Your Patreon pledge is the only thing that sets your tier; there's no separate upgrade flow on RandomTranslator itself. If a tier looks wrong after subscribing, see Troubleshooting instead of this page.
Signing in#
RandomTranslator only supports signing in with Patreon. Select Sign in with Patreon wherever a sign-in prompt appears and authorize the connection. You don't need an active pledge to sign in. A free Patreon account works too.
Linking your Patreon account creates your RandomTranslator profile the first time you sign in. After that, your tier follows your Patreon pledge: every sign-in re-checks it, and Patreon tells the site when your pledge changes, so changes to your pledge apply within a minute or two. If they don't, sign out and back in.
Your tier controls your monthly allowances for novel requests, previews, source searches and wiki generation, and your daily retranslation limits. The Limits page shows your tier (Free, Reader, Translator: Base or Translator: Pro, plus a Superuser badge reserved for site staff) and your usage; What's Free and What's Paid lists what each tier includes.
Your Account page#
Open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar and select Account, or select Account settings on your own profile. The Account page holds:
- Account: your name, and your email and Patreon ID behind a reveal toggle. Edit profile changes your username and profile image.
- Membership: your Patreon status and tier, with links to Limits and Membership.
- Connections: DaoSearch and our Discord.
- API keys: personal keys for your own tools (every signed-in account; see the API Guide).
- Connected apps: AI apps you connected, such as Claude or ChatGPT, and what each may do. Disconnect stops one (see Claude, ChatGPT and AI Apps).
- Public profile: what visitors see on your profile (see Privacy settings).
- Sign out and Sign out everywhere.
Notification settings stay with your notifications: the bell's Preferences, or Settings on the Notifications page.
Staying signed in#
Your session lasts 30 days of inactivity. Every visit resets that window, so you stay signed in as long as you keep coming back. There's no separate "remember me" option; this applies automatically. To sign out, select Sign out from the account menu. To end every session at once, on every device, use Sign out everywhere on your Account page.
When your pledge ends#
Your tier updates automatically from your Patreon pledge status. There's no separate cancellation step on RandomTranslator itself. If your pledge lapses, your account reverts to Free limits within a minute or two, and you won't get an in-app notice when this happens. If Patreon revokes your access token, you'll be signed out and need to sign in again.
Your profile#
Every reader has a public profile at a URL like /user/12345/your-name. It shows your reading stats, community contributions, and awards, unless you turn a section off in your privacy settings.
The top of your profile shows your avatar, display name, level badge, your chosen display title (if any), your total XP, when you joined, and a progress bar toward your next level. See Levels and Achievements for how levels work.
On your own profile, an XP card (only you see it) breaks your total down into starting XP, reading, contributions and bonuses.
Below that, a Stats card shows your current and best reading streak, active days (or your saved chapter progress if reading activity is hidden), novels read, ratings given, reviews written, comments posted, and novels uploaded.
A Reading activity heatmap shows how many chapters you opened on each day of the year, with year arrows to browse past years.
An Awards section shows your rarest achievements, with an unlock count (for example "14 / 65") and a count for each tier. View all shows every achievement, grouped by family. See Levels and Achievements.
Eight tabs sit above these sections: Overview, Reviews, Comments, Edits, Uploads, History, Engagement, and Reports. Where they don't all fit, swipe or drag the row sideways. Any tab whose section you've hidden in your privacy settings doesn't appear for other visitors. The Reports tab follows Community activity: visitors see each report's novel, type, current and suggested value, and status, but never the notes you added or moderator feedback.
Every username, comment, and review links to the author's profile. To see your own profile, open /profile; it redirects you to your profile page.
Tip Use the eye icon beside the page title on your own profile to preview it exactly as a visitor would see it, including any sections you've hidden.
Editing your username and profile image#
- Open your Account page (account menu → Account, or Account settings on your profile) and select Edit profile.
- Update your Public Username (2–50 characters; letters, numbers,
_and-only) in the Edit Public Profile dialog. - Select your current avatar image to replace your Profile Image (max size 512KB).
- Select Save changes.
Your username and profile image are visible to everyone, including on comments, reviews, and the leaderboard.
Usernames containing slurs, hate symbols, or sexual terms aren't allowed, and neither are names that pose as the site or its staff (such as admin or moderator). If you pick one, you'll be asked to choose a different name. Usernames also have to be unique.
Choosing a display title#
Titles come from awards marked as title-eligible. At the top of the Awards section of your profile, use the Display title dropdown to choose one, then select Save. Everyone with an award wears a title, and it shows whatever your privacy settings are.
Titles are cosmetic. They don't add privileges. See Levels and Achievements for how awards are earned.
Privacy settings#
Your profile has three privacy switches, in the Public profile section of your Account page. All three are on (public) by default.

Turning off Reading activity or Community activity also hides your total XP and level-progress numbers from visitors. Your level badge itself still shows, but the XP figures behind it don't.
Note Locked achievement progress (for example "12 / 50 accepted entries" on an award you haven't unlocked yet) is always private. Only you can see how close you are to an achievement you don't have yet.
What's never public#
Regardless of your privacy settings, the following are never shown to other visitors: your email address, your Patreon account details, your exact saved reading position within a chapter, your individual likes and ratings on other people's content, the notes you add to reports, and any moderation feedback tied to your account. You can see your own email and Patreon ID on your Account page behind a reveal toggle. Nobody else can.
Linking DaoSearch#
DaoSearch is our sister site for finding Chinese web novels. Linking your accounts keeps your library the same on both. Any account can link, free or paid.
What linking does#
- Your library. Saving a novel, moving it to another shelf or removing it on either site does the same on the other, within about two minutes. Changes made by Library Management count too.
- Progress. DaoSearch shows the chapter you're on here, so its Continue button picks up where you left off on RandomTranslator. Progress on DaoSearch doesn't come back here.
- What stays here. Your ratings, reviews and reading history stay on RandomTranslator. Removing a novel from your library on DaoSearch takes it off your shelf here, but your progress, rating and review for it are kept.
A novel DaoSearch doesn't list yet syncs on its own within about a day of DaoSearch adding it.
One RandomTranslator account links to one DaoSearch account. Linking a different pair replaces the old link.
Linking your accounts#
From DaoSearch:
- On DaoSearch, open your account page and select Connect RandomTranslator.
- If you're not signed in here, select Sign in with Patreon to continue. You come straight back afterwards.
- Check the account shown under Link your DaoSearch account? and select Link accounts.
From RandomTranslator:
- Open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar and select Account.
- Under Connections, select Connect beside DaoSearch.
- Allow the link on DaoSearch.
Either way you land on your Account page, where the DaoSearch row shows Connected as your DaoSearch name.
Unlinking#
On your Account page, under Connections, select Disconnect beside DaoSearch and confirm. That unlinks on both sites at once. Unlinking from DaoSearch's account page works too, and reaches us within about two minutes.
Linking and unlinking never delete anything: novels already in either library stay where they are.
Your uploads#
Novels you've added to the site appear under the Uploads tab on your profile. Your only other uploadable content is your profile image (see Editing your username and profile image). GIFs in comments and reviews are searched, not uploaded.
Deleting your account or data#
There's no self-serve way to delete your account yet. Email randomtranslator2@gmail.com or reach out on Discord to request deletion. Deleting your account removes your library, reading history, ratings, reviews, replies, comments, and level; novels you've added and glossary edits or reports you've had accepted stay on the site, no longer linked to your account.
