axe strike nearly tore space apart as that terrifying power came pouring down on Rog.
His material attacks really are frightening! Rog's pupils contracted. Killing the Volcano Giant wouldn't be too difficult for him, but his main purpose this time was to hone the results of his cultivation in the Laws of Lightning.
"Take a move from me too-Thunderquake Break!" The war saber in Rog's hand transformed into a lightning god's blade wreathed in blinding electric light, meeting Aolade's axe head-on!
"Get down!" Aolade was indeed a Volcano Giant, a special life form. He had fused three Fire Element Profound Mysteries, and combined with his innate divine strength, his material attacks were extremely powerful, nearly reaching the Seven-Star Fiend level. Even though Rog used his new ultimate move, he was at a disadvantage in the head-on clash and was sent reeling back by the giant axe.
"Hmph, take my next move-Lightning Shadow Thousand Strikes!" If a head-on attack wouldn't work, he would add speed!
"Crackle! Crackle!" Surging lightning energy ran wild through the valley where the two fought. Rog's entire body was covered in dazzling lightning. In an instant, he pulled away from Aolade, then rushed back at him like a furious bolt of lightning!
"It's useless!" Aolade's crimson eyes could no longer track Rog's movements, but his keen combat instincts led him to use his giant axe as a shield.
Clang! Aolade successfully blocked Rog's surprise attack, but before a smile could appear on his face, a storm of attacks came crashing down on him! Lightning filled the air around Aolade as Rog's figure became a series of afterimages, launching attacks at random from every direction!
This kid! Aolade found himself in a difficult position. He was indeed quite fast when he burst forward in a straight line, but he couldn't move and dodge nimbly within a small area like Rog. As a result, he could only serve as a living target for Rog's relentless attacks.
With attacks this fierce, I don't believe you can keep them up for long! Although a long defense was bound to fail, preventing him from blocking every strike of his opponent's war saber accurately with his axe, he remained unhurried in the face of Rog's relentless assault. As a Volcano Giant, his body was as tough as a divine artifact. Every blow Rog landed inflicted only minor injuries, nothing that posed a fatal danger.
Once your assault stops, it'll be my turn to counterattack. The cunning Aolade was already preparing a move to strike back.
