By creating an API key or connecting an app you agree to use them fairly. In plain words:
- For you and your own tools. A key is for your own projects: a bot, a script, a reading tracker, an assistant. Do not share it, sell access to it, or run a service for other people on it. Each person who uses your tool should use their own key or connect their own account.
- No copying the site. Do not mirror the catalogue, glossaries, recaps or translations, or rebuild RandomTranslator elsewhere. Chapter text is not in the API; do not try to collect it through the website either.
- No getting around the membership. Do not use the API to give anyone what the Reader membership pays for.
- Stay within the limits of one account. Ask for more rather than spreading the work over several accounts (see Limits).
- Identify your tool. Send a
User-Agentthat names it, so we can tell your requests apart and reach you if something goes wrong. - Keep your key secret. Keep it out of public code, web pages and repositories. If it leaks, revoke it on your account page: that stops it at once.
- Link back. Wherever you show RandomTranslator's data, link the novel's page on RandomTranslator. API answers carry the novel's id, and
https://randomtranslator.com/novel/{id}opens its page; connector answers carry the page asrt_url.
We may limit, revoke or block a key, an app or an account that breaks these, and we may pause the API or the connector to protect the site.
The novels belong to their authors and the sites that publish them. RandomTranslator's translations, glossaries and recaps are for reading on RandomTranslator.
