Su Lin survived the destruction of Research Institute No. 37 by becoming a human-Broodmother hybrid and was taken aboard a Zerg warship. After Carlos protected him and brought him to a bloodline examination, Medises revealed Su Lin’s Dew Nest lineage and claimed him, while Su Lin recognized Medises as He Zisen.

• Su Lin returned to the institute’s storage room during a Zerg attack, entered the vessel holding the Broodmother remains, and triggered an experiment that destroyed the institute.
• Carlos found Su Lin among the rubble as an injured larva and brought him aboard the Zerg warship, where he and Hill disputed who would protect him.
• Su Lin learned that the experiment had made him half human and half Broodmother Zerg, and he resisted Hill’s attempts to keep him as a honey bug.
• Carlos took Su Lin to the Security Committee for a bloodline examination, using his pheromones to make the committee think Su Lin was under his protection.

Su Lin learned that Medises had rescued him from the Zerg screening room and tried to keep him safe while investigating his altered genes. After Ariel sought Su Lin as a nectar source, Medises took the ship away, but Su Lin’s wings began secreting honey as his Zerg genes started to fuse.

• Carlos offered Medises three kilograms of benzoin spice for Su Lin, but Medises refused and warned Carlos to focus on the coming lord selection.
• Carlos asked Ariel to retrieve a Dew Nest larva from Medises, while Su Lin dreamed of He Zisen and woke shackled in Medises’s cabin.
• Medises introduced himself as a senior inspector and lord candidate, accused Xue Yao of making Su Lin an experimental subject, and promised to find a way to return him to the human world.
• Xue Yao’s assistant saw a cake offering beside a star-shaped stone on Xue Yao’s desk, while Su Lin boarded the Security Committee ship and began relying on Medises.
• Medises treated Su Lin’s wings, gave him a wristband identifying him as a slave Zerg, and injected pheromones to mark him as claimed by a Blood Wing.
• Su Lin met Saint Ariel in the library, where Ariel asked Medises to give Su Lin to him as a nectar source, but Medises refused.
