An assistant does not see RandomTranslator's pages: it calls tools. Each tool has one job, takes a few plain inputs and answers twice, as typed data (structuredContent) and as a short markdown text that many apps show directly.

Rules every tool follows#

  • Read only. Every tool is marked readOnlyHint: true, destructiveHint: false, idempotentHint: true, openWorldHint: false.
  • Nothing is spent. No tool translates, re-translates, requests or refreshes a novel, uses Google Translate, reads aloud, or calls an AI model.
  • No chapter text appears in any answer.
  • Naming a novel. novel_id takes the number (1234), "#1234", or a randomtranslator.com novel or chapter URL. Other sites' URLs are refused.
  • Forgiving inputs. Unknown inputs are ignored, and a limit or days above its maximum is lowered rather than refused.
  • English only. Answers are in English, with the original Chinese titles and names where they exist.
  • Errors are one sentence the assistant can act on (an unknown novel, a bad input, a missing permission, a limit), never a stack trace.
  • Links. Every novel comes with its RandomTranslator URL, and the assistant is told to show it. Dates are UTC, in ISO 8601.
  • Permissions. The assistant sees only the tools its permissions allow (see Get a key).

A novel line in the text answer reads:

[1234] **A Novel Title** (原名) · Author · Completed · 1,200 ch · https://randomtranslator.com/novel/1234/a-novel-title

my_limits#

Your limits today, so the assistant can say what is left: the daily chapter allowance (shared by reading on the site, offline downloads and RandomTranslator's own apps), read-aloud characters and original-text views, each with its ceiling. The same numbers as GET /api/v1/limits/me.

Permission read:library

Ask: "How many chapters do I have left today?"

What the assistant is told#

When it connects, the assistant is told that RandomTranslator hosts English translations of Chinese web novels; to start with search_novels or get_my_library / my_updates, then use where_am_i, recap_to_here and glossary_lookup; to always link the RandomTranslator page; that reading happens on the site; and that get_novel links DaoSearch, which has its own connector, for Chinese-side rankings and reviews.
