Lightning Element Highgod, Soul Transformation!
Late at night, a purple moon hung high in the sky.
Inside the residence, Rog held an interspatial ring containing a vast amount of Inkstones and Azurites.
"My lord Prefect, these are the taxes collected in Tianhua Prefecture over the past seventy million years. Also, I have notified the master of Tianhua City's Fiend Castle about the matter you entrusted to me." A captivating vampire beauty with long silver hair bowed to Rog.
"Elmira, understood." Rog glanced at his newly appointed maid. She had a pair of enchanting blood-red eyes and was said to be descended from vampire royalty. She was quite pleasing to the eye.
She had originally been a Prefecture Army captain with the strength of a Six-Star Fiend. He didn't know why she had suddenly come to serve as his maid. But since Mandel, the Prefecture Army Commander, had made the arrangement, Rog did not object.
"My lord Prefect, Commander Mandel asked me to pass on a message. Do you have any new orders for the Prefecture Army?" the new maid continued respectfully.
Rog nodded with a faint smile. "Tell him to keep managing the Prefecture Army as he did before. I'm cultivating at the moment and have no time to receive visitors. Unless it's something important, handle it for me. From now on, unless someone comes to challenge me or a Prefect-level figure from another prefecture comes to visit, tell everyone that I'm cultivating and can't receive them."
Elmira immediately bowed. "Yes, my lord Prefect."
Mandel was a longtime member of Tianhua Prefecture's army. As its Commander, he was also a Seven-Star Fiend-level expert. Although he had previously served Makenrich, theirs had been an ordinary relationship between superior and subordinate, and he felt little over Makenrich's death.
To him, his position as Prefecture Army Commander was more important, which was why he had arranged for Elmira to serve Rog. As for who became Prefect, what did it matter to him?
"I don't know whether Makenrich has another Divine Clone or a Saint Domain True Body left. If it's the former, that's fine, but if it's the latter, it'll be quite a problem." Rog couldn't help feeling irritated at the thought.
If Makenrich had only one other Divine Clone, that would be manageable. His other Divine Clone couldn't possibly have Asura-level strength as well. Experts with two Asura-level Divine Clones were exceedingly rare; Rog knew of only a handful, including Mosi of Miluo Island.
If Makenrich still had a Saint Domain True Body, that would be troublesome. His true body could simply refine a Godspark of the same type and become a Death Edict Highgod again. Although his strength would never improve afterward, it would be little different from what it had been before. Besides, he hadn't made a breakthrough in hundreds of millions of years, so even if he could still cultivate, he had little room to improve. The drawbacks of refining a Godspark weren't unbearable...
"I've already issued a Fiend Mission placing a bounty on Makenrich's clone. The problem now is the Sovereign's Might." Rog had originally held on to a sliver of hope that he could obtain Sovereign's Might from Makenrich after killing him. Unfortunately, Makenrich still had a clone, so the interspatial ring couldn't recognize a new master at all.
"The expedition may not be as fierce as a Planar War, but going without a single drop of Sovereign's Might would be far too dangerous." Rog frowned.
For a god, the boost from Sovereign's Might was simply too great. Without the drop Lord Aiken had given him, he would never have been able to kill Makenrich.
"With a drop of Sovereign's Might, even a Seven-Star Fiend might be able to kill me. Looks like I should find a solution..." Rog fell into thought, even considering targeting the Four Divine Beasts Clan.
Of all the clans in the eleven Divine Planes, the Four Divine Beasts Clan undoubtedly had the most abundant supply of Sovereign's Might. In other major clans, a member normally had to be at least as strong as a Seven-Star Fiend to be granted a drop, but the Four Divine Beasts Clan was different.
Some Six-Star Fiends, and even Five-Star Fiends of the direct line, possessed Sovereign's Might. "Forget it. The Four Divine Beasts' ancestors aren't dead yet. There's no need to provoke their clan." The Four Divine Beasts were undoubtedly among the most protective Sovereigns. Otherwise, they could never have allowed their clan to act so recklessly across the Divine Planes. Even the Augusta Clan, founded by the Sovereign of Light, was less overbearing than the present-day Four Divine Beasts Clan.
"I'll try it myself first." Rog had already told his subordinates not to disturb him. In his cultivation chamber, he closed his eyes and began cultivating, intending to fully master Thunderbolt, the last profound mystery of the Lightning Law.
He had long since mastered the other five profound mysteries of the Lightning Element. Once he mastered this last one, he could break through to the Highgod level!
Rog had skipped over the profound mystery of Electromagnetic Space and found a point of compatibility between Thunderbolt and the other profound mysteries first. To complete the fusion of five Lightning Element profound mysteries, he also had to fully master Thunderbolt.
Although cultivation became harder after reaching the Highgod level, the difficulty lay in the deductions themselves. At Rog's current level of insight into the laws, the real difficulty was breaking through bottlenecks, and it had little to do with his ability to make deductions.
Besides, to become a Paragon, he would have to reach the Highgod level sooner or later. After all, if he hadn't even comprehended all the laws, how could he bring them to perfection?
"Wherever lightning strikes, it's accompanied by the awe-inspiring sound of thunder. That rumble arises naturally from the lightning itself, so it can be perfectly fused with lightning..." Rog murmured, closing his eyes.
The lightning storm he had encountered in the Star Mist Sea that day appeared in his mind. It was then that he had discovered the possibility of perfectly fusing five profound mysteries into one and created his ultimate technique, Azure Lightning.
Before long, three years had passed.
Rog sat there motionless with his eyes closed, a faint smile seemingly on his face. Just then-
"Rumble..."
A peculiar fluctuation of the Natural Laws descended. The people in the city lord's residence were all too familiar with it. It was the fluctuation of the Natural Laws that accompanied becoming a god or the transformation of a Godspark.
A Godspark radiating purple light flew out of Rog's body.
The Natural Laws transformed the Godspark, and his soul transformed at the same time...
After a long while...
Rog opened his eyes.
Upon reaching the Highgod level, his Lightning Divine Clone's soul had grown nearly ten times stronger from a single baptism of the Natural Laws. At the same moment, the souls of his true body and Death Divine Clone had transformed as well.
After all, Rog was a Soul Mutator, and his three souls could influence one another. Under the influence of his Lightning Divine Clone's soul, the other two souls had naturally transformed as well. Whether it was his Death Divine Clone or his Saint Domain True Body, neither soul was inferior in level to that of his Lightning High Divine Clone.
With a thought, Rog connected to the Elemental Sea Plane.
The Elemental Sea Plane.
It was a vast, boundless ocean glowing purple. The deeper one went, the higher the energy level of its "seawater" became. Now that Rog had reached the Highgod level,
he could already probe the ocean's great depths, where liquefied Highgod Lightning Divine Power flowed.
"What dense Highgod Lightning Divine Power. When I was a Midgod, I could already see it, but I couldn't draw on it. Now I've probed almost to the bottom of the Highgod Power. And beneath it..." Rog strained to extend his divine sense deeper into the Elemental Sea.
A dense, overwhelmingly powerful aura spread through the depths, where streams of purple water flowed.
Those purple streams were distinctly separate from the ordinary liquid divine power.
"Could this be...?" Rog's divine sense could only barely penetrate a short distance into it, but he could clearly sense its aura. "This is the aura of Sovereign's Might. Unfortunately, all I can do is look..." After probing it a little, Rog understood that his soul power was still nowhere near strong enough to draw Sovereign's Might from the Elemental Sea.
The bottom layer of the Elemental Sea was boundless. So much Sovereign's Might was enough to make anyone covet it. But... there was a limit to how deep a Highgod's divine sense could probe. Obtaining Sovereign's Might was simply impossible!
Even though Rog was a Soul Mutator whose soul was now a level higher than a normal Highgod's, he still couldn't draw on that Sovereign's Might.
Deep in the Elemental Sea, undercurrents surged as endless streams of Sovereign's Might rolled along.
"I can see it, but I can't get it." Rog couldn't help feeling tempted.
So much Sovereign's Might! But everyone who became a god could sense the Elemental Sea, and Highgods with stronger souls could generally discover the region containing Sovereign's Might.
