Arc 38The Beast Taming Canon
Zhang Xuezhou and his companions escaped the Beast Taming Sect’s underground vault with its inheritance and presented the canon to the King of Huainan. After the canon was accepted and Zhang gained access to Room A, he found that the Fortune Technique was difficult to practice under the Great Han Dynasty’s divided rule.
- Su Fei trapped the fighters inside the shrine, then joined Zhang Xuezhou and Jin Chang to open the secret vault, where falling rocks and the Jade Water Pool separated the group.
- Great Sage Water Ape captured Jin Chang and Zhang Xuezhou, but Senior Brother Rulai arrived and subdued the Water Ape, allowing Zhang Xuezhou and the others to escape through an underground river.
- Zhang Xuezhou rescued Jin Chang, Lei Bei, and Li Shaojun, while Wu Chao arranged exchanges of cultivation techniques and planned to return to Shouchun City.
- Zhang Xuezhou, Jin Chang, Lei Bei, and Su Fei reached Shouchun City, where Zhang transcribed the Beast Taming Canon and offered it to the King of Huainan.
- The King of Huainan’s cultivators examined the canon, and Su Fei and Zhang Cigong pledged to cultivate it as the King granted Zhang access to Room A.
- Dong Zhongshu confirmed that the canon was complete, and the King of Huainan accepted it for presentation to the imperial court while rewarding Zhang and his companions.
- Jin Chang asked Dong Zhongshu whether the Tomb Scripture could change fate, while Zhang studied Huang-Lao texts and found that the Fortune Technique’s methods were difficult under the Great Han Dynasty’s divided rule.
- The King of Huainan judged that Zhang had pursued the wrong cultivation path and ordered Tian You to issue him another Grade-A token with a time limit.
